WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

From Thursday March 2nd until Friday March 10th yearbooks will be on sale in the Atrium at lunch. We normally sell 700 books and this year 500 have been ordered. Everyone who normally orders a yearbook come down and check to see if you are on the list. There will be no extras in June. (AP March 10)

This is an invitation for any student (grade 7-12) or staff member interested in taking part in a social justice lenten project.  We will meet in the chapel from 3-4pm on Tuesday, February 28th to discuss Share Lent 2017 (a Development and Peace initiative). (HL/Dr Joe)

During the lunch period, no High School student is permitted on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the new wing which is the 7/8 classroom areas. (MK)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

A new Makerspace Club is starting this week @ the Learning Commons. There will be crafts, Lego, knitting and lots more to choose from. The first meeting will be on Thursday, March 2nd at the start of lunch. Don't forget to bring your lunch with you. (NBD March 2)

The next ECO SCHOOL meeting for high school and 7/8 students and staff will be held in room 240 at 3:00 on Wednesday, March 1st.  All are welcome, especially those interested in making a difference and learning how to make our community a more environmentally sustainable place to live. 7&8 Swim Team Try-outs - Those interested in joining the 7&8 swim team are asked to sign up on a list outside Mme Pendergest's room (234).  Try-outs will be on held on February 27th and March 2nd from 3:00-4:00 pm at Minto Recreation Complex (3500 Cambrian Rd). Please see Mme Pendergest for a permission form, as try-outs are held off school property. (CP March 2)

Grade 7/8 students interested in participating on the MT Math Olympics Team are invited to meet in room 240 Tuesday at the beginning of lunch for our first practice.  Practices will be held Tuesday at lunch and Wednesday after school. The Olympics are scheduled for March 8th.  (HL)

All High School players interested in Field Lacrosse for this spring are asked to attend a meeting on Wednesday, March 1st at 11:30 am sharp in the Dance Studio. Attendance is mandatory.  See Mr. Liska in advance if there is a conflict with the meeting time. (JL March 1)

Intramural Fustal Team sign-ups will take place from February 28th-March 7th. Interested students can see Mr. Baird and the Rec Leadership students during High School lunch outside the cafeteria by the Phys. Ed. offices. We are looking for a minimum of 8 teams, consisting of 5-8 players. Cost is $5.00 per team. (RB March 7)

Registration forms for the Winter 2017 Night School Program with the public board are now available in Student
Services.  Once you have completed your form and have signatures from your counsellor and parent along with your student status sheet, you must register in person at 440 Albert Street from Monday, January 23rd to Thursday, February 16th.   The registration office is open from January 23rd to Thursday, February 16th from 9 am to 4 pm.  The office will close at 6pm on Jan 26th/Feb 2nd/Feb 9th and 7:30 on Feb 16th.  The Winter session runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 9:51pm.  First night is Tuesday, February 21st and last night is Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Woodroffe HS (2410 Georgina Drive)

The Irish Experience Summer Programs in Ireland.  27 days in duration and offers 110 hours of instructional time to fulfill requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum requirements. Christie Lake Kids Camp is looking to hire staff for this summer.  This is a summer volunteer position. The position is open to youth aged 15-17.  Students receive extensive training to work with at-risk children and youth in a residential environment while earning first aid and swimming certifications, 650 volunteer hours are also awarded for each summer of work.  Please see the Student Services Bulletin Board in the atrium for more information and application.

Through faculty presentations, an information fair and campus tours, students will be able to: discover their future campus (classrooms, residences and sports facilities), meet experts and get answers to their questions, speak with current uOttawa students . (JH March 17)

7/8 Boys Hockey: Tryouts are Monday, February 27th at 3:00pm at MInto (North Arena) and on Tuesday, February 28th at 4:00pm at Minto (South Arena). (BC Feb. 28)

"Cabane a Sucre" (Sugar Shack) Excursion - Core Grade 7 & 8 students are invited to attend an all-day visit to a Sugar Shack on March 24th, 2017. The day will include viewing artifacts in the museum, touring the sugar bush, participating in a geocaching activity, savouring taffy-on-the-snow and enjoying a traditional pancake breakfast.
