MOTHER TERESA SCHOOL COUNCIL is FOR ALL PARENTS

The first School Council meeting of the 2014/2015 school year will be held on Monday, September 22nd at

7 p.m. in the school Learning Commons located on the 2nd floor. Although there is a School Council Executive that is elected each year, parents do not have to hold an official position on School Council to attend the meetings. All parents are encouraged to attend the school council meetings to benefit from the many discussions held and to actively participate in these discussions. IN THE LEARNING COMMONS

Looking for help accessing your student accounts?  Drop by the Learning Commons for assistance.  We can help you get to where you need to be as well as help you get your password reset so you can access that information yourself.

Grade 7/8 Students are invited to stop by before school in the morning to pick up a Learning Commons Pass.  On Monday /Wednesday / Friday, grade 8 students are welcome to come after eating in the cafeteria on your lunch time.  On Tuesday / Thursday / Friday, grade 7 students are welcome.  Come see what the Learning Commons has to offer!  (No passes required before or after school)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Any grade 7/8 interested in trying out for boys or girls flag rugby team is asked to sign up outside the phys ed office. The first try out will be Thursday September 18th from 3-4.  Dress to go outside.  Questions?  See Mr. Nicoletti or Miss DePippo. (JD, CN Sept. 19)

Any Grade 7 or 8 students wishing to join the Mother Teresa Senior or Junior Concert bands, there will be a meeting in room 120 this Friday, September 19 at the beginning of lunch. (IC Sept. 19)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Cappies: Mandatory meeting for ALL Cappies applicants at lunch in Rm 138 on Friday, September 19.  Meeting will be 10 minutes long and will start promptly at 11:40 am. (JS Sept. 19)

All High School Cross Country runners are asked to pick up their permission forms for this year's meets.  Our first meet of the season is next Wednesday, Sept. 24 and your money and forms need to be turned in by this Friday. If you do not pay, you cannot participate. (MG Sept. 19)

All runners part of the High School Cross Country team have a mandatory meeting on Thursday at lunch in Room 304 regarding next Wednesday's meet.  If you cannot be there you need to see Mrs. Galbraith in person BEFORE Friday. (MG Sept. 19)

Any high school students interested in being a ref. or keeping score during grade 7-8 volleyball home games are asked to please come and see Mme. Beraldin in room 332 during H-S lunch. (JB Sept. 19)

The New York City trip is quickly filling up - ONLY two more weeks remain to get your 1st payment and permission form to Mr. Rowley in Room 136 to confirm your spot (Deadline: Friday, September 26th 2014). Do not miss out on this memorable High School moment! (MR Sept. 26)

Belize Trip 2015Attention all MT Adventurers!  There is a parent meeting Wednesday, September 24th at 7:30 in the library for all students interested in the Belize trip this coming April 11-18th.  If you would enjoy exploring rainforests, unique cave and river system, snorkelling along a spectacular coral reef, kayaking, and stand up paddle boarding, this trip is for you!  Please see Mrs. Ragaisis if you have any questions. Love is Louder (Formally known as Anti-Bullying) There will be a first meeting at lunch for those interested in participating on Monday September 22nd in room 315.  Bring your lunch and some ideas for our activity week in November. (PC Sept. 22)

CIBC run for the cure: On October 5th, the City is hosting the CIBC run for the cure.  If you are interested in completing some volunteer hours or making an MT running team, come in and talk with Mr. Côté in room 315 Wednesday September 17th at lunch. (PC Oct. 17)

There will be a Senior boys volleyball tryout/practice 7:15 am Friday, September 19th in wood floor gym. (MC Sept. 19)

All grade 11 and 12 students interested in preparing for the University of Toronto biology competition in the spring, please come see Ms. Soprovich in room 202 at lunch on Friday. Bring your lunch (video presentation about medicine: pain, pus & poison) (SS Sept. 19)

The STUDENT SERVICES WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool, including information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses, Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.

Driver Education Forms are available in Student Services.  Registration period is until October 15th.

Sign up quickly as class sizes are limited. (KW Oct. 15)

Study and Go Abroad Fair - Thursday, October 2nd at the Ottawa Convention Centre. Expo from 2pm to 6pm and seminars start at 1pm.  Visit www.studyandgoabroad.com

Ottawa-Carleton District School Board - Night School - Fall 2014. Come pick up your registration form from Student Services, complete it, have a parent/guardian sign it, have your counsellor sign it. Then register: Registration is from now until Friday, September 12th during the day at Continuing Education, 440 Albert Streeet, from 9 am to 3:30 pm.  Evening registration is at the school offering your course choice (either Adult HS or Merivale HS) on Tuesday, September 9th from 6pm to 7:30pm and Wednesday, September 10th from 6pm to 7:30pm. 

September 30, 2014 - Part - Time, Job Fair - 5 pm to 7 pm - Walter Baker Sports Center, upper concourse at 100 Malvern Drive. Come and meet the hiring teams with your resume and qualifications. Positions include customer service representatives, sport and art instructors, lifeguards and swim instructors, preschool play leaders, youth workers, fitness instructors, personal trainers and weight room attendants.  Ottawa.ca/mrcb (KW Sept. 30)
