WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Moustache Day at SMT: On Thursday,
November 30th it is
Moustache Day at St. Mother Teresa for all grades 7 to 12, in support of
Movember (a charity that raises money for men's cancer research). All students
and teachers are invited to wear a fake (or real) moustache to raise awareness
and to bring in some donations. The homeroom with the most moustaches will win
a Timbits breakfast. Also, $1 raffle tickets will be sold for the grand prize:
shaving Mr. Gervasi's face at lunch on Friday!! (TN Nov. 30)
Great News! Booklets of 5 tickets for Morning
Munch cereal program can be purchased through school cash online until December 13th. Energize and inspire with a healthy bowl of
cereal and milk for a limited time. Each Morning Munch contains and inspiring
note or a prize voucher! The student run company is part of the Junior
Achievement program helping students develop leadership and entrepreneurial
skills. Morning Munch supports the Ottawa Humane Society. Thank you for your

A Note to Parents regarding Online Payments: If there is something you would like to pay online
for your child and can not find it on

Looking
for Math Enrichment opportunities in our community? If so, Carleton
University's Math Enrichment Centre is offering a new course: Math
Connections in Arts, Science and Beyond, for Grade 8 to 10 students. Classes
will run from Sept. 26, 2017 to April 2018
on Tuesday evenings from 6 - 7:30 PM. Course

The yearbook is doing grade surveys this year for grade 7-11. If you
want to be part of the results click on the link below for your corresponding
grade and answer the three questions. Any questions speak to Mr Pentlow
in room 103. (AP Dec. 1)

The Learning Commons' clubs have begun, but new members are
always welcome. The Makerspace and Red Maple book clubs start at
the beginning of the lunch period and students are asked to bring their lunches
with them.

The Makerspace club is a fun club that includes crafts,
Lego, knitting and so much more. This club will meet on Tuesdays for Grade
7s and Thursdays for Grade 8s.

Our Red Maple book club will meet
every Friday at lunch. This year's club will be reading up to 10
Canadian Fiction selections selected specifically for students in grades 7 and
8. The titles have been announced and will be discussed at this week's
meeting.
The
Learning Commons lunch passes: Please stop at the Learning
Commons' main desk, before 8:35am, and sign out your pass for the
day.

REACH FOR THE TOP IS BACK! High school students
interested in joining the Reach for the Top Club and playing in our intramural
trivia league are asked to hand in Team Submission Forms to Mr. Specht (Rm.
307) or Mr. Hanneman (Rm. 200) by Tuesday, November 28th.

Attention all High School Cross Country Runners. There is an important meeting for all athletes interested in
ordering a X-Country Sweatshirt on Tuesday, November 28th at
lunch in room 304. Attendance is mandatory to pick a design for the

cute picture of yourself in the yearbook you need to submit it by November 31st

There are only 20 baby pictures in at the moment. There are two weeks to
go before the deadline of November 31st.
Make sure you don't miss out once the deadline closes there will be no more
submissions. Please submit your photo in the box in student services or email

The OC Transpo 2017 Annual Christmas Food Drive is taking
place on Saturday, December 2nd from 9am to
6pm. A variety of shifts are available. If you are available to

Looking for volunteers for their 10 activity stations set up in the Manotick
United Church. Need students from 1pm to 4:30pm. Must
provide your own transportation to and from the church. Please contact

LF Volunteers: Mayor's 17th Annual Christmas
Celebration taking place at Ottawa City Hall from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday,

Arrive no later than 12:30 p.m. at the
Festival Control Boardroom (located on the 1st floor of City
Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West) to sign-in, get a
briefing on how the event will unfold, have a bite to eat and get into
position. A light lunch will be provided to volunteers before the
event. Please be prepared to work until approximately 7:30 p.m. given
that we will need help after the event to assist with clean up.
In compliance with Ontario law, all volunteers must
have completed their AODA training to volunteer for an event. If you have

All volunteers
under the age of 18 require the signature of their parent / guardian.
Parent/Guardian Consent form can be downloaded from
our online application.
Also, please note that the
majority of festivities will be taking place outdoors, therefore, please
