WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Christmas Blessing Collection 2015. It's that wonderful time of the year when our homerooms are collecting money for food gift cards so we can distribute them to local families the Christmas. Homerooms should set a goal, and maybe even enter into a competition with another class to encourage some generosity this time of the year. Our collection finishes on Dec 16th. #mttitanpride. Hour of Code: The Learning Commons will be hosting Hour of Code participants Monday afternoon, all day Wednesday and all day Friday this week.  Please note that most of our mobile devices will be used for the workshops and will not be available for sign-out by students during these times.  Please plan accordingly.  We will also be closed for both lunches on Wednesday and 7/8 Lunch on Friday. The OCSB Choirs will be presenting their annual Christmas Concert on Monday, December 14th at 7:30 PM at St. Basil’s Church (Maitland at the 417).  The concert, “A Light Has Come” features the OCSB Children’s Choir, Chamber Choir, Boys Choir and guests.  Tickets are $15 at the door or $25, the Choir’s 25th  Anniversary fundraiser ticket price.  Choristers are students from 36 schools across the Board. Of the 116 students in the choir, 18 attend schools in the Mother Teresa Family of Schools. (KW Dec. 14)

Alpine Ski Team: Please pick up a permission form outside room 201.  Our first practice will be after school in the weight room on Wednesday November 24th and then December 2nd and December 9th. (AB Dec. 9)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Grade 7 & 8 Boy's Floorball Tryouts- Grade 7 - Friday Dec 11th 3:00 till 4:00 pm in Cafeteria Gym. 

Grade 8 - Monday Dec 14th- 3:00 till 4:00 in Cafeteria Gym.  Final Tryouts (Invitation only) Wednesday Dec 16th 3:00 till 4:00 in Cafeteria Gym. (GR Dec .14)

7-8 School Play: Auditions for the play will now take place in the new year, following the Christmas Break. Please listen for announcements regarding this when we return. Thank you to all those who have signed up. Looking forward to watching your auditions. (JB Dec. 18)

Intramurals update: Our next game is DODGEBALL!

Please check the schedule posted on the bulletin board outside Mr. Quinn's office to find out when your homeroom team is playing, and which class is in the lead for points! (KB Dec. 11)

7-8 School Play: Attention all 7-8 students interested in being in this year's school play: Diary of a Wallflower by Craig Sodaro. Auditions are taking place on the week of December 14th. Sign up sheets and audition scripts will be posted on Mme Beraldin's door this Friday November 27th. Please spread the word. (JB Dec. 14)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Any H.S. students interested in refereeing the Elementary Lacrosse Tournament on Thursday, Dec.10th are asked to see Mr. Liska on Monday or Tuesday. (JL Dec .10)

Debate Club: High school students are invited to attend any or all of the following Debate Club dates.  All meetings are until 4:15 and will take place in Rm. 138 after school.

Monday, December 14

We need a minimum of four debaters to attend each meeting.  The mock debates are a great way to develop thinking and oral skills.  Plus, it's a lot of fun. November 2 resolution: This House would abolish grades and adopt a pass or fail educational system. (JS Dec. 14)

The STUDENT SERVICES WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool, including information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses, Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.

Acadia University is offering a Parent and Student Night at the Hotel Indigo Ottawa, Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 7pm.  Register online at www.recruitment.acadiau.ca. (KW Dec.9)

Any grade 12 student applying for a Prestigious Award (scholarship) at a university for next year is required to submit their application to Student Services a minimum of 1 week before the due date. Please do not request letters of reference from a teacher until you have submitted your application to Student Services and spoken to your Guidance Counsellor. (JH Dec. 18)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers Needed for Ottawa's 2nd Annual Princess Party for CHEO - January 3rd , 2016. Not an all girl event, coat check, security, coffee and other non-girly roles ... don't be shy. 

Monday Dec. 7th from 8-9 pm - Richcraft Recreation Centre (Kanata North)-meeting.

Saturday January 2 - set up 7pm-9pm

Sunday January 3 - 8:15am - 1pm - event

"Like working with children?  Need volunteer hours?  Enjoy Christmas activities?" Volunteers needed Saturday December 12 from 9-2. Mother Teresa will be hosting a Kids Christmas Party (for MT staff) and we are looking for volunteers to help set up/clean up, decorate cookies, do crafts, play games and face paint.  If you are interested please see Mrs. Chiasson (130), Mrs. DePippo (237) or Mrs. Cameron (337). LF Volunteers for the Manotick Family Christmas Party on Saturday, December 5th, 2015.  We need students from 1pm to 4:30pm to help with the 10 activity stations set up in the basement of the Manotick United Church.  It's a fun afternoon.  Please contact Donna Ouellette or Laurel Slattery at 613-692-4625 (Rideau Valley Child Care Centre).
