Calling all Titans, Coast to coast's INSIDE RIDE is coming up on Thursday, May 7th. Register your team of six at motherteresa.theinsideride.com. All you need is a team captain and a team name. Don't forget to pick up your pledge and waiver forms in the atrium during both high school and 7/8 lunch. As soon as you have your team registered you can start fundraising, remember, each team needs to fundraise at least $300 to participate. We will be accepting the money and forms starting May 1st (Friday) in the atrium during homeroom as well at lunch. A huge thank you goes out to all teams that have already registered. Don't forget to design your costume - there are prizes! (LD May 7)

SchoolCashOnline: Our adoption rate has been climbing since we launched on October 31, 2014. Thank you to all of the families who have already registered!!  Remember, online payments are quick and easy.  There's no waiting for your cheque to be processed...BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! If you need a refund, they can be done right away without a trip to the bank!!  So, if you haven't registered, check it out at www.mths.ca, click on the schoolcash online link on the left hand side and register today! Don't forget to attach your child to your account so that every time an activity comes up, you will receive an email notification!! Then all you have to do is go to the account and pay!  Seriously, it's that easy!!! (KZ June 26)

LEGO donations: We are looking for donations of LEGO bricks and/or sets for our new grade 7/8 club.

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Grade 7/8 students interested in trying out for the paddle tennis team are asked to sign up outside of room 339 by Wednesday this week.   Athletes who have already participated on volleyball, basketball or touch football teams will not be allowed to participate.  The paddle tennis tournament will be on May 21st. (HL May 21)

All 7-8 boys interested in trying out for the softball team are asked to sign up room 332 before Friday May 8. (JB May 8)

Singles and doubles Badminton tournaments brackets for 7/8 intramurals are posted between the phys ed offices in the caf gym. Please check the brackets for your game days. Tournament begins Monday May 4th

Girls Softball: All girls who signed up for the team, please see Mrs. Robinson in Room 301 before Thursday to pick up some forms. Reminder our first practice is Monday, May 4th at 3:00pm on the field across the street. (NR May 4)

The STUDENT SERVICES WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool, including information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses, Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.

Berrigan ES Council is hosting their Annual Community Garage Sale on Saturday, May 9th. We're looking for some student volunteers to come help us out. Help with set up, take down, parking, greeters, etc.  Please sign up with Jenn at:  besgaragesale@gmail.com (KW May 9)

2015 Summer School Program from the Ottawa Catholic School Board.

Registration forms are now available in Student Services.

Register May 1st to June 25th through your Student Services Department. 

All registration forms must be signed by you, a parent/guardian and your counsellor.

If unable to do so before June 25th, you will have to do so in person, on June 29th

from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at St. Nicholas Adult High School located at 893 Admiral Avenue.

The Numeracy/Literacy Summer School Program is for students currently in Grade 6, 7 or 8.

These courses are designed to enhance the English and Mathematics skills of students who are

at level 2 or lower.  Students receive encouragement, gain confidence and learn how to improve organizational skills required at the Grade 7, 8 or 9 levels. (KW June 25)

Summer School Registration Forms from the OCDSB are now available for pick up in Student Services.  Students require to meet with their Guidance counsellor to discuss course selection.

Once counsellor, student and parent sign the form, it is to be brought to: during the day:

440 Albert Street, Room E 122 B, Friday, May 1st to Friday, June 26th. or  Monday, May 11 from 6pm to 7:30pm at Sir Robert Borden HS and John McCrae HS or Tuesday, May 12 from 6pm to 7:30pm at Sir Wilfrid Laurier SS and 440 Albert Street, Room 122B (for the Adult Summer School Site) (KW June 26)

Attention Students Registered for Co-op Next Semester! If you are interested in a coop placement with Ottawa Police Services in September, please see  a coop teacher  in room 320 (Mrs. O’Sullivan or Mr. Nearing)  to see if you are eligible and to pick up an Ottawa Police Application Form. Interviews with Ottawa Police will be booked between Wednesday May 6 until Wed May 13. Don't miss out on the chance to work with Ottawa Police! (MO May 13)

Attention Grade 11 students.  Are you interested in visiting Halifax, Nova Scotia this summer?

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The West Ottawa Soccer Club is currently looking for coaches for the U4, U5 and U6 teams. No experience necessary as you would be working with very young kids who are just being introduced to soccer.  All sessions plans are provided by the Club for you to follow. You must be born in 1999 or earlier to volunteer.  If you are interested in being a coach or co-coach this summer, please contact Cathy Briggs at weewarriors@wosc.ca

Perch Project for CHEO is looking for 20 volunteers for a Superhero Party taking place on May 18 (holiday Monday) from approximately  830 am - 12:30 pm at the Richcraft Recreational Complex. An additional 2 hr will be required for planning the event. For more info please see Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services. (NC May 6)

Urgent!  Need volunteer hours.  Come out this weekend on May 2nd, from 9 am-12pm at the South Nepean Park for the biggest tree planting event in Ottawa.  Scouts Canada, Tree Ottawa and FIFA Women's World Cup will be planting.  You need to bring a shovel/trowel and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.  We provide the trees, water, snacks and coffee.  For more details, visit: treeottawa.org   Questions?  email: treeottawa@ecologyottawa.ca   Little leaflets are available in Student Services. We are currently looking for new volunteers for our exciting Ottawa Music Expo event taking place during the Music & Beyond festival on July 5, 2015. The volunteer team will assist with workshops, handing out brochures and balloons along the canal to encourage families to attend the Ottawa Music Expo. There will be many volunteer opportunities available including set up and tear down of the event so feel free to contact our volunteer coordinator who will work with you to find a position that you are interested in.Volunteer positions include (but are not limited to)(KW July 5)

Pre-Festival – Pre-festival volunteers help with office-related tasks such as advanced ticket sales and concert preparation.

Usher - Ushers greet patrons, take tickets, and direct people to their seats

Box Office - Box Office volunteers sell tickets at the door, as well as any other merchandise for that particular event.

Stage Crew – The Stage Crew helps move equipment and stage pieces and assists the stage manager as needed for the performance
