BookFace Photo Contest in the Learning Commons: 
Bookface involves strategically lining up your face or another body part alongside a book cover that features a matching body part so that there appears a melding of life and art. (New York Times)
Find a book in the LC and take a photo of yourself with the book in place of your own face or body. Examples are on display near the main Learning Commons entrance. All photos must be handed into the LC main desk by Friday, March 29th before 1pm. Photos will be on display in the LC during the month of April. Teachers will be judging the photos and prizes will be awarded to the winning entries. Be creative, have fun, and keep reading! (NBD March 29)

Craft Club: The grade 7/8 craft club meets every Friday at lunch in room 233. Bring your lunch and get ready to be creative! All grade 7 and 8 students welcome!

7/8 Yoga- All students are welcome to come out to yoga on Tuesdays at lunchtime. Yoga takes place in the Dance studio at 12:30. You are welcome to come a little earlier to eat your lunch there before we start yoga. No experience or equipment needed. (KM)

7&8 Swim Team - There will be a MANDATORY meeting for those trying out for the 7&8 swim team on Friday March 1st at lunch in room 234. The meeting will be brief. Please bring your lunch and be prompt. (CP March 1)

7&8 Swim Team -
Those who have signed up for the 7&8 swim team tryouts on March 5th & 7th are reminded to return their signed permission forms to Mme Pendergest (room 234) before March 4th, 2019 (prior to the first tryout). And, for those still questioning whether or not they'd like to tryout - no experience is necessary, so feel free to still sign up! See Mme Pendergest if you have questions. (CP March 4)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Senior Band: The schedule has been changed for the next 4 weeks. All rehearsals have been moved to Thursdays. The next rehearsals are on Thursday March 7, Thursday March 21 and finally, Thursday March 28.  See you all there.           (IC March 28)

Quebec City Ski Trip: For students who participated in the Quebec City ski trip, please see Mr. Buccino in Student Services at lunch time this week to get back the cheque your parents wrote for the damage deposit. (MB March 1)

HS Leadership Camp Leaders Are you going into Grade 12 next year? Have you been to leadership camp or any camp in the past? Do you consider yourself a leader? If yes, please come to an information meeting on Tuesday, March 5th, at lunch, in Student Services to find out how you can be a Grade 12 leader at the SMT Leadership Camp next September. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to visit several federal public safety organizations in the National Capital Area, such as: Canada Border Services Agency, Cdn Security Intelligence Service, Correctional Service Canada, just to name a few. LF Volunteers: Winterman Marathon – Saturday/Sunday February 16/17, 2019 (Canada War Museum)  https://somersault.ca/winterman-run/ Saturday would be from 9 am – 3 pm Indoor – Registration Outside – Site Set Up
Sunday would be from 6:30 am – 2 pm or 3 pm (or whatever time you can spare) Indoor – registration *come prepared to rotate outside positions after 8:30 am Outside (rotating) – Course Marshals, Aid Stations, Finish Line
Lunch is NOT provided (There is a volunteer room nearby for lunch and breaks, as well as the Museum Cafeteria).  We encourage volunteers to bring food/drink to get them through their time with us or purchase food at the Museum Cafeteria.

Musical Theatre/Drama Production: This is an important message for all students currently in grades 8-11 interested in auditioning for next year's musical and those who are interested in taking Drama Production or Grade 10 Dance (musical theatre) next year.  There will be an important information session in the HS dance studio at the beginning of HS lunch and 7/8 Lunch on Thursday, February 28th. This is a semi-formal video dance that all grade 9-12 students are invited to attend - tickets can be purchased on School Cash Online or at school in the Atrium at lunch for $5 (guests are $7 and must be approved by a VP).
