Day 2 - H.S. & Day 2 - Gr. 7 & 8

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

VACCINATION CLINIC: This is a reminder to all grade 7 students, and to grade 8 girls, that our final vaccination clinic will take place during the morning of Friday May 1. This will be the second/final immunization for all grade 7's for Hepatitis B and the third/final immunization for grade 8 girls for HPV. Students are reminded to have a good breakfast on Friday to be ready for the clinic. (Apr 30)

7/8 ART MOSAIC WORKSHOP: The following students, U.D. and M.C., are reminded of this workshop being held tomorrow Tuesday, April 28th. Please meet Ms. Stuart in the atrium at 9:30 to catch the bus. The bus will arrive back to the school at approximately 4:45 p.m., and lunch will be served at the workshop. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Stuart in room 240. (Apr 27)

ATTENTION GRADE 8 STUDENTS: Would you like to help plan events for students and provide feedback from your peers to the school. Then you should be part of the Mother Teresa Student Executive Council. For more information on being a Grade Representative, and to pick-up an application package, please come to Room 320 on Tuesday April 28 at the beginning of 7/8 lunch. If you are not able to attend this meeting, please see Mrs. Robinson in Room 301 on either Monday or Tuesday morning. (Apr 28)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

HIGH SCHOOL ART MOSAIC WORKSHOP: The following students, G.S., D.C., S.K., E.C., S.M., and R.A., are reminded of this workshop being held tomorrow Tuesday, April 28th. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN FOOLISHNESS? Shakespeare? Comedy? Come get your tickets to the "A Company of Fools" production, Interactive Shakespeare! $2 gets you in to see the show during period 4 on May 8. Please see your semester one or two English teacher for tickets. Only 300 spots are available. (May 1)

ATTENTION STUDENTS IN GRADES 9 TO 11: Do you have what it takes to be a leader in the school? Do you have ideas that no one hears? As a member of the Mother Teresa Student Executive Council your voice is heard! The information meeting for all applicants for next year's council will be held on Monday April 27 and Tuesday April 28 in Room 301 at the beginning of senior lunch. You only need to attend ONE meeting. Come next week and find out what it means to be a valued member of Student Council. (Apr 28)

CAPPIES are reminded to vote on Saturday, May 9 at the Confederation Education Centre, next to Sportsplex on Woodroffe. Please check the voting schedule for your specific time. (May 8)

MARINE BIOLOGY TRIP: All students registered in grade 12 biology next year are invited to sign up to attend an information meeting on Wednesday April 29th at 11:45 in room 202 regarding next year's 5-day biology trip to St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, New Brunswick in September 2009. A signup sheet is posted outside room 202. Don't be disappointed...sign up today! (Apr 29)

BLOOD DONOR CLINIC: Students interested in donating blood at the Mother Teresa Blood Donor Clinic (May 1st) can do so in their Homeroom (speak to your HR teacher). Students who do not have a class period 1 can see Mrs. McLaughlin in room 130 to sign up for the clinic. Minimum age is 17 years. (Apr 30)

STUDENT SERVICES

PUBLIC BOARD SUMMER SCHOOL: Information and application forms are now available, in the Student Services office, for the Public Board’s summer school program. Courses will be offered at Sir Robert Borden H.S. on Greenbank as well as three other sites. They are offering many reach-ahead and make up courses as well as 1 credit co-op and a limited number of on-line courses. If interested, pick up information as soon as possible. (Apr. 29)

VOLUNTEERS! VOLUNTEERS! Up to 20 volunteers required. The Rotary Club of South Nepean is looking for volunteers for the Strandherd Road Clean Up Project. Saturday, May 9th from 1pm to 4pm. Please contact Doug Pritchard at 613 558-6683. (May 7)

VOLUNTEER HOURS: Farley Mowat Public School is hosting a Family Mayfair on Saturday, May 30 from 10-2pm. Volunteers are needed to work from 8 am to 4 pm at the concession stands, bake sale, ticket sales, BBQ and games for all ages. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Applications for the Baxter Memorial Scholarship are now available. This is a $1500 scholarship to recognize a graduate who has tried his/her best, kept the faith and has been kind to others. Applications are available at Student Services. (Apr 27)

THE BLACK CANADIAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND ($5000 BURSARY): Criteria: Black Canadian graduating from an Ottawa high school with a minimum of 75% in top 6 grade 12 courses. Must demonstrate financial need and community involvement. Visit www.bcsf.ca for the application. (May 8)
