clip_image008PENNIES FOR LENT: Did you know that 2500 pennies can provide clean water for one person for life??  During Lent, MT will be collecting pennies to help people in the developing communities.  In the atrium, students can put their pennies in the Penny Box.  There will be slots for individual homerooms.  So, bring in your pennies and let’s see how many people we can provide clean water for!! (Mar 8)

clip_image010CHOIR PRACTICE FOR MASS IN APRIL: All practices will be held in Rm 119 at lunch. Bring lunch, water bottle and choir folder. Everyone welcome to perform - male voices needed! Music for mass will have a rock theme.  Practice Dates:

  • Wednesday March 27th

  • Thursday April 4th (SS –Apr 4)

clip_image018SPA DAY: Good day!! The lovely ladies of TXJ20 are prepped and ready to offer their first spa day this Friday, March 1st during 2nd period. Basic Manicures will be performed at the low cost of $3!!! Students must have written consent from their teacher - please email Mrs. Champigny (melanie.champigny@ocsb.ca) to book your spot. Space is limited as this is a smaller class. Exact change preferred... no I.O.Us:) See you at the spa!!! (MC –Mar 1)

clip_image020COSTA RICA TRIP:  The parent information meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 5th at 7:30 in room 117.  Any high school student who is interested in next year's  Costa Rica adventure are welcome to come with their parents to this meeting.  Don't miss out, there are only 8-10 spots available. clip_image024LOOKING FOR ONE STUDENT VOLUNTEER to help with prep work for a workshop for Scientists in School Program.  The student volunteer is required to cut wool and raffia for birds' nests.  All materials to complete the task will be provided.  The work can be done at home.  This work can be done over the month of March and into early April.  Please contact Jennifer at 613-823-2235 or see Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services for more information. clip_image028GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES:  In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June.  As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa: 

·          PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance.  The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by Friday May 10th, 2013.

  • GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Monday June 10, 2013.

Forms are available in Student Services, the main office, or on the Mother Teresa website. (JH –Mar 1)

clip_image030PROM COMMITTEE MEETING: All members of the Prom Committee please meet on Monday, March 4, 2013 at lunch. At our last meeting we discussed sub committees and their responsibilities. If you were not in attendance please see a committee member that was, or Mrs. Rennick. All sub committees must come with ideas, proposals and costs at this time. We MUST start DOING and not talking about stuff. The venue, menu, DJ and ticket price are not up for discussion. They are the four set items that I explained at the start were not up for discussion or change. Thank you in advance and if you have any concerns please come and see Mrs. Rennick. (JR –Mar 4)

CARLETON & OTTAWA UNIVERSITY FOLLOW-UP VISITS: Representatives from Carleton and Ottawa U will be at MT to discuss the next steps in the application process including offers of admissions, how to change program, how to choose university courses, etc.

Carleton: Friday March 1 at lunch in the library

Ottawa U: Monday March 4 at lunch in the library

Ottawa U Immersion representative: Tuesday March 5 in the Career Centre. (JH –Mar 5)

When she was 18 years old, Agnes (later, Mother Teresa) left home and joined the Sisters of Loreto in Rathfarnham, Ireland. Although she lived to be 87 years old, she never saw her mother or sister again after the day she left for Ireland.
