2019 Technovation: Any girls interested
in participating in this year’s 2019 Technovation Challenge are
asked to pick up an information package from Resource Room 132. “Girls
in grades 7-12 (will) work in teams of 3-5, paired with a female mentor
from high tech, to develop a mobile app that is relevant to their
community, conduct market research, write business plans, and create a “pitch”
for funding. There is a monetary prize for the winning Ottawa team and the
chance for the top 2-3 teams to compete globally! Last year’s top teams came
from Colonel By, Mother Teresa and Summerside Public School. (SH Nov. 2)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Makerspace Club: Our Makerspace club is so popular, we need to divide
the club into two different groups. The first group will now meet on Mondays at lunch and will include students
from 7-01 - 7-05. Our Tuesday group will
include students from 7-06 - 7-10 and all students from grade 8.
New Group
for 7/8's concerned about the LGBTQ+ Community: We are starting a new group for
students who are concerned about LGBTQ+ safety and inclusion in our school
community. Inspired by our school motto "Love and Dignity', we will
gather to help create safer spaces for LGBTQ+ students at SMT. All our
welcome. Our first meeting will be in Mr. Connor's room #333 on Thursday, November 1st at lunch.

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Attention Gr. 11 & 12 students. The Dual
Credit program is an exciting opportunity to experience an Algonquin college
course while you are in high school (second semester) and earn a credit at both
institutions. There will be an important information meeting about Dual Credit on Monday,
October 29th at the beginning of lunch (11:30am)
in Student Services. Please don't hesitate to come and inquire. (Oct. 29)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
LF Volunteers: Manotick
Family Christmas Party. December 1, 2018. Require students from 1
pm to 4:30 pm. Must provide own transportation to and from the church
(Manotick United Church). It is a fun day for everyone. Lots of
