WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Lost and found - Items will be set out on tables in the atrium from Monday Sept 11 - Friday Sept 15th. Any unclaimed items will be delivered to charity on Friday, September 15th after 3 pm.
Students are asked to put a lock on their locker no later than Friday.  Unclaimed lockers will be bolted Monday, September 18th. (MK Sept. 15)

Virtual Ventures will be hosting Go Eng Girl again this year for girls in grades 7-10 on Saturday, October 14, 2017 (9:00am-2:00pm)! Go ENG Girl is a unique opportunity for female students in Grades 7 to 10 and their parents to learn about careers in the exciting field of engineering and technology. We are very excited to be hosting a Panel of Women from Shopify to answer questions and speak to what it’s like to be a women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) at one of Canada’s most successful tech companies! Looking for Math Enrichment opportunities in our community? If so, Carleton University's Math Enrichment Centre is offering a new course: Math Connections in Arts, Science and Beyond, for Grade 8 to 10 students. Classes will run from Sept. 26, 2017 to April 2018 on Tuesday evenings from 6 - 7:30 PM. 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

7/8 Student Council Reps: will be meeting in room 238 at lunch on Wednesday, September 13th. (KH Sept. 13)

7/8 Girls Soccer: Any girls interested in trying out for the 7/8 girls soccer team (one day tournament) are asked to meet Madame Haucke on Wednesday, September 13th  after school. Please meet in the courtyard right out back of the school. (KH Sept. 13)

7/8 Boys Soccer: Any 7/8 boys interested in trying out for the outdoor soccer team, please come to our first try out Tuesday, September 12th after school. Meet in the back court yard. The try out will be from 3-4pm. (CN Sept. 12)

7/8 Golf: 7/8 Golf tryouts will take place Tuesday Sept. 12, and Thursday Sept. 14 from 3-4pm in the cafeteria gym.  Golfers only need to select a few clubs to bring to the tryout (ex: driver, 4 iron, 7 iron, 9 iron, pitching wedge).  Coaches are looking to see if golfers are able to make constant contact with the ball.  (TQ Sept. 12)

7/8 Ultimate Frisbee:  Any grade 7/8  boys and girls interested in trying out for the Ultimate team are asked to sign up outside the Caf gym. Try-outs will take place on Tuesday, September 12thWednesday September 13th and Thursday September 14th from 7:30 a.m to 8:30 a.m., weather permitting.  (KS Sept.14)

7/8 Cross-Country Running: Any grade 7 or 8 students interested in coming out for the cross-country running team are invited to sign up outside of Mr. Quinn’s Phys-Ed office on the bulletin board. Practices will start Tuesday, September 12th after school and will run from 3:00pm - 4:00pm. Subsequent practices will be on Sept. 14th, 19th, 20th, 26th and 28th.  Please meet Mme Kinloch in the courtyard behind the school at 3:00pm.  More information will be posted  on the bulletin board outside Mr. Quinn’s office. All grade 7 students are invited to the annual St. Mother Teresa Honk N' Blow on Thursday, September 21st from 6 to 8pm. Come try all the instruments that you may chose to play in your Music class. There is no charge for this event.

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

HS Girls Field Hockey: First week's team practices run Monday, September 11th, Tuesday, September 12th, and Thursday, September 14th from 3-4pm on the football field. See Mme. Pendergest ahead of time, in room 234, if you have a conflict. (CP Sept. 14)

Any grade 9-12 Boys' interested in playing Basketball this season on the school Junior/Senior teams are invited to attend the following open gym sessions on Thursday, September 14th and Thursday, September 21st from 4:30pm - 6:00pm in the wood floor gym - if you have any questions see Mr. Rowley. Cappies: All grade 9-12 students interested in writing high school play reviews for the award winning Cappies' team are asked to attend a brief but important meeting at lunch on Tuesday, September 12th in Rm 138. See Mrs. Simpson if you cannot attend. (JS Sept. 12)

Attention all H.S. students.  The weight room (room 131) is now open from 11:50 to 12:10 everyday. Come on in for a quick workout! (LV Sept.20)

Senior Boys Soccer: Try-outs for the Senior Boys' Soccer team will be held on Tuesday September 12th from 3-4 across the street beside the baseball diamond.  Proper equipment is required.  Please see Mr. Gervasi in room 309 if there are any questions. (MG Sept. 12)


HS Leadership Camp: A reminder to all HS Leadership Camp campers that your second payment of $75 is due by September 12th.  Please pay online or with cash/cheque.  Please see Mrs. Byrne in Student Services if you have any questions. (EB Sept. 12)

High School Schedule Changes: High School students who are looking for a schedule change, must see a Guidance Counsellor in the Atrium at lunch on Tuesday, September 5th or Wednesday, September 6th. Guidance appointments can be requested through my.mths.ca starting Thursday, September 7th. Students must remain in their current classes until a new schedule has been re-assigned. The last day to request a schedule change is Monday, September 11th!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
LF Volunteers: Volunteer opportunity to help out with the Ontario University Provincial Golf Tournament being held in Ottawa this year. It runs Friday-Saturday-Sunday, October 13-15th, 2017 at Loch March Golf Club. Students should have some idea of how golf works and the etiquette that is needed. Ball spotting shifts will run in 4 hour blocks and a full day would get you a bagged lunch and maybe a  t-shirt . The volunteers that are interested will be run through specific roles at an after school meeting with Mr MacDonald the week of Oct 10th.  (TC Oct. 10)
