clip_image007Student Council Elections: Any grade 8-11 students interested in being apart of the 2014-2015 MT Student Council are invited to an information meeting.

High school students will meet on April 30th at lunch in room 317.

Grade 8 students will meet on May 1st at lunch in student services. (EB May 1)

MINI-ENRICHMENT: Students attending mini-enrichment courses (May 5th - May 9th) are reminded to access the website for information on the Orientation Sessions which occur on either Saturday May 3rd or Sunday May 4th. (DM –May 2)

clip_image011 BLOOD DONOR CLINIC: There will be a blood donor clinic at Mother Teresa High School (wood floor gym) on Friday, May 9th. You must be a minimum of 17 years old to donate blood.  If you didn't sign up in your homeroom, please see Mrs. McLaughlin in room 130 to make an appointment. (DM May 9)

clip_image015 All students going on the New York City 2014 trip next week are asked to attend a final MANDATORY important information meeting at lunch on Friday, May 2nd 2014 in Room 136 at the start of lunch. (MR May 2)

clip_image019TO ALL CHEERLEADERS ON THE MT CHEER SQUAD. Here is the schedule of practices from now until the end of the school year. April 28, May 5, May 12, May 18, May 25, June 2, June 9, June 16. It has been difficult to get gym time and balance my allotted time. Please note that we need the entire team to be there in order to get the most of practice. ***I also need fees and uniforms from cheerleaders that have not paid or have left the team.**** (JR –May 2)

clip_image023VOLUNTEERS – OTTAWA CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL: The Ottawa Children’s Festival is looking for volunteers.  Register online at ottawachildrensfestival.ca. The festival takes place May 9-May 14, 2014, Lebreton Flats Park.  Lots of volunteer positions such as box office and information agent, set up, greeter, site host, site maintenance, traffic control, ushers, 4Cats art studio, face painting, petting zoo, circus workshops and floaters.  Information flyer available in Student Services. WALK SO KIDS CAN TALK: Mar your calendar for Sunday, May 4, 2014 for the annual Walk so Kids Can Talk; Canada's largest walk for child and youth mentalhealth, which kicks off Mental Health Week in Canada each year. EXPLORE is a five-week language-immersion course (spring or summer). Participants live in a student residence on campus or with a homestay family whose members speak French.  Participants in Explore receive a $2,200 bursary that covers tuition fees for the course, meals, accommodations, workshops, but the bursary does not cover other necessary costs such as registration fee ($225 non-refundable and payable only if you receive a bursary), travel costs, optional activities, spending money.  See brochures in Student  Services. clip_image025LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!  Berrigan ES is having a community garage sale on Friday, May 9th from 3:30pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, May 10 th from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm.  They need help with set up and take down, parking, as greeters, etc.. clip_image027ABORIGINAL YOUTH CREATIVE WRITING AWARD.  The Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration is looking for submissions for the James Bartleman Aboriginal Youth Creative Writing Award.  Creative writing pieces may include short stories, poems, essays, plays, songs or even comic strips.  Recipients will receive a cash award of $2,500 each. Submission forms and more information are available at www.ontario.ca/bartleman, or by phone at:

Graduation Ceremony tickets: The Graduation Ceremony will take place at Mother Teresa HS on Thursday June 26 from 1:00 - 3:00pm. Please note that each graduate will be given 2 tickets for guests. Students can request extra tickets by signing up in Student Services between Thursday May 1st and Friday May 23. No extra tickets can be requested after May 23. Students will be informed exactly how many extra tickets they will receive shortly there after. (JH May 23)
