WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Red Maple Reading Club GR.7/8 Coming soon to MT: First meeting Friday Sept. 25th Library Learning Commons (bring your lunch). (MP Sept. 25)

7-8 Girls Volleyball: All 7-8 girls interested in trying out for this year's volleyball team are asked to sign up outside room 332 before Friday of this week. Tryouts will be held Tuesday September 30 and Wednesday October 1, from 3-4pm in the Caf. gym. (JB Oct. 1)

7/8 Girls Flag Rugby: Any 7 and 8 girls interested in tryout for flag rugby please sign up in front of the physed office beside the cafeteria gym. Tryouts will be next week Tuesday and Thursday after school from 3 to 4 pm. (CN Sept. 24).

7/8 Cross- Country Running: Grade 7/8 cross-country try-outs have started.  We are practicing Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after school.  Make sure you've signed up on the list outside Mme Kinloch's classroom.  The meet is October 1st. (JK Oct. 1)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Just a reminder that the Meet the Teacher/Program Night for students in grades 9-12 will be occurring on Thursday September 24th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. More information to follow. (MR Sept. 24)

Hey Titans! Are you a charismatic grade 9-12 student who would like to help your grade 7 peers with hard topics like stress management, school involvement and conflict resolution through restorative practices? If so, you should join the Peer Helpers! Time commitment: 1 day/week (either a meeting or an activity day)

Come to our meeting to find out more: Thursday, September 24th @ lunch in room 318 (sign up on 318 door) (AP Sept. 25)

Sr. Boys Volleyball: Any boys interested in playing Sr. Boys Volleyball this fall are asked to meet on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 11:30 am sharp in the Dance Studio.  All athletes interested MUST be in attendance. (JL Sept. 22)

Meeting for Peter Pan: All cast and any crew interested in helping with Peter Pan are invited to attend a meeting at lunch (Thursday September 24th) on the stage. Rehearsals for Peter Pan will begin Thursday after school. Please check the stage door for details. (MR Sept. 24)

Student Tutors: Want to share what you've learned? If you are interested in tutoring another MT student, please pick up an application form in Student Services.  You can earn $10 an hour or earn community service hours. (MP Sept. 30)

Cappies Team 2015-2016: Thank you to all interested students. I wish I could include all of
you, but we can only carry nine students. The team is posted on the door of Rm 138. First meeting is at lunch on Thursday, September 24. (JS Sept. 24)

High School Girls Hockey: All high school girls looking to play hockey this year, try-outs will take place Sept. 23rd - Sportsplex #2​ at 3:30-4:30 and Sept. 24th – Sportsplex #2​ at 3:30-4:30.  Full equipment is required.  Please see Mr. Gervasi in room 309 for more information. (MG Sept. 24)

HS Cross Country Running: All High Cross Country Runners are reminded to pick up their permission forms and to make payments BEFORE next Thursday's meet. There will be an important meeting for ALL runners on FRIDAY (Sept.25) AT LUNCH in room 304.  Please see Mrs. Galbraith if you are unable to make it.  Important information regarding next week's meet will be given. STUDENT SERVICES

The STUDENT SERVICES WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool, including information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses, Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.

Driver Education registration forms are now available in Student Services.

Sign up quickly as class sizes are limited.  Classes start at MTHS on Wednesday,

October 21st from 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm.  Students must be at least 16 years of age and

have a G1 license prior to October 19, 2015. Fee is $673.48 You may register online at www.fallconnections.com or by mailing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing Education Department (570 West Hunt Club Road) or by calling 613-228-3338 to register with VISA or MasterCard. Carleton University is coming to visit our school on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm, location TBD. (KW Oct. 14)

Lakehead University will be visiting our school on November 18, 2015 at 2:45 pm.  Location TBD. (KW Nov. 18)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Volunteer Opportunity at St Andrew's on Oct 14th from 5:45-9. Students needed to help monitor children during a parent presentation. Please contact Tania at taniacull@hotmail.com (TC Oct. 14)

LF Volunteers at the St. Patrick's Parish Hall on Steeple Hill Crescent for their Fall Harvest Supper on Sunday, September 27th, between the hours of  4pm and 8pm  You need to provide your own transportation to and from the event.  Come at least 30 minutes ahead of the shift you choose.  You do not need to work the full 4 hours.  You will be expected to clear and reset tables, help package the take out meals, pour juice etc.  You will not be ​responsible for serving any hot food or beverages.  For further information, please see Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services.  We need to confirm names prior to September 24th.  Thank you.
