Day 1 - H.S. & Day 4 - Gr. 7 & 8
RED MAPLE CLUB: What: Reading club for Grade 7/8 students. Why: Read books by Canadian authors, have fun! When: First meeting is on Wednesday, October 31 at the start of Junior lunch. Bring your lunch with you to the library. Where: Library seminar room. Grade 7/8 students interested in joining the Red Maple Club are to drop by the library to pick up a Red Maple lunch pass before Wednesday's meeting.
MULITICULTURAL CLUB: GRADE 7s AND 8s - Just a reminder of our little Hallowe'en gathering today at lunch. Bring a treat to share if you want. For more information see Mrs. Birmingham in room 306.
LIBRARY CLOSURE: The library will be closed after school on Wednesday, October 31st.
YOUTH MINISTRY MEETING: TODAY at 11:45 in the chapel. We need to get begin to plan for Christmas Baskets! Everyone is welcome to join.
TAKE OUR KIDS TO WORK DAY: Wednesday, November 7th is Take Our Kids To Work Day. There are no classes for Gr. 9 students on that day. Students have been given information pamphlets and permission forms. The permission forms are to be returned to the homeroom teacher by Monday, Nov. 5th.
REACH FOR THE TOP: Students interested in entering the annual Reach In-School Tourney should pick up entry forms in Room 200 as soon as possible. An information session will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 12:00-12:15 in Room 203 (Mr. Miller's Mindscape) for those requiring more data.
CAPPIES: You must have your permission form returned by Wednesday morning (Oct. 31) or you will not be able to attend the training session. Please see Mrs. Simpson.
PUMPKING CARVING CONTESTS: Each H.S. homeroom is to send two representatives to the atrium after homeroom TODAY. Pumpkins and carving materials will be supplied. Prizes will be awarded to the top three homerooms in each division. Come by the atrium at lunch to see the final results!
DOOR DECORATING CONTESTS: The Halloween door decorating contests will take place this week. Doors should only be decorated on the judging day. All doors must be cleaned up on Thursday, November 1. 7/8 homerooms will be judged TODAY, and high school homerooms will be judged on Wednesday October 31st. Judging will occur between 9:10 and 9:25 am. Prizes will be awarded to the top three homerooms in each division.
DRESS UP FOR HALLOWEEN: All staff and students are encouraged to dress up on Wednesday, October 31st. A reminder that masks are NOT permitted, and costumes should be appropriate to be worn at school. Best Costume contests will be held during both senior and junior lunch in the Cafeteria. Come out and vote for your favorite costumes!! Show your Halloween spirit MT!!
MATH TUTOR WANTED: LF a Math and English tutor for a Grade 7 boy once or twice a week, after 5:30pm for one hour. All those interested should call Ikram at 613 843-9660.
MT COFFEE HOUSE: Student Council is hosting our 3rd Annual Coffee House on Thursday, November 1st. Performers from grades 7 through 12 will sing, dance and play for your enjoyment. Admission is $2 at the door, and refreshments, including Starbucks coffee and homemade treats, will be available for a small fee. Doors open at 6:45 pm and the show will run from about 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Everyone is welcome!! High school students can get a sneak preview of the high school acts during period 4 on Thursday. Just bring $2 to your period 4 teacher to buy out of class, and come down and see your very talented classmates perform!
INTRAMURAL SOCCER: Soccer sign ups continue this week, get your teams in early. Only a maximum of 8 teams will be accepted. First come first served. Envelopes and team forms can be found at Mr. Prigent's Phys. Ed. office. Deadline is November 2. $1 per player.
LF VOLUNTEERS FOR 2 EVENTS SPONSORED BY THE BARRHAVEN LIONS CLUB:
1. The Santa Clause parade (November 17th) needs marshalls along the route and other posts. Each student would need to report to a marshalling area at 5:00 pm on that evening and would receive credit for 3-4 hours.
2. Assistance with the sale of Xmas trees at the IKEA store on the weekends of November 23-24-25, November 30-Dec 1-2 and December 14-15-16. Friday hours 7pm-9:30pm; Saturday hours; 9am-1pm; 1pm-4pm; 4pm-7pm; 7pm-9pm; Sunday hours; 10am-1pm; 1pm-4pm; 4pm-6:30pm.
