WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attention Skiers and Snowboarders:: Aren't you excited for all this snow!? Can you not wait to get out on the slopes? Ski and snowboard club applications are available in the office.  It will run all Wednesdays in February: (7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th) Please pick up the information package in the office to find out more! (KB Jan 10th)

This is a reminder to parents who have ordered play tickets online, and don't want them left at the door, please have your child come and pick them up in the main office with Ms. Zimmer.

Battle of the Bites!  The event you've been waiting for!...Bring your loonies and twonies on Monday, December 18th at lunch in the Atrium for the Intro to Bizz - Entrepreneurship Competition.  Purchase your favorite treats.  May the best store win! (SM Dec. 18)

Are you interested in participating in The Enrichment Mini-Courses Program this year May 6th- 11th?  This opportunity is for students in Gr 8 -11.  The courses take place at the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, La Cite and Saint Paul's University Mon- Fri from 9 am - 3pm.  Students are responsible for their own transportation.  Courses are offered in a variety of disciplines including technology, psychology, engineering, journalism, music and law. If this opportunity interests you please pop by Rm 130 to pick up an application. Cost is $133.00.  Forms are due - DEC 22, 2017.  We have a limited number of spots and completed applications will be chosen by a lottery system.  (NC Dec. 21)

Breakfast Club Volunteers - All students who have helped out with Breakfast Club are invited to our "Christmas Meeting" On Monday, December 18th at 11:30 a.m in Room 208. All students are asked to attend. See you there! (Km Dec. 18)

A Note to Parents regarding Online Payments: If there is something you would like to pay online for your child and  cannot find it on the school cash online system, please call the school to inquire and we will happily add it on. (KZ Dec. 20)

Looking for Math Enrichment opportunities in our community? 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Gingerbread house raffle: Do you want to have a wonderful treat to share with your whole family? Or even eat yourself? Come to the atrium in the morning and after school to buy a raffle ticket from 7/8 student council for the chance to win a beautiful gingerbread house!  Tickets are 1 for 1$ or 3 for 2$. 7/8 Boys Floor Ball: Any grade 7/8 boys interesting in playing floor ball hockey this year is invited to the first tryouts Monday, January 8th 2018. For more information, come see Mme Côté.  (MC Dec. 22)

Candy Grams: Don't forget to go buy your candy grams from 7/8 student council in the caf! Gift them to your friends, or to someone who might need a pick me up :) 2$ in the caf gym during 7/8 lunch.  Don't miss out!

The Learning Commons' clubs have begun, but new members are always welcome.  The Makerspace and Red Maple books clubs start at the beginning of the lunch period and students are asked to bring their lunches with them.
  • The Makerspace club is a fun club that includes crafts, Lego, knitting and so much more. This club will meet Tuesdays for Grade 7s and Thursdays for Grade 8s. 
  • Our Red Maple book club will meet every Friday at lunch. This year's club will be reading up to 10 Canadian Fiction selections selected specifically for students in grades 7 and 8. The titles have been announced and will be discussed at this week's meeting. 
The Learning Commons lunch passes: Please stop at the Learning Commons' main desk, before 8:35am, and sign out your pass for the day.

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Reach for the top students and those interested in Biology - during lunch this week, Ms. Soprovich in room 202 will be hosting a viewing of Planet Earth II. Geography, biology and earth sciences are all part of the films. Each day will be a different episode. Bring your lunch and a device to record information if you are a RFTT participant. (SS Dec. 15)

The Global Exposure Program - still has a few spots available for the 10-day mission trip to Guatemala in March 2018.  This will be an opportunity to live in a developing country while working in some of the poorest areas, on community projects and with students. Furthermore, we will be exploring Guatemalan culture at some of its most breathtaking locations, as well as visiting historical sites like the Mayan Ruins. It is a trip that will impact your life.  Please see Mrs Ragaisis if you are interested in this incredible once in a lifetime experience. (SR Dec 18)

Ski Trip: If you are interested in the ski trip to Vermont I now have the provisional letters available. The dates are March 2-4th, 2018 and the price is $425. If you are interested in the trip, come and collect a form and return it with a $100 deposit to Mr. Pentlow in room 103 by December 15th to secure your spot on the bus.  (AP Dec.15 )

The Milk Bag Club will be meeting on Thursdays from 11:30 am to 12 noon. These are the dates for this school year:  January 18, 2018; February 15, 2018; March 8 2018; April 19, 2018; April 26, 2018; May 17, 2018 and May 24, 2018.

GRADE 12’s:

Attention Grads! Tuesday, December 19th is Grad Trivia and Pizza Lunch. Trivia will be during period 2 with lunch to follow. Go to my.mths.ca to let us know your preference for pizza and pop. Movie prizes will be won and there is a chance for 1 lucky student to win their ticket to prom! Please make sure you have paid your grad fees on line or to Mrs Chaisson in room 130 to be eligible to participate. (TC Dec. 19)
