WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Shepherds of Good Hope Collection: The SMT toiletries collection for Shepherds of Good Hope
starts on Tuesday, October 10th. We are collecting
shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant
and moisturizer to be distributed to those in need. Travel sizes of these items
are ideal. Our collection runs until Friday, October 20th. Please bring your items into

Looking
for Math Enrichment opportunities in our community? If so, Carleton
University's Math Enrichment Centre is offering a new course: Math
Connections in Arts, Science and Beyond, for Grade 8 to 10 students. Classes
will run from Sept. 26, 2017 to April 2018
on Tuesday evenings from 6 - 7:30 PM. Course

The Learning Commons' clubs have begun, but new members are
always welcome. The Makerspace and Red Maple book clubs start at
the beginning of the lunch period and students are asked to bring their lunches
with them.

The Makerspace club is a fun club that includes crafts,
Lego, knitting and so much more. This club will meet on Tuesdays for Grade
7s and Thursdays for Grade 8s.

Our Red Maple book club will meet
every Friday at lunch. This year's club will be reading up to 10
Canadian Fiction selections selected specifically for students in grades 7 and
8. The titles have been announced and will be discussed at this week's
meeting.
The
Learning Commons lunch passes: Please stop at the Learning
Commons' main desk, before 8:35am, and sign out your pass for the
day.

Dual Credit: Registration is
open for semester 2 Dual credit courses at Algonquin College. The deadline to
apply is Oct 31st. This is a great opportunity for students in grades 11
and 12, Pop by Student Services to pick up more information
about Algonquin College's Dual Credit program. Earn 1 high
school credit and 1 college credit at the same time! A variety of courses are
being offered: Graphic Design, ECE, Chef Training, Trades Exploration, Career
and College Success, Tourism, Canadian Music Industry, Accounting, Political
Science, Logical and Critical Thinking, Math for Powerline Technicians

IMUM- Our next IMUM meeting is Monday Oct 23rd in Room
208 at 11:30. We will be learning our first two lessons for the

looking for 14 grade 12s who are 17+ and willing to give blood on Monday, November 6th. If interested, please attend a

missing part of the morning and would have a pizza lunch provided.

Looking for student volunteers (video recording and editing,
social media; stage assistant, participants).
Youth night for mental health on November 4, 2017 from 7 to 9pm at Barrhaven United Church. The
event includes a live concert and messages from mental health advocates, such
as Neida Mercedes founder of the Faith and Mind Ministry (FAMM) an
interdenominational group dedicated to mental health awareness. Students may sign in by messaging FAMM (Neida

Looking for a grade 12 student to tutor a
student in grade 11 university biology. Must be willing to come to the
student’s home in Barrhaven. The tutoring might be needed a couple of

LF Volunteers: Do
you have what it takes? Watson’s Mill in Manotick wants you to join our cast
and crew for a truly haunting experience. We need volunteers who will scare our
visitors and leave them frightened of things that go bump in the night.
Volunteers will be need for the evenings of October 19, 20, and 21
from 5pm – 10pm. Volunteers must be 14 or older and will need parental consent. All
time spent as part of our cast and crew can be used towards the 40 hours of
