7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Can all Grade 8 students going to Toronto please return their Toronto forms to their homeroom teachers by Tuesday, February 26th. Each morning during homeroom can you please send ONE student with all forms to room 332. (Ms. Mandia's room) Teachers you do not need to check off anything just need the forms in my class. Craft Club: The grade 7/8 craft club meets every Friday at lunch in room 233. Bring your lunch and get ready to be creative! All grade 7 and 8 students welcome!

7/8 Yoga- All students are welcome to come out to yoga on Tuesdays at lunchtime. Yoga takes place in the Dance studio at 12:30. You are welcome to come a little earlier to eat your lunch there before we start yoga. No experience or equipment needed. (KM)

7&8 Swim Team - Those who have signed up for the 7&8 swim team tryouts on March 5th & 7th are reminded to return their signed permission forms to Mme Pendergest (room 234) before March 4th, 2019 (prior to the first tryout). And, for those still questioning whether or not they'd like to tryout - no experience is necessary, so feel free to still sign up! See Mme Pendergest if you have questions. (CP March 4)


HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Biology Competition: Any grade 11 or 12 high school student interested in writing the Toronto Biology Competition Test this year is invited to attend an information meeting on Thursday, February 28th in room 202 during senior lunch or see Ms. Soprovich in room 202. (SS Feb. 28)

Attention highschool students - Calling all adventurers!  Lovers of monkeys, turtles, frogs and other exotic animals! Pick up your permission forms NOW outside Mrs Brownrigg's room (Room 209) for the Costa Rica Experience happening March 2020.  Sign up soon to reserve your spot on this amazing trip! (LB March 8)

HS Dance: On Thursday, February 28th  Student Council and MUCH MUSIC VIDEO are hosting the SMT Choice Awards & Semi Formal Dance at St. Mother Teresa. This is a semi-formal video dance that all grade 9-12 students are invited to attend - tickets can be purchased on School Cash Online or at school in the Atrium at lunch for $5 (guests are $7 and must be approved by a VP). Check your my.mths account to see if you've bought a ticket! (TN Feb. 26)

STUDENT SERVICES

Grades 8-11: Any student that missed the course selection class presentations last week can come to Student Services Thursday, February 22nd during their lunch if they would like more information before choosing their courses for next year. Course Selection is due March 4th at 9:00 am. This presentation is posted on the Student Services Website ss.mths.ca under Course Selection Information. Parents are invited to the Course Selection Presentation on February 26th at 6:00. (TC Feb 26)

Young Women in Public Safety Program will be held from July 15-19, 2019. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to visit several federal public safety organizations in the National Capital Area, such as: Canada Border Services Agency, Cdn Security Intelligence Service, Correctional Service Canada, just to name a few. Grad Write-Ups for Yearbook:Attention Grads! It's that time of year! The yearbook class is looking for your grad write-ups.  Please submit a write up from your student email to yearbookclassmt@gmail.com by no later than March 5th. Your write-ups must be no more than 40 words in length.  Please ensure that the content in your write-up is school appropriate. (LL March 5)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

LF Volunteers: Winterman Marathon – Saturday/Sunday February 16/17, 2019 (Canada War Museum)  https://somersault.ca/winterman-run/ Saturday would be from 9 am – 3 pm Indoor – Registration Outside – Site Set Up
Sunday would be from 6:30 am – 2 pm or 3 pm (or whatever time you can spare) Indoor – registration *come prepared to rotate outside positions after 8:30 am Outside (rotating) – Course Marshals, Aid Stations, Finish Line
Lunch is NOT provided (There is a volunteer room nearby for lunch and breaks, as well as the Museum Cafeteria).  We encourage volunteers to bring food/drink to get them through their time with us or purchase food at the Museum Cafeteria.
