HS Day 1

WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

If you have signed up to volunteer for Spring into Summer this Sunday, please pick up important info sheet in room 213(SM June 8)

3 down 5 more to go! I'm still looking for 5 more students who have hair that hasn't been bleached, permed or colour to donate 8 inches of hair. Trying to get 8 donations to help make one wig. See me, Ms. Soprovich, in room 202 if you've got hair to spare! (SS June 8)

The city of Ottawa will remove trees in the back field on June 13 & 14.  Students are encouraged to use the bikes racks at the front of the school. (MK June 14)
Students with overdue books and fines are asked to go to the Learning Commons after morning announcements. (MP June 8)

At the end of the day, the expectation for students who are not involved in any extracurricular activities, is that students leave the building and make their way home.  Students who wish to remain after school to watch a school sporting event, are also expected to leave immediately after the game.  Make sure transportation arrangements are made in advance.  In the future, students who are found loitering around the school at the end of the day will formally speak to an administrator. During the lunch period, no High School student is permitted on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the new wing which is the 7/8 classroom areas. (MK)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Red Maple club will be meeting at the start of lunch in the Learning Commons on Monday, June 12th to plan the Red Maple celebration. Please bring your lunch. (NBD June 12)

7 &8 Track and Field Team: All students who qualified for the 7&8 Track and Field Event, please note that we will have 3 practices after school : Monday, June 5th, Wednesday, June 7th, and Monday, June 12th. See you in the Courtyard at 3:00 pm. (KM June 12)

Save the date! The Grade 8 semi-formal will take place June 23rd from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.  Info letters will go home the first week of June. (KS June 10)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

The annual Mother Teresa Athletic Banquet will be held here next Tuesday, June 13th at 6:30 pm. We will be having a banquet dinner, followed by the Athletic Awards. High School athletes can pick up their tickets during lunch on Wednesday, Thursday, or Monday from Mr. Liska at the Tuck Shop. Athletes are reminded to have all their athletic fees, team fees, and uniforms in to their coaches or their tickets will be withheld. (JL June 13)

REACH FOR THE TOP STUDENT-TEACHER SHOWDOWN 
Reach enthusiasts are invited to the Learning Commons on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7 (D-Day +1) during Senior Lunch to watch the teachers, led by Mr. Miller, take on Vector Addiction, the School Reach champions, led by Chris Karpinski.(CH June 7)

Battle of the Bites!  The event you've been waiting for!...Bring your loonies and twonies next Wed June 7th at lunch in the Atrium for the Intro to Bizz - Entrepreneurship Competition.  Purchase your favorite treats.  May the best store win! (SM June 7)

The STUDENT SERVICES WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool, including information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses, Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.

OSAP: Applying to post-secondary? Don't forget to apply to OSAP for bursaries (free $) and loans ($ you pay back).  The new OSAP is more accessible than ever so every student should check out the OSAP calculator to see what $ you qualify for! Also can you add this to the School News and Announcements on our website? Driver Education Program Summer 2017.  Registration forms are now available in Student Services. Register on-line at conted.ocsb.ca, by fax 613-224-9253, by mail or in person at the Ottawa Catholic School Board, 570 West Hunt Club Road, Nepean.  ​(KW)

Summer School Registration forms from the Ottawa Catholic School Board are now available in Student Services. Registration period is from May 1 to June 28.   Final registration date is Wednesday, June 28, from 9am to 1pm at St. Nicholas Adult High School (West Campus) 893 Admiral Avenue. Forms must be completed/signed by student and parent and then approved by a Student Services counsellor.   Summer school locations are Holy Trinity HS, Immaculata HS, St. Pius X HS and L.B. Pearson HS.  L.B. Pearson has online courses only. (KW)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Community Service Opportunity. Senior Citizen living in our area is looking to have someone mow their lawn.  She is also willing to pay if necessary.  Please call Linda at 613 440-4142.  Thank you. (KW June 29)

Heart and Stroke Foundation looking for volunteers this weekend! Please email genesis.lecompte@heartandstroke.ca  for more info or to be placed on a volunteer assignment. We will cater to whatever hours you can commit to! We thank you!!!
Friday June 9th : 10a.m to 1pm: 5 volunteers (Need muscle to help with set up)  2pm– 6pm: 5 volunteers (Registration)
Saturday June 10th : 6:30 am – 2:30 p.m: 14 volunteers for the bike course (Need to be over 16 yrs old  and have a cell phone)  Should bring a chair and a cooler bag with food/drink to get through.
8:00 am – 2:00 p.m: 11 volunteers for the run course (should also bring a cooler bag.)
Heart and Stroke Tshirts will be provided.

LF Volunteers  for the Hydro Ottawa’s 2017 United Way Family Fun Day! (KW June 16)
When: June 17, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Four Seasons Park on Spratt Road in Riverside South
While the event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., we’re looking for volunteers who are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help with both the setup and takedown and take part in various activities such as face painting, a bouncy castle, a petting zoo and more. Alternatively, you may choose to volunteer for a half-day.
