Two students from the 7 / 8 lunch are also needed to then bring the cooler to the tuck shop right after lunch.  Please see Ms. Dougherty (Martha) in the chapel for more details. (MD –Oct 1)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

clip_image006GRADE 7/8 DANCE CLUB: Any Grade 7 and 8 students interested in signing up for this year’s dance club, please pick up a permission form from Mrs. Cameron in Room 337.  Grade 7's will practice every Tuesday morning from 7:15-8:15 and Grade 8's will practice Thursday mornings from 7:15-8:15.  All practices will take place in the dance studio. Types of dance will include stylized jazz and hip hop. (JC –Oct 4)

7/8 BOYS VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS: Sign-Up at PE offices.  Dates: Wednesday October 5th & Thursday October 6th.  Time: 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM.  Coach: Mrs. Frias.  (TF –Oct 6)

CALLING ALL BUSKERS: The school board is looking for student buskers to perform at a conference at the Centurion Conference Centre, Thursday, November 4th. The performances will be for short periods (30-60 minutes) throughout the day, primarily before and after the conference and at nutrition breaks. You will be asked to stay for half of the day. If you have a talent you want to share, please write up a short description and see Ms. Stuart in room 102 for more details. (CS –Oct 4)

clip_image010CASTING CALL FOR JERSEY SHORE: Well not exactly. .. but Mother Teresa is looking for comic actors, and actresses for this year’s high school play, Break a Leg!.  All students in grades 9-12 who are interested in performing or technical production are welcome to attend the information meeting Wednesday, October 6th at lunch in room 102 (the art room). Please see Ms. Stuart if you have any questions. Auditions will take place the last week of October. (CS –Oct 6)

clip_image016FRANCE-CANADA SUMMER EXCHANGE:   For students 13 to 17 years old. Discover France, experience the French language and culture, live with a French family in July and host your exchange partner in August, make new friends and add an international dimension to your family life.  Registration started September 1st 2010, but applications will be accepted until April 30th, 2011.  Please see all the details in Student Services.  (KW –Oct 6)

clip_image0067/8 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: There is a volleyball try out for girls in grade 7-8 on Tuesday Sept 28th and Thursday Sept 30th in the caf-gym.  Try-out starts at 3:00pm and you should be picked up at 4:15pm.  There are many girls trying out therefore there will be a second round of cuts on Thursday night from 3:00 pm until 4:15 pm pick up time.  If you made the first round on Tuesday, you are joining us on Thursday.  I would like to thank all girls for trying out as it takes courage.  Best of luck to all of you, and see you Tuesday.  Girls that missed the initial sign up are welcome to join us Tuesday after school!  (EM –Sep 30)

CAPPIES: Congratulations to this year's group of Cappies.  The list is posted on the door of Rm 138.  Thank you to everyone who came to the first meeting and expressed an interest in writing for Cappies.  The training session is scheduled for October 18 (Lead Critic on Oct. 5).  Please pick up a permission form in Rm 138 and bring it to our first meeting at lunch on Thursday, September 30 in Rm 138. UNIVERSITY FAIRS: John McCrae Secondary School, 103 Malvern Drive, Nepean is hosting the Ontario University and Atlantic University Fair in the Food Court on the 2nd Floor.  All 21 Ontario Universities and 16 Atlantic Universities will be present at the Fair.

  • ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY FAIR IS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28TH FROM 10:45 AM TO 12:15PM

  • ONTARIO UNIVERSITY FAIR IS TUESDAY, OCTOBER 19TH FROM 9:30 AM TO 11:00 AM

Opportunities include: Blast off to Wellness, a Family fun Day at Confederation High School on Oct 2nd. CNIB is looking for ongoing volunteers. FIT4KIDS are looking for after school help. GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES:  In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June.  As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa: 

·          PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance.  The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by May 13th, 2011.

  • GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 10, 2011.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (SD –Sep 30)
