WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
7-12 Environmental Club: Any student interested in being an
environmental steward and saving our planet is welcome to join! We will be
working in our school and in our community to promote eco-friendly activities
and events. Please see Mrs. Pari if you have any questions!
Virtual Ventures will be hosting Go Eng Girl again this
year for girls in grades 7-10 on Saturday, October 14, 2017 (9:00am-2:00pm)! Go
ENG Girl is a unique opportunity for female students in Grades
7 to 10 and their parents to learn about careers in the exciting field
of engineering and technology. We are very excited to be hosting a Panel of
Women from Shopify to answer questions and speak to what it’s like to
be a women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) at one of
Canada’s most successful tech companies! Registration is now open.

Looking for Math Enrichment opportunities in our community? If so,
Carleton University's Math Enrichment Centre is offering a new course: Math
Connections in Arts, Science and Beyond, for Grade 8 to 10 students. Classes
will run from Sept. 26, 2017 to April 2018 on Tuesday evenings
from 6 - 7:30 PM. Course details and online registration

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
7/8 Volleyball: If you are in
grade 7-8 and love volleyball, then this is a very important message for you. Try
outs will start next week. For more info and sign up, the sheets are located on
the billboard near the gym. (MC Sept. 22)
The Learning Commons lunch passes will be available to sign out
starting Monday, September 18th. Please stop at the Learning Commons' main
desk, before 8:35am, and sign out your pass for the day.

and Thursday
The Learning Commons' clubs will begin the last week of
September. Students may sign up for our clubs starting this week. Sign up
sheets will be at the main LC desk. The Makerspace and Red Maple book clubs
start at the beginning of the lunch period and students are asked to bring
their lunches with them.
· The Makerspace club is a fun club
that includes crafts, Lego, knitting and so much more. This club will meet
on Tuesdays for Grade 7s and Thursdays for Grade 8s.
· Our Red Maple book club will meet
every Friday at lunch. This year's club will be reading up to 10
Canadian Fiction selections selected specifically for students in grades 7 and
8.
To all 7/8 Student Council Reps: please return your leadership
camp permission forms to Ms. Brennan in room 232 as soon as possible.
They are due October 2nd. (KB Oct. 2)
7/8 Ultimate: Ultimate tryouts/practices continue next week for those
students who made the first cuts. Please check the list outside Mr. Quinn's
office. Try-outs/practices will be held on Tuesday, September 19th, Wednesday
the 20th and Thursday the 21st from 7:30 a.m to 8:30. Thank
you to everyone who's participated. (KS Sept.21)
Extra-Curricular Carousel Student Presenters: Students in
grade 8 who have been asked to present at the Extra-Curricular Carousels
on September 20th are asked to attend a brief, but mandatory meeting,
in room 234 on Tuesday, September 19th at lunch. Bring
your lunch, so you're ready to head outside after the meeting. (CP Sept. 19)
7/8 Cross-Country Running: Any grade 7 or 8 students interested
in coming out for the cross-country running team are invited to sign up outside
of Mr. Quinn’s Phys-Ed office on the bulletin board. Practices will start Tuesday,
September 12th after school and will run from 3:00pm - 4:00pm.
Subsequent practices will be on Sept. 14th, 19th, 20th, 26th and
28th. Please meet Mme Kinloch in the courtyard behind the school at 3:00pm.
More information will be posted on the bulletin board outside Mr.

All grade 7 students are invited to the annual St. Mother Teresa
Honk N' Blow on Thursday, September 21st from 6 to
8pm. Come try all the instruments that you may chose to play in your
Music class. There is no charge for this event.

Peer Helpers: Are you looking to get to know your peers and help our MT community?
Help fill the MTness through class visits and sporatic mindfulness
activities. This club has weekly commitments for semester 1. We need reliable,
responsible individuals with kind hearts. Our first meeting will
be Wednesday Sept 20th at lunch in room 310. Please see Mr. Côté if

HS Cross-Country Runners: All
High School Cross Country Athletes are now asked to pick up the permission and
team agreement forms in room 304. Team fees and athletic fees are due
by Friday September 22, 2017 if you
plan on competing in this year's season. Practices have started so forms
can also be obtained at practice. If you have any questions or concerns

Any grade 9-12 Boys' interested in playing Basketball this
season on the school Junior/Senior teams are invited to attend the following
open gym sessions on Thursday, September 14th and Thursday,

The STUDENT SERVICES WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an
information tool, including information about: Community Service Hours
Opportunities, Courses, Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.
Driver Education Program for Fall 2017. Registration
forms are now available in Student Services.
You can register online at conted.ocsb.ca, or by
mailing/faxing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing Education
Department (570 West Hunt Club Road) until October 11,
2017
You must be at least 16 years old and have a G1 license prior
to October 16, 2017. Classes at St. Mother Teresa High School run on
Wednesdays and start on October 18th, from 3:15pm to 6:00pm. (KW Oct. 18)
Night School - Public Board - OCDSB - registration forms will be available
in Student Services
on September 6, 2017. Registration period is from now
until September 21st, 2017. The winter session runs on Tuesday and
Thursday evenings form 6pm to 9:51pm at Woodroffe High School located
at 2410 Georgina Drive.
All fields on the registration form need to be completed; the form needs
to be signed by a counsellor, student and parent/guardian. A status sheet
must accompany the registration form.
You need to register in person, at 400 Albert Street, Room E122B

Summer School Report Cards: Student
Summer School Report Cards are available for pick up in Student Services
from 8:00am to 3:30pm. (KW Sept.29)
Please consider going to this information session. One former
student says it changed his life and he wished he had joined up in Grade 9! If
you wish to speak to him, please see Mrs. OSullivan in room 320 and she can
arrange it!

2017 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Visit their

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
LF Volunteers: Do you have what it takes? Watson’s Mill in Manotick wants you to
join our cast and crew for a truly haunting experience. We need volunteers who
will scare our visitors and leave them frightened of things that go bump in the
night. Volunteers will be need for the evenings of October 19, 20,
and 21 from 5pm – 10pm.
Volunteers must be 14 or older and will need parental consent.
All time spent as part of our cast and crew can be used towards
the 40 hours of community service needed to graduate.

LF Volunteers: Volunteer opportunity to help out with the Ontario
University Provincial Golf Tournament being held in Ottawa this year. It
runs Friday-Saturday-Sunday, October 13-15th, 2017 at Loch March
Golf Club. Students should have some idea of how golf works and the etiquette
that is needed. Ball spotting shifts will run in 4 hour blocks and a
full day would get you a bagged lunch and maybe a t-shirt . The volunteers
that are interested will be run through specific roles at an after school
meeting with Mr MacDonald the week of Oct 10th. (TC Oct. 10)
