7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Can all
Grade 8 students going to Toronto please return their Toronto forms to
their homeroom teachers by Tuesday,
February 26th. Each morning during homeroom can you please send ONE student
with all forms to room 332. (Ms. Mandia's room) Teachers you do not need to check off anything just need the
forms in my class. Thank you! (SM Feb. 26)

Rescheduled 7/8 Boys Hockey Tryouts:
Tuesday, February 19th from 4:30-5:30 at Nepean Sportsplex
Wednesday, February 20th from 4:00-5:00 at Howard Darwin Centennial

Craft Club: The grade 7/8 craft club
meets every Friday at lunch in room 233. Bring your lunch and get
ready to be creative! All grade 7 and 8 students welcome!

New members are welcome to join Red Maple, Makerspace, and Titans for

7/8 Yoga- All students are welcome
to come out to yoga on Tuesdays at lunchtime. Yoga takes place in the Dance
studio at 12:30. You are welcome to come a little earlier to eat your lunch
there before we start yoga. No experience or equipment needed. (KM)
7&8 Swim Team - Those who
have signed up for the 7&8 swim team tryouts on March 5th & 7th are
reminded to return their signed permission forms to Mme Pendergest (room 234)
before March 4th, 2019 (prior to the
first tryout). And, for those still questioning whether or not they'd like to
tryout - no experience is necessary, so feel free to still sign up! See Mme
Pendergest if you have questions. (CP March 4)

Music Showcase: Any High
School Band students wishing to attend this years Music Showcase please see Mr.
Card ASAP for parent form and info packet. (IC March 2)

HS Dance: On Thursday, February
28th Student Council and MUCH MUSIC VIDEO are hosting the SMT Choice
Awards & Semi Formal Dance at St. Mother Teresa. This is a semi-formal
video dance that all grade 9-12 students are invited to attend - tickets can be
purchased on School Cash Online or at school in the Atrium at lunch for $5 (guests
are $7 and must be approved by a VP). Check your my.mths account to see if
you've bought a ticket! (TN Feb. 26)
STUDENT SERVICES
Grades 8-11: Any student that missed
the course selection class presentations last week can come to Student Services
Thursday, February 22nd during
their lunch if they would like more information before choosing their courses
for next year. Course Selection is due
March 4th at 9:00 am. This presentation is posted on the Student
Services Website ss.mths.ca under Course Selection
Information. Parents are invited to the
Course Selection Presentation on February 26th at 6:00. (TC Feb 26)
Young Women in Public Safety
Program will be held from July 15-19, 2019. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to
visit several federal public safety organizations in the National Capital Area,
such as: Canada Border Services Agency, Cdn Security Intelligence Service,
Correctional Service Canada, just to name a few. For more information,

leaflets in Student Services. Complete the application process through the Federal
Student Work Experience program.
Western University is having its
March Break Open House on Saturday, March 9, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Study and Go Abroad Fair is
taking place Saturday, March 2nd, at le Palais des
congres de Montréal. Expo is from 1pm to 5pm. The seminars are

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
LF Volunteers: Winterman Marathon
– Saturday/Sunday February 16/17, 2019 (Canada War Museum) https://somersault.ca/winterman-run/ Saturday would be from 9 am
– 3 pm Indoor – Registration Outside – Site Set Up
Sunday would
be from 6:30 am – 2 pm or 3 pm (or whatever time you can
spare) Indoor – registration *come prepared to rotate outside positions
after 8:30 am Outside (rotating) – Course Marshals, Aid Stations, Finish
Line
Lunch is
NOT provided (There is a volunteer room nearby for lunch and breaks, as well as
the Museum Cafeteria). We encourage volunteers to bring food/drink to get
them through their time with us or purchase food at the Museum Cafeteria.

near the Museum. Sunday - suggest being picked up and dropped
