HS Day 2

ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Learning Commons will be closed all day tomorrow.
Devices and books will not be available to sign out. Please make alternate
arrangements. Thank you! (NBD June 15)
Lost and Found - items will be set out next Monday, June 19th in front of student services. Any
items left on Friday
June 23rdwill be donated to the Boys and Girls club of Barrhaven. (SS June 19)
At the end of the day,
the expectation for students who are not involved in any extracurricular
activities, is that students leave the building and make their way home.
Students who wish to remain after school to watch a school sporting event, are
also expected to leave immediately after the game. Make sure
transportation arrangements are made in advance. In the future, students
who are found loitering around the school at the end of the day will formally
speak to an administrator. (MK)
During the lunch period, no High School student
is permitted on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the new wing which is the 7/8
classroom areas. (MK)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Red Maple Club: A reminder to all Red Maple club members of the Red
Maple Celebration this Friday,
June 16th. Please report to your homeroom class and after
homeroom, go to the Learning Commons with everything you need for the day.
Final reminders: Bring a bottle for water and dress in Red or in costume as a character from one of the books (there will be a
contest and prizes for the best costume). (NBD June 15)
Ambassador Meeting: There will be
a brief but important meeting for all Ambassadors at 12:45 in the chapel on Friday, June 15th. (TC June 15)
Any grade 7 or 8 students who still owes
"reed" money to Mr. Card, please pay Mr. Card as soon as possible. (IC June 23)
HIGH SCHOOL
ANNOUNCEMENTS
HS Football: There will be
a brief meeting today at the beginning of lunch in room 119 for all high school
students interested in playing football next year. (AC June 15)
Semester 1 Visual
Arts students: Students who left their artwork in room 102 to be displayed at the
Arts Gala and other events are asked to come and pick up their artwork in the
art room this week. (CR June 20)

The STUDENT SERVICES WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool,
including information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses,
Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.
Driver
Education Program Summer 2017. Registration forms are now available in
Student Services. Register on-line at conted.ocsb.ca, by fax 613-224-9253, by mail or in person at the Ottawa Catholic
School Board, 570 West Hunt Club Road, Nepean. (KW)
Summer School Registration forms from the Ottawa Catholic School Board
are now available in Student Services. Registration period is from May 1
to June 28. Final registration date is Wednesday, June 28,
from 9am to 1pm at St. Nicholas Adult High School (West Campus) 893
Admiral Avenue. Forms must be completed/signed by student and parent and then
approved by a Student Services counsellor. Summer school locations are
Holy Trinity HS, Immaculata HS, St. Pius X HS and L.B. Pearson HS. L.B.
Pearson has online courses only. (KW)
VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES

helping with the different activities that we have, such as overseeing the kids
at the inflatables and different activity stations

Service Opportunity. Senior Citizen living in our area is looking to have
someone mow their lawn. She is also willing to pay if necessary.

Volunteers: June 23 - 5pm - 8pm. I need volunteers for the MPB Year
End BBQ. We need students to help with painting nails, tattoos,
sno-cones, cotton candy, etc. It is a 3 hour commitment and the
volunteers will be fed supper.

June 26th - 2pm - 4pm. I will need
volunteers to help decorate the gym for the MPB Leaving Ceremony

June 27th - 8:30am -
Noon. I will need a couple of volunteers to help with the MPB Leaving Ceremony. Serving
cake and drinks, clean-up and take down of decorations.

Volunteers: Break Free 5k taking place this Saturday, June
17th, 2017 at Andrew Haydon Park. This 5k event is being put on by the Public
Health Agency of Canada as well as the Canadian Cancer Society. Runners have
committed to quit smoking and adopting a healthier lifestyle - starting with
training and taking part in this event! We are looking for help with
monitoring the course, helping at a water station,
supervising play stations (mini obstacles), registration, set up and tear down. Where –

receive a volunteer t-shirt and I will be on site to sign off on your volunteer

Volunteers: We are having a Food Truck Rally Event in Manotick , June 24th 2017,
11am-4pm. There will be 8 food trucks, Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Ice cream,
Texan, pizza, seafood, desserts... Children's bouncy castle, Princess
Manicures ( polish only), balloons, tattoo parlour...We are looking for
volunteers to help with the event and would love to have some students
come out help us for a family and fun day! In return we can give the students
volunteer hours. Every student will be given a token for 2 beverages and 1
token for a food order.

2 bouncy
castle assistants: Duties include; children guidance going in and out of the bouncy
castle and mini slide attached. Parents will be there as well. 20 mins
break for snacks.
2 polish
assistants: Duties include; polishing nails for princesses. 20mins break for
snacks

for the Hydro Ottawa’s 2017 United Way Family Fun Day! (KW June 16)
When: June
17, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Four Seasons Park on Spratt Road in
Riverside South
While the event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., we’re looking for volunteers who are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help with both the setup and takedown and take part in various
activities such as face painting, a bouncy castle, a petting zoo and more.
Alternatively, you may choose to volunteer for a half-day.
