Breakfast Club - The breakfast club
is now open . All students grades 7-12 are welcome to stop by the Tuck shop in
the morning to pick up breakfast before class. (KM Sept. 29)
Virtual Ventures will be hosting Go Eng Girl again
this year for girls in grades 7-10 on Saturday, October
14, 2017 (9:00am-2:00pm)! Go ENG Girl is
a unique opportunity for female students in Grades 7 to 10 and
their parents to learn about careers in the exciting field of engineering and
technology. We are very excited to be hosting a Panel of
Women from Shopify to answer questions and speak to what it’s like to
be a women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) at one of
Canada’s most successful tech companies! Registration is now open. For

Looking for Math Enrichment opportunities in our community? If so,
Carleton University's Math Enrichment Centre is offering a new course: Math
Connections in Arts, Science and Beyond, for Grade 8 to 10 students. Classes
will run from Sept. 26, 2017 to April 2018
on Tuesday evenings from 6 - 7:30 PM. Course details and online

Go ENG Girl Event - October 14th, 2017
from 9am to 4pm - The Faculty of
Engineering at University of Ottawa would like to extend a special invitation
to girls in grade 7 to grade 10 to participate in the Go ENG Girl event. This free event will
give girls the opportunity to explore the exciting field of engineering through
activities designed just for them! Drop off and pick-up will be inside the main
entrance of the Site building. A pizza lunch will be included. Registration is
required online at http://events.onwie.ca. The event will be bilingual. Activities include a visit of
the engineering labs, hands-on activities, challenges, and a presentation from
female engineers. See Mme Pendergest in room 234 for more information. (CP Oct. 4)
7/8 Boys Volleyball: All boys
interested in trying out for the 7/8 boys volleyball team are asked to attend
tryouts on Tuesday, September 26th and Thursday, September 28th after school
from 3-4pm. Please see Mme Haucke if you cannot attend. Check outside the phys
ed office for a sign- up sheet. (KH Sept.28)
Interested in playing an instrument? Looking for a challenge
and some excitement? Come and join the St. Mother Teresa grade 7 or
grade 8 concert band! We will be having an important meeting Wednesday September 27 in room 120 at the beginning of

The Faculty
of Engineering at the University of Ottawa will be at
our school on WEDNESDAY, OCT. 4th. Students interested in
participating in one or more of the following activities, please see either
Mrs. Chiasson or Mrs. Hayes in Resource (Room 130/132). Spots are

The Learning Commons lunch passes will be available to sign out starting Monday,
September 18th. Please stop at the Learning Commons' main desk,
before 8:35am, and sign out your pass for the day.

The Learning Commons' clubs will begin the last week of
September. Students may sign up for our clubs starting this week. Sign up
sheets will be at the main LC desk. The Makerspace and Red Maple book clubs
start at the beginning of the lunch period and students are asked to bring
their lunches with them.

The Makerspace club is a fun club that includes crafts, Lego, knitting
and so much more. This club will meet on Tuesdays for Grade 7s and
Thursdays for Grade 8s.

Our Red Maple book club will meet every Friday at lunch. This
year's club will be reading up to 10 Canadian Fiction selections selected
specifically for students in grades 7 and 8.
To all 7/8 Student Council Reps: please return your leadership camp permission forms to Ms.
Brennan in room 232 as soon as possible. They are due October 2nd. (KB Oct. 2)
7/8 Cross-Country Running: Any
grade 7 or 8 students interested in coming out for the cross-country running
team are invited to sign up outside of Mr. Quinn’s Phys-Ed office on the
bulletin board. Practices will start Tuesday, September 12th after
school and will run from 3:00pm - 4:00pm.
Subsequent practices will be on Sept. 14th, 19th,
20th, 26th and 28th. Please meet Mme Kinloch in the courtyard behind the
school at 3:00pm. More information will be posted
on the bulletin board outside Mr.

Cross- Country: This is just a
reminder for all High School Cross Country athletes that ALL fees are due tomorrow, Friday September 22 in
order to compete in this year's season. Our first meet is Wednesday September 27. (MG Sept. 27)

be at least 16 years old and have a G1 license prior to October 16,
2017. Classes at St. Mother Teresa High School run on Wednesdays and

Summer School Report Cards: Student
Summer School Report Cards are available for pick up in Student Services
from 8:00am to 3:30pm. (KW Sept.29)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
LF Volunteers: Do you have what
it takes? Watson’s Mill in Manotick wants you to join our cast and crew for a
truly haunting experience. We need volunteers who will scare our visitors and
leave them frightened of things that go bump in the night. Volunteers
will be need for the evenings of October 19, 20, and 21 from 5pm –
10pm.
Volunteers must be 14 or older and will need parental consent.
All time spent as part of our cast and crew can be used towards
the 40 hours of community service needed to graduate.

LF Volunteers: Volunteer opportunity to help out with the Ontario University Provincial
Golf Tournament being held in Ottawa this year. It
runs Friday-Saturday-Sunday, October 13-15th, 2017 at Loch March
Golf Club. Students should have some idea of how golf works and the etiquette
that is needed. Ball spotting shifts will run in 4 hour blocks and a
full day would get you a bagged lunch and maybe a t-shirt . The volunteers
that are interested will be run through specific roles at an after school
meeting with Mr MacDonald the week of Oct 10th. (TC Oct. 10)
