SchoolCashOnline: Now that many families have signed up for our fast, friendly and convenient online banking option, we encourage parents to regularly check to see if there are any new additions to your child’s account. LEGO donations: We are looking for donations of LEGO bricks and/or sets for our new grade 7/8 club.

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Learning Commons Lunch Passes: The Learning Commons will be closed during grade 7/8 lunch on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday due to meetings and workshops. Passes will be available as usual on Thursday and Friday. (NBD Feb 24)

All Red Maple members are ask to return their completed field trip permission forms and payment to the Learning Commons as soon as possible. Online payment is available at https://ocsb.schoolcashonline.com. (NBD Feb 24)

Read-A-Thon: Our Read-A-Thon was a great success. A big thank you to all of the students, teachers, parents and members of our community for supporting our fundraiser. All money raised will be spent on resources for our Learning Commons. Thank you! (NBD Feb 24)

7/8 Futsal Intramurals: Begin Wednesday February 25th  at 1:40 in the Cafe gym. Must wear proper running shoes. Team Rosters,Divisions, and Dates are posted on the PE Wall outside of the PE offices in the Caf Gym. (TF Feb. 25)

7-8 Boys Hockey: There will be a practice for Tier 1 team on February 23 @Walter Baker, from 3:00-4:30pm.

The Read-A-Thon will be taking place today for all students who returned their pledge forms and money. You are responsible for any missed work, so please do not forget to speak with your teachers. Please report to your homerooms for attendance and then come directly to the Learning Commons. Drinks and snacks are permitted, but please make sure they are nut-free. See you soon!

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

ALL students interested in doing the Toronto Biology competition MUST attend a meeting Wed at the beginning of lunch in room 202 to register. (SS Feb. 25)

Vermont Ski Trip:  There will be a very important meeting on Tuesday, Feb 24th for all students attending the Vermont Ski Trip.  It will take place at the beginning of senior lunch in room 137.  The trip happens on Friday the 27th so be sure to attend the meeting for last minute important info. (RL Feb 24)

H.S. Field Lacrosse - any players interested in playing this spring are asked to attend a meeting on Monday at 11:30 am sharp in the Dance Studio.  Information about tryouts, team wear, and the upcoming season will be discussed. (JL Feb. 23)

Math Enrichment:  Students in grade 9 to 11 planning to write the Waterloo Math Contest are reminded to bring $5 to their enrichment teacher BEFORE exams.  You must bring in your money to be registered to write the contest on February 24.  We will meet next on Wednesday, February 4th. (NR Feb. 24)

Nominations are now open and accepted online until 5pm on April 17, 2105 for the 2015 Youth Ottawa Spirit of the Capital Youth Awards taking place this June 4, 2015.  Winners receive a bursary ($1,000 for winners and $250 for runner-ups to be used for advancement of academics or social enterprise in line with the values of Youth Ottawa). VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Volunteers needed!  We are coordinating our annual West End Basketball League (WEBL) Midget Girls Year-end Tournament and need basketball scorekeepers and timekeepers. The event takes place at LDHS starting from Friday (April 24th) after school until Sunday (April 26th) evening.  We are looking for high school students and priority will be given to those who can commit to the whole tournament.  This is a great way to pick up a ton of volunteer hours!  For more information please contact: James Turner at vprec@nepeanbluedevils.ca (KW Apr. 24)

Prom will be held at the Sala San Marco on Preston Street on Friday May 29th from 5:30-11:00 pm. Grade 12 students are asked to sign into my.mths.ca and register their intent to attend, indicate food allergies, table preference, guest information (non-MT student) as well as vote for Prom King and Queen. At this time, each grade 12 student is allowed to purchase 1 ticket only. This can be done anytime online. During the week of April 6-10, tickets may be purchased in person at lunch, at which time guest tickets may also be purchased from your child's respective Vice-Principal and will require payment by cheque or cash ($80).
