St. Mother Teresa Remembrance Day Service -Friday November 9th: We will be hosting two Services in the cafeteria gym the first beginning at 9:00 am for students in Grades 7, 8, 9 and a second Service following at approximately 10:00 am  for Grades 10, 11 and 12.  We are extending a special invitation to any military parents, grandparents, etc. currently serving or retired.  Your presence, dressed in uniform if possible, would be most appreciated.  A reception will follow  in the Learning Commons (library) after the second Service.  Please contact Jacqueline Kinloch if you are able to attend,jacqueline.kinloch@ocsb.ca (JK Nov. 8)

Spirit Week: October 29-November 2

Monday, October 29th - Sports Day (Jerseys, etc)
Tuesday, October 30th - Black & Orange Day
Wednesday, October 31st - Costume Day (wear your costume, no weapons or masks)
Thursday, November 1st - PJ Day (comfy 'around the house' clothes)
Friday, November 2nd - Decades Day/ Retro Day (dress up from any era in the past) 

2019 Technovation: Any girls interested in participating in this year’s  2019 Technovation Challenge are asked to pick up an information package from Resource Room 132. “Girls in grades 7-12 (will) work in teams of 3-5, paired with a female mentor from high tech, to develop a mobile app that is relevant to their community, conduct market research, write business plans, and create a “pitch” for funding. There is a monetary prize for the winning Ottawa team and the chance for the top 2-3 teams to compete globally! Last year’s top teams came from Colonel By, Mother Teresa and Summerside Public School. 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

HS. Boys Hockey try-outs will be held on Tuesday, November 6th. from 3:30-4:30 at the Nepean Sportsplex 3 (back rink)  This is full contact hockey and full hockey gear is mandatory. (MG Nov. 6)

Makerspace Club: Our Makerspace club is so popular, we need to divide the club into two different groups. The first group will now meet on Mondays at lunch and will include students from 7-01 - 7-05. Our Tuesday group will include students from 7-06 - 7-10 and all students from grade 8.

New Group for 7/8's concerned about the LGBTQ+ Community: We are starting a new group for students who are concerned about LGBTQ+ safety and inclusion in our school community.  Inspired by our school motto "Love and Dignity', we will gather to help create safer spaces for LGBTQ+ students at SMT.  All our welcome.  Our first meeting will be in Mr. Connor's room #333 on Thursday, November 1st at lunch. More info on the Titans Den Business board or see us in rm 213 to discuss past participants from SMT who went on to participate in Junior Team Canada trade missions to China and Papua New Guinea! (SM Nov. 15)

Titans Den Business Club  will meet on Wednesday, November 7th at lunch for a special networking event in room 213. New members welcome! The club offers many opportunities for skills development, leadership, and fun. See us in room 213 for more info. (SM Nov. 8)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

LF Volunteers: The Barrhaven BIA is hosting a breakfast with Santa event right here at St. Mother Teresa High School on November 18th .This is a great chance to get volunteer hours but an even better chance to see little kids have fun with Santa. Here is what you need... Volunteers will be helping with serving and cleaning up from breakfast, helping in the Arts and Crafts room, coffee service, helping with the Photo booth, greeting people and letting them know where everything is. Students will be required to be at the school at 7:15am and will most likely be there until 12noon. I will give each student 5 hours of volunteer time and more if they have to stay later. For more information please check your student email account. (KZ Nov. 17)
