WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

PHOTO RE-TAKE DAY TODAY: All students who have not yet had a photo taken, should have one taken today, whether you are buying a package or not. This photo will be used for your student ID card, and yearbook photo. Those students who purchased packages and were not happy with your photo, may have re-takes done today. You MUST bring your original photo package with you, to hand to the photographer for a re-take. Students will be called to the Multipurpose room in the following order: Gr 7&8 students - by homerooms, and Gr 9-12 students - by alpha. (SD -Oct 15)

GRADE 7 TO 12 CHOIR: There will be a meeting on Monday, October 18^th at 11:30 in Rm 119 for any students interested in singing at our Remembrance Day ceremony. (AC –Oct 18)

SPIRIT WEEK: Hey MT! It's time to show your spirit! Our first spirit week of the year is here! Monday is PJ Day (fuzzy slippers welcomed!), Tuesday is Retro Day (think 90's, 80's, 70's...or even farther back!), Wednesday is Titan Pride Day and our first SPIRIT RALLY, Thursday is Twin Day (can we tell you apart?) and Friday is GQ Day (Dress to Impress!). Catch the spirit, and our Spirit Catchers may reward you with prizes! (NR –Oct 22)

YOGA: A $5.00 drop in Yoga class will be held every Monday in October from 3:05-4:05 starting the Oct 4th. All levels welcomed! All MT students, staff and teachers welcomed! (SD –Oct 22)

ATTENTION MILITARY PARENTS & RELATIVES OF STUDENTS AT MOTHER TERESA: Any student who has a parent(s) or relative serving in the Canadian Armed Forces (army, air force or navy), police officer, or RCMP is asked to invite their parent(s)/relative to our Remembrance Day Service on Thursday November 11th. There will be two services, one at 9:00 am for students in grades 7, 8 and 9 and a second service at approximately 10:20 am for students in grade 10, 11 and 12. All guests are invited to a reception in the school library following the second service. You are asked to arrive in uniform and to sit in the reserved seats at the front of the auditorium. REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE -CADETS AT MOTHER TERESA: We are looking for students at MT who are involved in army, air or sea cadets to be a part of our service. You'll be asked to wear your uniform and to assist with carrying a flag, marching, etc. Please see Mme Milliard in room 315. Your presence is essential and most appreciated with this very important day. (JK –Nov 5)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

A.C.T.S: Any grade 7 & 8 students wanting to become involved in youth ministry are asked to meet in the chapel on Friday October 15 at the beginning of lunch in the chapel. Bring your lunch with you. We will meet for 20 minutes. (MD –Oct 15)

RED MAPLE CLUB: Find out what the Red Maple Club is all about on Friday, October 15 during the 7/8 lunch. Bring your lunch to the library seminar room after period 4. Join us for treats, books, conversation, and fun. (CHV –Oct 15)

GRADE 7/8 GAME CLUB: Find out about the game club at the first meeting on Monday, October 18th during the 7/8 lunch. Bring your lunch to the library seminar room after period 4. (CHV –Oct 18)

GRADE 9 TO 12 GUITAR PLAYERS: There will be a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 11:30 in Rm 119 for students interested in playing guitar at our upcoming guitar showcase. (AC –Oct 20)

7/8 GIRLS/BOYS VOLLEYBALL: GAME DATE CHANGE: HOME GAME WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 20th---NOT Thursday October 21st. BOYS Practice Thursday October 21st. (TF –Oct 20)

IMMUNIZATION CLINICS: Reminder to all grade 7 students and grade 8 girls: Our first immunization clinics will be held on Thursday October 21 and Friday October 22. Grade 7's who have returned their permission forms will receive their Meningococcal C vaccine and Grade 8 girls who have returned their permission forms will receive the first dose of the HPV vaccine. Students are reminded to eat a good breakfast and to wear clothing that will easily allow them to receive their vaccine. (CB –Oct 21)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

BLOOD DONOR CLINIC AT SCOTIABANK PLACE ON OCTOBER 18^TH: Please see Mrs McLaughlin in room 130 if you are interested in giving blood at this clinic sponsored by the Ottawa Senators. You must be a minimum of 17 years old and a minimum of 50kg/110lbs. Participants will be shuttled to and from Scotiabank Place. (DM –Oct 15)

CAPPIES: Thursday's meeting has been re-scheduled to Tuesday, October 19 in Rm 138 at lunch. (JS –Oct 19)

YOUTH MINISTRY: The Youth Ministry team will meet at the beginning of lunch on Tuesday October 19 in the chapel. Please bring your lunch with you. (MD -Oct 19)

SAY IT OUT LOUD: Students must submit their 500 word essays for the month of October by Monday, November 1. For additional information, please see Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 (JS –Oct 29)

HOUSE OF COMMONS PAGE PROGRAM: Are you interested in being a Page in the House of Commons? Information is available on the Parliament of Canada Web Site and applications must be submitted online at www.parl.gc.ca/hocpage. High School students who maintain an average of 80% and who are fluent in English and French are invited to apply. To be eligible, students must also be accepted at a university in the National Capital Region. Those chosen as Pages will be contracted to work for a period of one year, beginning late August 2011. Please note that the deadline for applications this year is Friday, January 7, 2011. ALGONQUIN COLLEGE – TRANSITION PROGRAM FALL 2010: Do you have issues with anxiety, depression/mood disorder, social phobia, post-traumatic stress, or schizophrenia? Are you in Grade 11 or 12? If so, then plan to attend the one day Transition Planning Workshop on Wednesday, November 24th, 2010. The Centre for Students with Disabilities at Algonquin College is hosting a free one day transition planning workshop to assist students with mental disabilities prepare for post secondary.
