Red Pine Leadership camp: Are you interested in attending a leadership camp run by Red Pine camp.  A one week overnight camp, for youth entering grades 7-11, will run the last week of August.  The camp will focus on leadership training.  Days at camp are filled with games, sports, drama, swimming, crafts, boating, low ropes course and so much more. If you are interested, or would like more information, please see Mrs. Byrne in Student Services.  Deadline to apply is March 15th.  

Ottawa University’s Mini Medical School presents:

Girls Indoor Soccer:There will be a tryout for any girls interested in trying out for an indoor 7 vs 7 soccer tournament. Tryouts will be March 6th and 7th at 7:30am in the wood floor gym. (CN March 7)

Read-A-Thon students: A big thank you to all of this year's Read-A-Thon students and to all of their sponsors. If you did not get a chance to complete the Read-A-Thon Wish List, you can still make requests for LC resources (books, technology...) all week at the LC front desk. Thanks again! (NBD March 2)

8 Swim Team - Tryouts will take place at MINTO Recreation Complex March 5 & 7th from 3:00 - 4:00 pmPlease attend both tryouts. Competitive and non-competitive swimmers welcome and no background is necessary. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the pool. Permission forms are posted outside of room 234. All swimmers are reminded to bring their permission form to Mme Pendergest prior to the first tryout. Please note that students who make the team must be able to commit to practices on Tuesdays & Thursdays between April 10 - May 3rd. The Swim Meet will be on May 9th, 2018. (CP March 7)

HS After-School Literacy Prep Course is cancelled on March 6th, 2018, but will resume March 8th. (CP March 6)

Swim Team: Friday, March 2nd will be our award ceremony in room 310. Bring something to drink, lunch is provided! Any dietary restrictions should be given to Mr. Côté before Wednesday. (PC, Mar 2)

Blood Donation Next Monday March 5th - all students who have handed in their paperwork and any other students who are interested in donating blood, please come and see Ms. Soprovich in room 202 on Thursday, March 1st at the beginning of lunch. Confirming numbers and eligibility. (SS March 1)

Biology Competition: Meeting on Friday, March 2nd at lunch in room 202. Students will be requested to confirm their intention to participate in the event. Review will be handed out as well. (SS March 2)

Peer Helpers: There will be a Peer Helper meeting Wednesday, Feb 28th in room 310 at lunch. We've been approved for funding and we'd love some ideas for initiatives we could bring to the school before the end of the year. (PC Feb 28)

  • The Makerspace club is a fun club that includes crafts, Lego, knitting and so much more. This club will meet every Monday during HS lunch. 
  • Our White Pine book club will meet every Friday at lunch. This year's club will be reading up to 10 Fiction selections selected specifically for students in grades 9-12. The titles have been announced and will be discussed at this week's meeting.

OCSB Baysitting Course: Our OCSB Continuing and Community Education Department is offering the Canada Safety Council babysitting training course at our school for the winter 2018 session. Dates are: Saturday, January 13th, February 3rd or March 3rd, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.  The cost is $70. Students must be 12 years of age, must establish a passing grade of 75% on the final exam to receive their certificate. Students are asked to bring their own lunch and snacks to the class. Nokia Future Tech Internship 2018: If you are a student going into grade 12 who is curious, interested or has a passion
​ for Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics, this is the internship for you. The Future Tech Internship is a 7-week program that will have you working alongside Nokia engineering teams solving real, technical problems. Over the course of the summer, you will contribute to meaningful work while receiving support and valuable lessons from a Nokia Future Tech Mentor. You will discover new possibilities and skills that will help you make an impact on the future of technology. LF Volunteers: KIDSFEST Ottawa, Saturday, March 3rd from 8:30am-4:00pm (can be all day or a block of 4 hours)
Sunday, March 4th from 9:00am-4:00pm (can be all day or block of 4 hours) 
A volunteer t-shirt is provided, casual dress (jeans, bk pants ok).
Lunch and water provided. Student volunteers will be assigned various jobs such as: ticket scanning, info booth, requesting attendees to complete surveys, supervising the bouncy castle, supervising the Green Room (performers room/items), assisting exhibitors at their booth (some may have interactive displays), assisting exhibitors engage children to get involved them involved in an activity. The students should speak English and/or French (other languages helpful)
The students should enjoy a loud and lively and public environment.  
Children attending KIDSFEST are accompanied by an adult at all times; however, children may get lost (or parent) and the student volunteer may need to help SHOW Management. Beginner Driver Education - Winter 2018 - with DTSM Driving School - Register online at conted.ocsb.ca or by mailing/faxing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing Education Department (570 West Hunt Club Road).  Registration forms are available in Student Services.  Registration runs until February 16th.  Classes at St. Mother Teresa High School will run on Wednesdays, from 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm. First class is February 28th.
