HS Day 1


Lost and found items - From February 20th – 23rd, all items in the lost and found will be displayed in the atrium. If you have lost anything, please look for it in the display. On Friday February, 23rd, the items will be packed up and donated to charity. (SS Feb 23)

Red Pine Leadership camp: Are you interested in attending a leadership camp run by Red Pine camp.  A one week overnight camp, for youth entering grades 7-11, will run the last week of August.  The camp will focus on leadership training.  Days at camp are filled with games, sports, drama, swimming, crafts, boating, low ropes course and so much more. If you are interested, or would like more information, please see Mrs. Byrne in Student Services.  Deadline to apply is March 15th.

Looking for Math Enrichment opportunities in our community? 7&8 French Immersion Excursion to 'La Cabane a Sucre - Students will tour the museum and evaporator house, enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the bush, savour taffy on the snow and eat a traditional buffet brunch. Permission forms have gone home for this year's cultural excursion to the Sugar Bush (la Cabane a Sucre). Payments can be made on Deadline to return permission forms and make payment is Friday February 23rd, 2018. Questions - see Mme Pendergest in room 234. (CP Feb 23)

The Learning Commons' clubs have begun, but new members are always welcome.  The Makerspace and Red Maple books clubs start at the beginning of the lunch period and students are asked to bring their lunches with them.
  • The Makerspace club is a fun club that includes crafts, Lego, knitting and so much more. This club will meet Tuesdays for Grade 7s and Thursdays for Grade 8s. 
  • Our Red Maple book club will meet every Friday at lunch. This year's club will be reading up to 10 Canadian Fiction selections selected specifically for students in grades 7 and 8. The titles have been announced and will be discussed at this week's meeting.

NAV CANADA’s Explore Aviation Summer Camp - this summer, 20 girls entering Grade 10 in September 2018, will gather from July 15th - 20th. Their mission: one week of learning with a focus on aviation (fly drones, practice air traffic control and flight service sessions in real world training simulators, interact with industry speakers). Applications for this all-expenses-paid camp are due March 9th.

Beginner Driver Education - Winter 2018 - with DTSM Driving School - Register online at or by mailing/faxing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing Education Department (570 West Hunt Club Road).  Registration forms are available in Student Services.  Registration runs until February 16th.  Classes at St. Mother Teresa High School will run on Wednesdays, from 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm. First class is February 28th. 

OCSB Baysitting Course: Our OCSB Continuing and Community Education Department is offering the Canada Safety Council babysitting training course at our school for the winter 2018 session. Dates are: Saturday, January 13th, February 3rd or March 3rd, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.  The cost is $70. Students must be 12 years of age, must establish a passing grade of 75% on the final exam to receive their certificate. Students are asked to bring their own lunch and snacks to the class. Nokia Future Tech Internship 2018: If you are a student going into grade 12 who is curious, interested or has a passion
​ for Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics, this is the internship for you. The Future Tech Internship is a 7-week program that will have you working alongside Nokia engineering teams solving real, technical problems. Over the course of the summer, you will contribute to meaningful work while receiving support and valuable lessons from a Nokia Future Tech Mentor. You will discover new possibilities and skills that will help you make an impact on the future of technology. LF Volunteers: KIDSFEST Ottawa, Saturday, March 3rd from 8:30am-4:00pm (can be all day or a block of 4 hours)
Sunday, March 4th from 9:00am-4:00pm (can be all day or block of 4 hours) 
A volunteer t-shirt is provided, casual dress (jeans, bk pants ok).
Lunch and water provided. Student volunteers will be assigned various jobs such as: ticket scanning, info booth, requesting attendees to complete surveys, supervising the bouncy castle, supervising the Green Room (performers room/items), assisting exhibitors at their booth (some may have interactive displays), assisting exhibitors engage children to get involved them involved in an activity. The students should speak English and/or French (other languages helpful)
The students should enjoy a loud and lively and public environment.  
Children attending KIDSFEST are accompanied by an adult at all times; however, children may get lost (or parent) and the student volunteer may need to help SHOW Management. Students in drama, performing arts, early childcare and social work studies would most likely enjoy helping at this event. (KW March 3)
