The Scholastic Book Fair is in the Learning Commons: Every year Scholastic provides several amazing books and gifts to purchase in our “bookstore” (Learning Commons Seminar Room). Both high school and intermediate students are welcome to drop by before, after school, or during the lunch hour. All funds raised are used to buy literacy resources for our Learning Commons. 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Any female students from Grades 7 – 12 interested in learning more about this year’s 2019 Technovation Challenge are encouraged to attend an information session on Monday, Nov. 26th during HS lunch in TLC (library). Ms. Jennifer Francis from the Ottawa Chapter of Women Powering Technology will be presenting information along with last year's Ottawa Chapter Silver Finalists from SMT (Francesca Berkoh, Aurora Tracy, Catalina Vivas-Sarmiento and Serena Iyoha). Yoga - Grade 7/8 yoga is cancelled this week. Yoga will be back next Tuesday in the dance studio at lunch time. New members are always welcome. (KM Nov. 20)

Red Maple Book Club: All members of the Red Maple Book Club are asked to meet at the beginning of lunch on Thursday, November 22nd in the Learning Commons. All of the books are ready to be signed out and the seminar room will once again be available to us.  (NBD Nov. 22)

The Titans for Justice 3 week RESTORING HOPE campaign has begun! Students are asked to kindly bring in any of the following suggested items to homeroom up until our deadline of November 23rd. (LD Nov. 22)
Items include:
  • Travel-sized toiletries (lotions, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant)
  • Small packages of wipes
  • Dental care items (flossers, toothbrush/toothpaste, gum/mints)
  • Chapstick
  • Hair elastics
  • Bandaids
  • Hand/foot warmers
  • Socks
  • Cough drops
  • Reusable water bottles
  • Reusable mug
  • Gently used backpacks or string backpacks

Makerspace Club: Our Makerspace club is so popular, we need to divide the club into two different groups. The first group will now meet on Mondays at lunch and will include students from 7-01 - 7-05. Our Tuesday group will include students from 7-06 - 7-10 and all students from grade 8.

Are you into Trivia Crack? Do you have a talent for remembering useless information? Then come show off your brain power at Reach for the Top. For anyone interested in competing in this years Reach For the Top trivia tournament, there will be a meeting at lunch on Thursday, November 22 in room 307. (JS Nov. 22)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

LF Volunteers: Winterman Marathon – Saturday/Sunday February 16/17, 2019 (Canada War Museum)  https://somersault.ca/winterman-run/ Saturday would be from 9 am – 3 pm Indoor – Registration Outside – Site Set Up
Sunday would be from 6:30 am – 2 pm or 3 pm (or whatever time you can spare) Indoor – registration *come prepared to rotate outside positions after 8:30 am Outside (rotating) – Course Marshals, Aid Stations, Finish Line
Lunch is NOT provided (There is a volunteer room nearby for lunch and breaks, as well as the Museum Cafeteria).  We encourage volunteers to bring food/drink to get them through their time with us or purchase food at the Museum Cafeteria.
Paid parking onsite Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday buses run near the Museum.  Sunday - suggest being picked up and dropped off at the Museum Contact:  info@somersault.ca (KW)

LF Volunteers: St. Luke is having their annual Christmas "Snowflake Ball" Dance on Friday, November 30 from 5:30 to 8pm and are seeking 20 volunteers to help setup and have other duties during the event.  You would need to
be there from 4pm to 8:30pm and you will be provided with a slice of pizza and a bottle of water.  If you are interested in volunteering, please email

LF Volunteers:  Manotick Family Christmas Party. December 1, 2018. Require students from 1 pm to 4:30 pm. Must provide own transportation to and from the church (Manotick United Church).
