Day 2 - H.S. & Day 5 - Gr. 7 & 8
ATTENTION 7-8 BAND STUDENTS: Are you a leader? Do you want to make the Mother Teresa Music Department a better place? Do you want a say in what happens? Then you should run for the 7/8 Student Music Council. Any student who is interested should attend a meeting in room 120 today at the beginning of lunch.
7-8 BAND TRIP: Any 7/8 Band student who has not received a letter and form for the trip to the NAC on November 30th, needs to see Mrs. Antoine today to get one. Don't miss out on a fabulous opportunity!
ATTENTION 7-8 STUDENTS: The music room will be open at lunch on Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday.
GRADE 7 & 8 MATH! Any student interested in writing the Euler (grade 7) or Lagrange (grade 8) Math contests this year are asked to sign up outside room 236 by Friday, October 26th. For more information about these contests see Ms. Brownrigg.
LIBRARY CLOSURES: Thursday, October 18th during Grade 7/8 lunch and Friday, October 19 the library is closed all day.
ENRICHMENT MEETING: Thursday, Oct 18 during 7 & 8 Lunch. Please bring your lunch to Room 132.
PEER HELPING: Very brief and very important meeting for all Peer Helpers on Thursday at the start of lunch in room 326. Those helping with making posters are to meet TODAY after school in Student Services.
VARSITY GIRLS HOCKEY: A reminder to members of the Varsity Girls Hockey team to please bring in their outstanding athletic fee to their game this Thursday.
INTERESTED IN COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS: Interested in community service hours? Mother Teresa is putting together a TUG OF WAR team to compete against other high schools, police department, fire department as part of a fundraiser for the Union Mission High school. 20 hours available for a full Saturday on October 27. Only serious individuals should inquire with Mr. Prigent this week. We need 6 more males to round out the co-ed team. Must be in grades 11 or 12.
PICTURE RE-TAKES: Lifetouch will be here this Friday, Oct. 19, for picture re-takes. If you missed the first picture day, be sure to have your picture taken this Friday in order to obtain your student ID card. There is no cost if you simply want the ID card. Packages are available if you want to order more photos.
MATH CONTEST: The first of six CNML (Canadian Math League) contests takes place on Tuesday, October 23 during period 2. Students must report to their period 2 class for attendance before making their way to the library for the contest. The contest takes 30 minutes and is open to all high school students.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: Friends of the Jock River are organizing an environmental project for this Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It involves wrapping the lower part of trees in the Half Moon Bay area (Greenbank Rd. area) to protect them from beavers. If you are interested in helping out, sign up in Student Services.
INTRAMURALS: Intramural sign ups begin this week. Look for a sign in the atrium. Cost is $1 per player and the first activity is Dodgeball. All teams must have at least one male and one female on it. Deadline is this Friday.
YEARBOOK PHOTOGRAPHERS: This Thursday, October 18th is the deadline to submit all Yearbook photos from the first assignments of the year. Please come to Room 103 after school at 3:05 on Thursday to download your photos. These include: Welcome Back, Terry Fox, Spirit Week, What's in your Locker, What's in your Backpack, Students Learning, Leadership Camp, and the Stratford Trip. All Committee members who attended the In-Design training workshop are also asked to attend on Thursday to begin designing some pages.
SCHOLARSHIPS: To see a list of Scholarships sent to the school: Go to www.MTHS.ca click on the News and Docs menu, click on Grads, follow the link to scholarships. This link will be updated periodically so check back from time to time.
QUEBEC UNIVERSITIES IN OTTAWA: The three English language Quebec Universities, McGill, Concordia and Bishops, will have representatives in Ottawa on Thursday, Oct. 18 at Woodroffe H.S. to explain programs and admission requirements. Program begins at 7:00 p.m.
