Youth Action Grants: United Way has sent the school a copy of their grant package and postcard series as part of their promotional package concerning their Youth Action Grants.

United Way offers Youth Action Grants to students with ideas on how to make Ottawa a better place to live. Youth Action is a program for youth, by youth. Young people choose an issue, decide how they want to improve their school, neighbourhood or community, and then create a community project that turns their ideas into action. Teams can apply for grants of up to $2500 from United Way.

A total of $60,000 in grants will be awarded to young people in the Ottawa area. Projects must be developed and implemented by a team of young people aged 13-19 and require a community sponsor with a registered charitable number. Next application deadline is March 1.

Driver Education Program: Registration forms are in Student Services. Registration runs from now until February 12th, 2007. Cost is $430.36. The in-class lessons are on Wednesday evenings from 3:15 pm - 5:45 pm for ten weeks, starting February 21st. In-car lessons start and end at the school and take place Monday - Friday from immediately after school hours up until 10 pm and/or on Saturday from 8:30 am-5:30 pm.

Gauss Math Contest for Gr. 7 & 8 students: Do you love Math? Are you interested in testing your mathematical skills? Any 7 & 8 student interested in writing the Gauss Mathematics Contest is asked to come to a brief meeting in room 317 on Thursday at lunch. Gr. 7 & 8 Girls Hockey: A reminder for all of the grade 7 & 8 girls that want to play on the junior Girls Hockey team that there is a meeting with Ms. Courneya at the beginning of lunch TODAY.
