Remember that lunch passes are available to Grade 8 students on Mondays and Wednesdays, Grade 7 students on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Grade 7 & 8 students on Fridays.

·          Here's more info on the organization and why we are supporting this worthy cause: Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation presents the Inside Ride, Canada’s first indoor cycling challenge and fundraising event dedicated to raising monies in support of families and children with cancer. Support will be provided where the needs are greatest, including funding of oncology camps, community support programmes, research scholarships and other areas which contribute to inspiring hope and improving prognoses for children and their families impacted by cancer. clip_image006 CHOIR PRACTICE FOR OPEN HOUSE PERFORMANCES: All choir members please come to room 119 at lunch on Monday, May 5th and Tuesday, May 6th. Final practice before the performances is on Thursday May 8th at 8:15 am in Mr. Currie's room 119. Students must see Ms. Soprovich during one of these practices to be included in the choir list. clip_image008SPIRIT WEEK!  May 5 – 9 is Spirit Week at Mother Teresa.  Monday is Rainbow Day, so dress up in bright colours.  Tuesday is Multicultural Clothing Day. Wednesday is the Inside Ride, so dress to support your team or a friend’s team.  Thursday is Canada Day in May, and Friday is Comfy Day.  (May 9)

 

clip_image010 BLOOD DONOR CLINIC: There will be a blood donor clinic at Mother Teresa High School (wood floor gym) on Friday, May 9th. You must be a minimum of 17 years old to donate blood.  If you didn't sign up in your homeroom, please see Mrs. McLaughlin in room 130 to make an appointment. (DM May 9)

clip_image016ATTENTION STUDENTS WHO HAVE REGISTERED FOR CO-OP NEXT YEAR! Co-op interview appointment slips will be given to homeroom teachers throughout the month of May. If you have handed in your application form, then you will be given a co-op interview over the next month. Please inform your parents of your interview and keep the appointment slip in a secure place. If you have a scheduling conflict please see Mrs. O’Sullivan to re-schedule. If you miss your interview you will be re-scheduled for a later date. (MO –May 9)

clip_image018DUAL CREDIT COURSES: Any student in grade 10 or 11 interested in learning more about Dual Credits for next year, please come to Student Services this week to sign up for a presentation on Monday, May 12th at 1:00. Those students who indicated on their option sheets that they would be interested in Dual Credit, please check the list to ensure your name is there. (TC May 9)

clip_image030ABORIGINAL YOUTH CREATIVE WRITING AWARD.  The Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration is looking for submissions for the James Bartleman Aboriginal Youth Creative Writing Award.  Creative writing pieces may include short stories, poems, essays, plays, songs or even comic strips.  Recipients will receive a cash award of $2,500 each. Submission forms and more information are available at www.ontario.ca/bartleman, or by phone at: 1 877 832-8622.  Submissions must be received by May 31, 2014.  See poster on the Student Services Board in the atrium. Jackson Secondary School, 150 Abbeyhill Drive, Kanata.  Also attending are representatives from Algonquin College, Carleton University, Saint Paul University and University of Ottawa.  6:30-7:00 meet and greet, 7:00-7:30 powerpoint presentation from OSAP, 7:30-8:00 Questions and Answers.  RSVP at 613-836-5194. GRADUATION CEREMONY TICKETS: The Graduation Ceremony will take place at Mother Teresa HS on Thursday June 26 from 1:00 - 3:00pm. Please note that each graduate will be given 2 tickets for guests. Students can request extra tickets by signing up in Student Services between Thursday May 1st and Friday May 23. No extra tickets can be requested after May 23. Students will be informed exactly how many extra tickets they will receive shortly there after. (JH May 23)

1) School Letter Application deadline is Thursday May 8

2) OSAP workshop - Monday May 12 - please sign up in Student Services by Friday May 9

3) Please check that the marks on OUAC & OCAS are accurate.
