WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Lost and found items - From February 20th – 23rd, all items in the lost and found will be displayed in the atrium. If you have lost anything, please look for it in the display. On Friday February, 23rd, the items will be packed up and donated to charity. (SS Feb 23)

Breakfast Club – The breakfast club runs out of the tuck shop in the atrium every morning till 8:30 a.m. It is free for all students. We know many of you are rushing out the door in the morning, so you are more than welcome to grab one or some of the following; a bagel, a piece of fruit, milk and/or a granola bar. The menu varies throughout the year but we want all students to know they are welcome and the program is for them! (KM)

Red Pine Leadership camp: Are you interested in attending a leadership camp run by Red Pine camp.  A one week overnight camp, for youth entering grades 7-11, will run the last week of August.  The camp will focus on leadership training.  Days at camp are filled with games, sports, drama, swimming, crafts, boating, low ropes course and so much more. If you are interested, or would like more information, please see Mrs. Byrne in Student Services.  Deadline to apply is March 15th.  

Ottawa University’s Mini Medical School presents:
-       6 week courses on Thursday Evenings from April 12, 2018 - May 17, 2018 at the The Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus and/or
-       DOC for a Day on Tues., April 24, 2018 in the evening at the University of Ottawa Skills and Simulation Centre.

Looking for Math Enrichment opportunities in our community? 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

7/8 Course Selection: Any Grade 7/8 student who missed the course selection presentations last week, please come by Student Services at 12:25 on Tuesday, February 20th with your lunch for the presentation. (TC Feb 20)

The annual MT Read-A-Thon is next Thursday, February 22nd. Do not miss out on an amazing day of reading and fun, including a presentation/meet and greet with author Caighlan Smith. Tuesday will be the final day to return payment and pledge sheets to the Learning Commons (online payment will close on Tuesday).  (NBD Feb 22)

7&8 French Immersion Excursion to 'La Cabane a Sucre - Students will tour the museum and evaporator house, enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the bush, savour taffy on the snow and eat a traditional buffet brunch. Permission forms have gone home for this year's cultural excursion to the Sugar Bush (la Cabane a Sucre). Payments can be made on https://ocsb.schoolcashonline.com/. Deadline to return permission forms and make payment is Friday February 23rd, 2018. Questions - see Mme Pendergest in room 234. (CP Feb 23)

The Learning Commons' clubs have begun, but new members are always welcome.  The Makerspace and Red Maple books clubs start at the beginning of the lunch period and students are asked to bring their lunches with them.
  • The Makerspace club is a fun club that includes crafts, Lego, knitting and so much more. This club will meet Tuesdays for Grade 7s and Thursdays for Grade 8s. 
  • Our Red Maple book club will meet every Friday at lunch. This year's club will be reading up to 10 Canadian Fiction selections selected specifically for students in grades 7 and 8. The titles have been announced and will be discussed at this week's meeting. 
The Learning Commons lunch passes: Please stop at the Learning Commons' main desk, before 8:35am, and sign out your pass for the day.

UNB Visit: A representative from The University of New Brunswick (UNB) will be here for a second visit on February 22nd, at 8:10 am, in the atrium. (KW Feb 22)

Beginner Driver Education - Winter 2018 - with DTSM Driving School - Register online at conted.ocsb.ca or by mailing/faxing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing Education Department (570 West Hunt Club Road).  Registration forms are available in Student Services.  Registration runs until February 16th.  Classes at St. Mother Teresa High School will run on Wednesdays, from 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm. First class is February 28th. 

OCSB Baysitting Course: Our OCSB Continuing and Community Education Department is offering the Canada Safety Council babysitting training course at our school for the winter 2018 session. Dates are: Saturday, January 13th, February 3rd or March 3rd, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.  The cost is $70. Students must be 12 years of age, must establish a passing grade of 75% on the final exam to receive their certificate. Students are asked to bring their own lunch and snacks to the class. The Milk Bag Club will be meeting on Thursdays from 11:30 am to 12 noon. These are the upcoming dates for this school year: February 15, 2018; March 8 2018; April 19, 2018; April 26, 2018; May 17, 2018 and May 24, 2018.
