7/8 WAUPOUS FIELD TRIP: Any students attending this field trip please return your permission forms to Ms. Stewart in Room 130.
PEER HELPERS: There will be a Peer Helper meeting on Friday at lunch in Room 134.
7/8 REACH FOR THE TOP: Will be in Room 233 at 12:50 on Friday, February 27. The Flying Tacos will take on the Awesome Possums. Please be on time!
YEARBOOK: There will be a brief yearbook meeting at 11:45 am TODAY in Room 103. Any students who have photos of the following events are asked to attend in order to download their photos: St. Anne Ski Trip, Cake Auction, Valentine's Day, Dominican Republic Trip, Casino Night Dance, or any other events you'd like to see included in the yearbook. Any student who borrowed a yearbook camera MUST RETURN THE CAMERA at this meeting. Please see Mrs. Hopkins if you are interested in helping out but can't make the meeting.
BUS S14: Please note that, beginning this TODAY Bus S14 will be starting its route 15 minutes earlier. Please head out to your stop at least 15 minutes earlier every day.
BACKSTAGE VOLUNTEERS: The names of students who will be working backstage for the school play "Caesar" is posted on the door of Room 112. Thank you to all of the students who tried out for the makeup and hairstyling crew.
GRADE 11 AND 12 STUDENTS: Canada’s Perimeter Institute is now accepting applications for free summer science camps for Grade 11 and 12 students with a keen interest in modern physics (ALL EXPENSES PAID). The application deadline for the “International Summer School for Young Physicists” is Thursday, March 19, 2009. Please see Ms. D'Angela in Room #211.
RESEARCH HELP: Are you having difficulty with choosing a topic for your research assignment, writing a thesis, choosing credible sources, searching, citing your sources of information, choosing a format for your presentations? One-on-one assistance with research and school assignments is available in the library from 3:00pm to 4:00pm any night of the week.
VOLUNTEER HOURS: If you are interested in being an usher for the production of Caesar on March 5, 6 or 7, please see Mrs. Harrington-Veryard in the library.
COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS: Please see Mr. Prigent if you are interested in being on security detail for the St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 14th. It involves road closure duty for the Ottawa Police Department. Letters of recommendation are possible for those wishing to apply to the Police Foundations Program at Algonquin. Anyone interested must be 16 years of age or older
ONTARIO LAUNCHES SUMMER JOBS PROGRAMS: Ontario has a range of summer job opportunities for students, through Ontario’s Summer Jobs Programs. The Summer Jobs Service offers students free self-marketing and job search services, and offers employers a $2-per-hour wage subsidy to encourage them to hire students. These programs are open to students aged 15 to 24 years (up to 29 years for a person with a disability) who are planning to return to school this fall.

CARLETON UNIVERSITY'S ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS CHAPTER is hosting a conference on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 for Grade 11 and 12 students who are interested in learning about human and social development. Participants can be from any academic background; the sciences, social sciences, the university stream or college stream. This conference will be a great opportunity for students to experience workshops on a range of development issues, converse with university staff and students and to develop a better understanding of how the sciences and social sciences can work together to create positive change in our world.
