WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Students with overdue books and fines are asked to go to the Learning Commons after morning announcements. (MP March 13)

SchoolCashOnline: Our adoption rate has been climbing since we launched on October 31, 2014. Thank you to all of the families who have already registered!!  Remember, online payments are quick and easy.  There's no waiting for your cheque to be processed...BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! If you need a refund, they can be done right away without a trip to the bank!!  So, if you haven't registered, check it out at www.mths.ca, click on the schoolcash online link on the left hand side and register today! Don't forget to attach your child to your account so that every time an activity comes up, you will receive an email notification!! Then all you have to do is go to the account and pay!  Seriously, it's that easy!!! (KZ June 26)

LEGO donations: We are looking for donations of LEGO bricks and/or sets for our new grade 7/8 club.

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

7&8 Swim Team Try-outs - Those interested in joining the 7&8 swim team are asked to sign up on a list outside Mlle Pendergest's room (234).  Try-outs will be on March 31st and April 2nd from 3:30-4:30pm at Walter Baker Sportsplex. Attendance is mandatory at a minimum of one try-out to be considered for the team. (CP & BL March 27)

Red Maple Field Trip: Thursday, March 12. Students attending the Red Maple trip are to go to their homerooms and report to the Learning Commons at 9 o'clock. Please bring your lunch, coat and anything else you might need for the trip.

Friday: Red Maple club will meet at lunch in the seminar room. This week Mrs. P will discuss The Last Train with us. 

Students in grade 7 & 8 are reminded that they are not to be returning to classrooms during the  lunch time unless they have a note from the teacher or a learning commons pass. Students who are participating in lunch time actitivites (e.g. MAth Munchers, Art club etc) are to go directly to the room after period 4. Upon completion head down to the cafeteria/outside area for the remaining part of the lunch period.

7-8 Boys Hockey Schedule:

Tier 2: Monday March 23: Walter Baker, 3:00-5:00pm (exhibition game vs Turnbull)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Animanga club: The seminar room is booked on Tuesday, March 24th, so the Animanga club will meet instead on Monday, March 23rd at lunch in the Learning Commons. (NBD March 23)

All first semester high school dancers that are interested in performing at this year's Dance Showcase, are kindly asked to see Mrs. Donaghy in the Dance Studio: Friday March 13th at 11:30am sharp! Please bring your lunches! (CD March 13)

All H.S. boys' and girls' hockey team members can pick up an order form from Mr. Gervasi in room 309 (extras copies on the door).  Deadline to hand in forms and payment is Thursday March 12th. (MG March 12)

Attention Vocalists: Auditions are being held for the National Cappies Chorus who will be performing at the Cappies gala this year.  Check out the poster on the Drama room door for Info on audition dates and locations. (RL March 13)

Costa Rica 2016 - Attention all adventurers who are signing up for the Costa Rica Trip next February!  The student information meeting for next year's Costa Rica trip is this Monday at lunch in room 117.  The parent information will follow in Monday, March 9th at 6:00 pm at St, Francis Xavier High School.  If you're interested in zip lining, stand up paddle boarding, snorkelling, volcanic hot springs, hiking, and staying in a tree house, this trip is for you!  Only 12 spots available - secure your spot asap!  If you love the beach and adventures on the water, this trip is for you! Nominations are now open and accepted online until 5pm on April 17, 2105 for the 2015 Youth Ottawa Spirit of the Capital Youth Awards taking place this June 4, 2015.  Winners receive a bursary ($1,000 for winners and $250 for runner-ups to be used for advancement of academics or social enterprise in line with the values of Youth Ottawa). VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The Irish Society/NCR organizes a St. Patrick’s parade each year (this year on March 14th (Saturday)) and we need volunteers (120 in fact) to help with traffic control. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Student Volunteers will receive six (6) community service hours for volunteering for the day. April is fast approaching and the Canadian Cancer Society is looking for students to help with daffodil pin sales over the weekends of Apr 10th-12th and April 17th-19th.  Locations are available across the city and students can chose a time and location of their choice at www.ottawa.myccsschedule.ca .   All students who volunteer will have their name entered into a draw to win an iPad. Summer Jobs and Volunteer Opportunities for Students: Application Deadline for Positions: April 17, 2015

Summer Volunteer Opportunities: Assist with programming, cottage clean-up, laundry, animal care, gardening, weeding, painting, crafts, outdoor games etc. Mondays to Saturdays available. Summer volunteers are encouraged to participate one day per week, for 6 to 8 weeks. Interview and police check required. Must be a minimum of 14 years to apply as a volunteer. (KW April 17)

Attention Graduates: There will be a meeting about applying for scholarships at the beginning of lunch on Tuesday, March 24 in the Learning Commons Seminar Room. Applications will be available for mostly School

Board sponsored scholarships that are guaranteed to be received by members of our graduating class. If you are interested in applying then you must attend this meeting. (RB March 24)

DELF B2 Certification:  Any students wising to challenge the DELF B2 exam are asked to obtain a permission form from room 314.  The listening, reading, and writing components of the exam will be held at Mother Teresa H.S. on May 11.  The speaking component will take place on May 12 at the Derry Byrne Teacher Resource Centre (165 Knoxdale Rd).  Students are responsible for their transportation to and from Derry Byrne.  There is a $30 cost, which covers administrative fees charged by the DELF Administrative Center.  Cheques are to be made payable to the Ottawa Catholic School Board.  Each school may send 7 students to challenge the DELF.  The spaces for Mother Teresa H.S. will be assigned on a first come first served basis.  Students will be placed on the list when they bring their completed permission form and check to room 314. Prom will be held at the Sala San Marco on Preston Street on Friday May 29th from 5:30-11:00 pm. Grade 12 students are asked to sign into my.mths.ca and register their intent to attend, indicate food allergies, table preference, guest information (non-MT student) as well as vote for Prom King and Queen. At this time, each grade 12 student is allowed to purchase 1 ticket only. This can be done anytime online. During the week of April 6-10, tickets may be purchased in person at lunch, at which time guest tickets may also be purchased from your child's respective Vice-Principal and will require payment by cheque or cash ($80).
