WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Boys Flag Rugby Practice: will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday after school this week.  Please bring cleats and water.  Be ready to start warm up at 3:00pm! (JD Oct. 2)

Looking for a place to work on your math homework?  How about working with a math teacher and getting some additional practice/ support?  Need more of a challenge in math?  Math Munchers is back!  Bring your lunch to room 237 Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.  Please get a pass from your math teacher to attend. (JD Oct. 2)

7-8 Girls Volleyball: All 7-8 girls interested in trying out for this year's volleyball team are asked to sign up outside room 332 before Friday of this week. Tryouts will be held Tuesday September 29th and Wednesday September 30th, from 3-4pm in the Caf. gym. (JB Sept. 30)

7/8 Cross- Country Running: Grade 7/8 cross-country try-outs have started.  We are practicing Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after school.  Make sure you've signed up on the list outside Mme Kinloch's classroom.  The meet is October 1st. (JK Oct. 1)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Cappies 2015-2016: Please see Mrs Simpson in room 138 today to pick up a parental authorization form. These must be submitted to the Cappies organizers this week. You cannot participate in the program without it. Thank you. (JS Oct. 2)

Curling Team: There will be an information meeting for all students (male or female) interested in participating in the high school curling teams this year.  The meeting will be at 11:30am on Tuesday, October 6th in the Dance Studio.  All students who want to be considered for try-outs MUST attend.  Please see Mrs. Donaghy or Mrs. Robinson if you have any questions. Business Competition! Compete in the annual High School Perfect Pitch Competition held at Ottawa University on October 28th.  Help us defend our title!  (Mother Teresa students have won four years running!!!)  Get more info and pick up your permission form in room 216 or 213. Opportunity is knocking...  Sign up now! (SM Oct. 21)

There will be a meeting at lunch on Wednesday, September 30 for all students interested in designing and creating costumes for Peter Pan, and a meeting on Thursday, October 1 for students interested in designing, building and painting sets for Peter Pan. Both meetings will take place on the stage. See Ms. Laviolette or Mrs. Rose if you have any questions. (MR Oct. 1)

HS Lunch Club: All HS grades are welcome to attend The Lunch Club in room 135, every Day 2 if you're looking for a welcoming spot to enjoy your lunch. We have music, riddles, and games if you're interested but feel free to come by and just eat your lunch with us if you want. (KM)

Girls Hockey: The final girls hockey tryout will take place Wednesday September 30 at the Sportsplex #2 from 3:30-4:30. (MG Sept. 30)

Student Tutors: Want to share what you've learned? If you are interested in tutoring another MT student, please pick up an application form in Student Services.  You can earn $10 an hour or earn community service hours. (MP Sept. 30)

The STUDENT SERVICES WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool, including information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses, Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.

Driver Education Registration forms are now available in Student Services. Sign up quickly as class sizes are limited.  Classes start at MTHS on Wednesday, October 21st from 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm.  Students must be at least 16 years of age and have a G1 license prior to October 19, 2015. Fee is $673.48 You may register online at www.fallconnections.com or by mailing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing Education Department (570 West Hunt Club Road) or by calling 613-228-3338 to register with VISA or MasterCard. Carleton University is coming to visit our school on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm, location TBD. (KW Oct. 14)

Lakehead University will be visiting our school on November 18, 2015 at 2:45 pm.  Location TBD. (KW Nov. 18)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Volunteer Opportunity at St Andrew's on Oct. 14th from 5:45-9:00. Students needed to help monitor children during a parent presentation. Please contact Tania at taniacull@hotmail.com (TC Oct. 13)

GO ENG GIRL Free Event, Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 9 am to 4 pm. Ottawa U, SITE bldg (800 King Edward Ave).  Pizza lunch provided. Parking included on compus.  Parents invited to join at information Q/A session from 3pm to 4pm

Go ENG Girl provides an exciting opportunity for girls in grades 7-10 to explore, design, and create through hands-on activities.  They will learn about the wonderful world of engineering from women professionals, professors, and university students.
