WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attention Ski and Snowboard Club: Reminder that Wednesday, March 7th is our last day for Ski Club.  This replaces the day that was missed on the on the 21st of February. (KB March 7)
Red Pine Leadership camp: Are you interested in attending a leadership camp run by Red Pine camp.  A one week overnight camp, for youth entering grades 7-11, will run the last week of August.  The camp will focus on leadership training.  Days at camp are filled with games, sports, drama, swimming, crafts, boating, low ropes course and so much more. If you are interested, or would like more information, please see Mrs. Byrne in Student Services.  Deadline to apply is March 15th.  

Ottawa University’s Mini Medical School presents:
-       6 week courses on Thursday Evenings from April 12, 2018 - May 17, 2018 at the The Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus and/or
-       DOC for a Day on Tues., April 24, 2018 in the evening at the University of Ottawa Skills and Simulation Centre.

Looking for Math Enrichment opportunities in our community? 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Today's Chess/Robot club is cancelled, as the Learning Commons is closed for the all-day reconciliation service. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, March 21st. Have a great March break! (NBD March 7)

8 Swim Team - Tryouts will take place at MINTO Recreation Complex March 5 & 7th from 3:00 - 4:00 pmPlease attend both tryouts. Competitive and non-competitive swimmers welcome and no background is necessary. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the pool. Permission forms are posted outside of room 234. All swimmers are reminded to bring their permission form to Mme Pendergest prior to the first tryout. Please note that students who make the team must be able to commit to practices on Tuesdays & Thursdays between April 10 - May 3rd. The Swim Meet will be on May 9th, 2018. (CP March 7)

The Learning Commons' clubs have begun, but new members are always welcome.  The Makerspace and Red Maple books clubs start at the beginning of the lunch period and students are asked to bring their lunches with them.
  • The Makerspace club is a fun club that includes crafts, Lego, knitting and so much more. This club will meet Tuesdays for Grade 7s and Thursdays for Grade 8s. 
  • Our Red Maple book club will meet every Friday at lunch. This year's club will be reading up to 10 Canadian Fiction selections selected specifically for students in grades 7 and 8. The titles have been announced and will be discussed at this week's meeting. 
The Learning Commons lunch passes: Please stop at the Learning Commons' main desk, before 8:35am, and sign out your pass for the day.

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

New York City Trip: A reminder to all students going on this year's New York City trip that the final payment and all outstanding paperwork (Passport and Travel Insurance) are due to Mr. Rowley in Room 136 by Friday, March 23rd 2018.This is a firm and mandatory deadline. (MR March 23)

Any high school student interested in timekeeping the 7/8 Royal/Titan Hockey Classic in Barrhaven March 27th, 28th, 29th and April 3rd and 4th, please see Mr. Helman or Mr. Quinn.  Tournament games are between 8:30am and 3pm.  Six volunteers are needed for each date.  Pizza lunch is included on each day.  Students can volunteer for 1 day or multiple days.  Tournament games will either take place at Minto Recreation Complex or Walter Baker Sports Complex depending on the date chosen. HS Track & Field: Any High School (9-12) boys or girls interested in trying out for this year's Track and Field team are asked to meet in room 100 (ART STUDIO) at the start of lunch (11:30 am) on Thursday, March 29th 2018 - Be on time! (MR March 29)

Marine Biology Trip to New Brunswick September, 2018: A unique learning opportunity awaits students enrolled in the Grade 11/12 University Biology or grade 11 Environmental Science during the 2018/2019 school year.  The students enrolled in these courses are eligible to participate in a Marine Biology Trip from September 16-20, 2018 to the Huntsman Marine Science Center in St. Andrew's, New Brunswick.   Access the following link for a complete itinerary and initial form Marine Biology itinerary and Initial Interest Form 2018.  Return the form to Ms. D'Angela in room 211 period 1, 3 or 4. Girls Indoor Soccer: There will be a tryout for any girls interested in trying out for an indoor 7 vs 7 soccer tournament. Tryouts will be March 6th and 7th at 7:30am in the wood floor gym. (CN March 7)

Nokia Future Tech Internship 2018: If you are a student going into grade 12 who is curious, interested or has a passion
​ for Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics, this is the internship for you. The Future Tech Internship is a 7-week program that will have you working alongside Nokia engineering teams solving real, technical problems. Over the course of the summer, you will contribute to meaningful work while receiving support and valuable lessons from a Nokia Future Tech Mentor. You will discover new possibilities and skills that will help you make an impact on the future of technology.
