A reminder to all our Technovation participants
that your Design Thinking Workshop will be held at IBM on Sunday,
Feb 3rd and that your weekly Wednesday evening sessions begin on Feb. 6th and
continue until April 17th. (SH Feb.8)
Attention
skiiers and snowboarders: Reminder that
ski/snowboard equipment is not allowed on school buses. Please make other
arrangements to get it to school. Once at school it will be stored in the
shed by the bus loop on the side of the school. You can drop it off between
8:00 and 8:30 am. It will be locked all day. If you haven't checked the list
posted outside the office to find out which bus you are on, please do so before
Wednesday. (KB Feb. 6)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
7/8 Girls
Hockey: Attention all 7/8 girls who signed up for the
girls hockey team. There will be a brief but important meeting today at
the beginng of lunch outside of Mr. Quinn’s phys.ed. office to discuss tryout
dates and times. (TQ Feb. 5)
Yoga- Grade 7/8 yoga in the dance studio today at lunch. Beginners
welcome. See you there ! (KM Feb.5)

Girls Basketball Tryouts: This is important. On Thursday, February 7th in the TILE
FLOOR gym there will be a GRADE 8 girls tryout. On Friday, February 8th in the WOOD FLOOR gym there will be a GRADE
7 girls tryout. Please sign up outside room 332 and see Ms. Mandia or Mr.
MacDonald with any questions. (SM Feb 8)
During your lunch on Friday, instead of going
outside right away you are invited to stop by the atrium to see the grade 10
Engineering classes final project. Come see what they have made with 3D
printing, electronics and programming and see if you might be interested in
taking the course when you are in high school.

7/8 Yoga- All students are welcome
to come out to yoga on Tuesdays at lunchtime. Yoga takes place in the Dance
studio at 12:30. You are welcome to come a little earlier to eat your lunch
there before we start yoga. No experience or equipment needed. (KM)
7 & 8 Swim Team - Tryouts will take place at MINTO Recreation Complex March
5 & 7th from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Please
attend both tryouts. Competitive and non-competitive swimmers welcome and no
previous experience necessary. Students are responsible for their own
transportation to and from the pool. A sign-up list and permission forms are
posted outside of room 234. All swimmers are
reminded to bring their permission form to Mme Pendergest prior to the first
tryout. Please note that students who make the team must be able to commit
to team practices on Tuesdays & Thursdays between
April 9 - May 9, 2019. (CP March 7)

Costa Rica 2020: Would you like to travel to the biologically
diverse areas of COSTA RICA from March 12-19, 2020 for a chance to observe
howler monkeys, manatees and giant iguanas? Any high school student
interested in learning more about this exciting opportunity is invited to come
to room 209 to pickup an information letter and parent permission form.
We will have a meeting for interested students at the beginning of lunch on Tuesday, February 12th in room 209.

All students registered for an online course
semester 2 will be invited to an orientation
session on February 7th in the seminar room in TLC. Expect an appointment
slip on February 6th with the time
for your session. Please see your Guidance Counsellor if you have any questions. (TC Feb. 7)
Students looking
for a change to their schedule for semester 2 must pick up a form in Student
Services.
Forms must be signed by a parent/guardian before submitting the request
to a counsellor. Students must follow their current timetable until a change has been approved. Last day for a
schedule change is Wednesday, February
6th, 2019.
All Junior girls who are interested in trying
out for this year's volleyball team are invited to attend tryouts on Monday, February 4th and Tuesday, February
5th. Tryouts will be help from 3:00-4:15pm in the caf gym. Hope

from the public board have arrived! Come get your form in Student Services.
You, your
parent/guardian and your counsellor needs to sign the form. Once all three
signatures are on the form and you have your student status sheet, you are all
set to go and register at 440

Program - Winter 2019 - Register online at conted.ocsb.ca or
by mailing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing Education
Department (570 West Hunt Club Road). The form can be picked up from Student
Services. Registration is open from now until February 19th. You must be 16 years old and have a G1
License prior to February 25th. First class starts Wednesday, February 27th. (KW Feb. 19)
Summer Job Opportunity as a Camp Counsellor: Red Pine Camp is looking for Junior staff (Ages 16 - 17
by July 1) who possess: a fun personality, strong character, stability and
warmth to help with summer camping operations, deliver excellent customer
