7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Craft Club: The grade 7/8 craft club meets every Friday at lunch in
room 233. Bring your lunch and get ready to be creative! All grade 7
and 8 students welcome!
7/8 3D Animation
Club: Any 7/8 students interested in 3D animation are welcome to join the NEW 3D
Animation Club on Tuesdays during 7/8 lunch. The first meeting will
start on Tuesday, February 19th in room 103. For

7/8 Yoga- All students are welcome
to come out to yoga on Tuesdays at lunchtime. Yoga takes place in the Dance
studio at 12:30. You are welcome to come a little earlier to eat your lunch
there before we start yoga. No experience or equipment needed. (KM)
7 & 8 Swim Team - Tryouts will take place at MINTO Recreation Complex March
5 & 7th from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Please
attend both tryouts. Competitive and non-competitive swimmers welcome and no
previous experience necessary. Students are responsible for their own
transportation to and from the pool. A sign-up list and permission forms are
posted outside of room 234. All swimmers are
reminded to bring their permission form to Mme Pendergest prior to the first
tryout. Please note that students who make the team must be able to commit
to team practices on Tuesdays & Thursdays between
April 9 - May 9, 2019. (CP March 7)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Attention
Grade 11 students: Nokia
is providing paid internship opportunities to students this summer!
Nokia’s
Future Tech Internship is a paid, seven week program that will run from July 2nd –
August 16th. Student who are entering grade twelve in Fall
2019 will have the opportunity to work alongside Nokia engineering
teams on real, technical projects. Future Tech Interns are paired with Nokia
Mentors who will not only give them their technical projects over the seven
weeks, but also help them learn the skills required to succeed. Students are to
submit their 1-minute video application, along with their most recent report
card and a list of grade twelve courses, to Future.Tech@nokia.com by March
24th, 2019. Questions can also be directed to that address.

HS Dance: On Thursday, February
28th Student Council and MUCH MUSIC VIDEO are hosting the SMT Choice
Awards & Semi Formal Dance at St. Mother Teresa. This is a semi-formal
video dance that all grade 9-12 students are invited to attend - tickets can be
purchased on School Cash Online or at school in the Atrium at lunch for $5 (guests
are $7 and must be approved by a VP). Check your my.mths account to see if
you've bought a ticket! (TN Feb. 26)
Costa Rica 2020: Would you like to travel to the biologically
diverse areas of COSTA RICA from March 12-19, 2020 for a chance to observe
howler monkeys, manatees and giant iguanas? Any high school student
interested in learning more about this exciting opportunity is invited to come
to room 209 to pickup an information letter and parent permission form.
We will have a meeting for interested students at the beginning of lunch on Tuesday, February 12th in room 209.

Night school registration forms
from the public board have arrived! Come get your form in Student Services.
You, your
parent/guardian and your counsellor needs to sign the form. Once all three
signatures are on the form and you have your student status sheet, you are all
set to go and register at 440

Program - Winter 2019 - Register online at conted.ocsb.ca or
by mailing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing Education
Department (570 West Hunt Club Road). The form can be picked up from Student
Services. Registration is open from now until February 19th. You must be 16 years old and have a G1
License prior to February 25th. First class starts Wednesday, February 27th. (KW Feb. 19)

LF Volunteers: Winterman Marathon
– Saturday/Sunday February 16/17, 2019 (Canada War Museum) https://somersault.ca/winterman-run/ Saturday would be from 9 am
– 3 pm Indoor – Registration Outside – Site Set Up
Sunday would
be from 6:30 am – 2 pm or 3 pm (or whatever time you can
spare) Indoor – registration *come prepared to rotate outside positions
after 8:30 am Outside (rotating) – Course Marshals, Aid Stations, Finish

Lunch is
NOT provided (There is a volunteer room nearby for lunch and breaks, as well as
the Museum Cafeteria). We encourage volunteers to bring food/drink to get
them through their time with us or purchase food at the Museum Cafeteria.
