GRADE 7, 8, 9 STUDENTS: Reminder that your Contract forms indicating your intent to return to Mother Teresa for the 2009-2010 school year are due to your homeroom teacher TODAY.

7/8 ATHLETIC COUNCIL: Meeting at lunch TODAY in front of the 7/8 Phys. Ed. offices at 1:00 pm to discuss scheduling and refereeing Indoor Soccer.

SCHOLARSHIPS: Two scholarships are available to Grade 12 students who play minor hockey.
1) Royal Bank and the 67's have a $5000 scholarship available to a local male and female hockey player. Visit www.ottawa67s.com and click on the RBC icon for info.
2) Ontario Hockey Federation awards Bursaries to students showing commitment to both hockey and the classroom. Visit www.ohf.on.ca/web_pages/prog_bursary.php for more information.

IMPORTANT GRADE 10, 11, & 12 STUDENTS: On April 2nd, the Grade 10 Literacy test will be administered. In order to graduate from high school, you need to successfully complete this test. If you are a Grade 11 or 12 student who has not yet written or has not yet successfully completed the test, please come to the Main Office and speak with Mrs. Dunfield as soon as possible. If you are a Grade 10 student, but are not in a Grade 10 class during Period 1, or if you are a new student from out of province or out of country, please also see Mrs. Dunfield as soon as possible.

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS... high school dance tickets are on sale every day at lunch this week. TODAY is the final day to purchase guest tickets. Tickets for this semi-formal are $10.00 each and included in the price are: the dance, chips to play the casino games, and some delicious snacks. Don't wait until the last minute to buy your tickets. Last year's semi-formal sold out quickly.

STRATFORD 2009: The deadline for your $50 deposit has been extended to February 17. Please see Mrs. Simpson in Room 138 for more details and a permission form. Please bring in your cheque to reserve your spot as soon as possible. If we do not have 24 students on the bus then the trip risks being cancelled. There are 15 spots left.

ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Any students interested in earning community service hours are invited to see Ms. Soprovich in Room 205 at lunch TODAY to sign up to work at the Shepherd's of Good Hope on Sunday Feb 22 from 8 - 10:30. All equipment is supplied except a baseball cap. See you at lunch.

ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Any students interested in refereeing or scorekeeping for the Junior Volleyball games, please see Mr. Liska or Ms. Soprovich (Rm 205) to sign up. Referees can be certified or non-certified. The time can be used towards community service hours.

7/8 GIRLS BASKETBALL: Practice/try-outs will be TODAY from 3:15-4:15.

7/8 BOYS HOCKEY PLAYERS - Practice is TODAY from 3:30 - 4:30 at Walter Baker. If you are unable to make it, you must speak with Mr. Quinn or Mr. MacCuaig. Reminder: All goalies who tried out are asked to come back for a 3rd tryout.

7/8 INTRAMURAL SOCCER SIGN -UP: Visit the lunch table to sign up for Intramural Indoor Soccer.

SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITY: The City of Ottawa is looking to hire three high school students who are interested in the arts to work as camp counsellors for our Arts Animation Program this summer. The Arts Animation team creates and delivers innovative multidisciplinary art workshops/residencies for City of Ottawa summer day camps, youth drop-in centres and programs for people with disabilities. CENTREPOINTE THEATRE: Students who received permission forms to attend the Black Violin presentation on February 23rd, are reminded to return the forms to Room 130 ASAP.

BILL MASON CENTRE: Students who received permission forms for the trip to the Bill Mason Centre on February 20th are reminded to return the forms to Room 130 ASAP.

ST. BRIGID'S SUMMER CAMP: Employment opportunities and Counselor in Training Program available. Employment is open to any student aged 17 or more (mature 16 year olds may be considered). Our Counselor in Training Program is a two-week program open to students aged 15 and 16. UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO MATH CONTESTS: Attention all students writing the math contests on February 18th. The Math Department will be holding practice sessions every Day 2 through February 17th to help students prepare for the contest. The practice sessions will take place during lunch in Room 322. All students are encouraged to attend at least ONE practice session. Please bring your lunch with you.

HIGH SCHOOL WRITING COMPETITION: Entries are being accepted by Carleton University's Department of English in the following categories: short story, poetry, play or script, or essay on literary topic. See Mrs. Simpson in Room 138 for details and entry forms. Due date is May 1.

UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA: An Information Evening and Fair will be held at the University of Ottawa on Wednesday, February 18th. English presentations take place in Alumni Auditorium at 6:30pm and 7:45pm. The Spring Open House will take place on Friday, March 20, 2009 from 8am to 3pm. Highlights include tours (campus, residences, sports complexes); presentations by liaison officers; information fair offering the opportunity to meet with faculty and service representatives. U of T SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM: The University of Toronto's Summer Youth Program brings together the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Medicine, to offer a summer program where high school students experience what it is like to be a student in Canada's premier Medical and Law Schools. Participants take part in "hands-on" academic programming in the same world-class facilities that the undergraduate and graduate students use. This program is held in July on the U of T's Toronto downtown campus, and courses range in length from one to four weeks.
