ANNOUNCEMENTS
MT EARTH HOUR 2017:
MT staff and students will be participating in a FUN HOUR WITHOUT POWER during last
block on Friday, April 21st. The school will power down except
for essential (bathroom etc) and emergency lighting. We will take time to
reflect on the importance of power in our lives and conserving energy.
All classes have been invited to participate in a student lead, fun activity
that involves NO POWER. Happy MT Earth Hour. (HL Apr 21)
Multicultural
Show: Any students (Grade 7 to 12) interested in
participating in this year's Multicultural Show on Wednesday May 24th are asked to sign up for auditions outside the dance
room. Individuals and group acts are welcome to audition during HS lunch and
after school on Monday May 1 and Wednesday May 3, 2017. (AB May 3)
At the end of the
day, the expectation for students who are not involved
in any extracurricular activities, is that students leave the building and make
their way home. Students who wish to remain after school to watch a
school sporting event, are also expected to leave immediately after the
game. Make sure transportation arrangements are made in advance. In
the future, students who are found loitering around the school at the end of
the day will formally speak to an administrator. (MK)
During the lunch period, no High School student
is permitted on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the new wing which is the 7/8
classroom areas. (MK)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Red Maple Voting Day is on Friday, April 21st. If you have read at least 5 of the current Red Maple fiction and/or nonfiction books, you are eligible to vote in Friday's Red Maple Election. Come to the Learning Commons Friday at lunch for our regular scheduled meeting and vote. If you cannot make the meeting, please see Mrs. Bell-Dagenais in the Learning Commons before Wednesday, April 26. (NBD Apr 21)
7/8 Boys touch
football tryouts will be April 24th and
April 25th at 3:10 pm. Be prepared for both an indoor and an outdoor
tryout. Don't be late! (KB – Apr 25)
Every Wednesday in
April is WASTE FREE LUNCH DAY. For a chance to win a
prize....if you have a waste free lunch, find the waste free lunch police
at the table near the vending machines before you eat. Look for posters with

Attention all cast, choir, dancers and crew of "You're a
Good Man, Charlie Brown". There
will be a run through practice on Saturday April 22nd from 9:00am-1:00pm.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Costa Rica 2018: All students interested in going on the Costa Rica experience of
a lifetime Feb. 2018 please come to an information session at 11:30 am on Friday, April 28th in room 131 (the new fitness
room). This trip is for you if you enjoy adventure and the
outdoors. Please see Mrs. Ragaisis if you have any questions. (SR Apr 28)
H.S. Lacrosse:
The game scheduled for Monday vs.
St.F.X. has been postponed. The team will practice after school instead of the

Marine
biology excursion September 13-17th, 2017: Students enrolled in grade 11 or 12 biology are eligible to participate
in a marine biology trip at the Huntsman Marine Science Center in St.
Andrew's, New Brunswick. If you are interested and would like further

HS Swim Team: Our end of year luncheon will be Friday, April 28th in room 310! Please see Mr. Côté for any dietary needs

Girls Varsity
Soccer: There will be a tryout Monday, April 24th after school
for any girls interested in playing on the girls varsity soccer team. Please
come prepared to play in the gym as well as outdoors. (CN Apr 24)
Girls Touch Football: Any High
School girls interested in trying out for touch football are asked to sign up
outside of room 110. Training sessions are going to run from 3:00-4:30 on the following dates--Thursday, April 13 (Wood Floor Gym), Tuesday, April 18 (Caf Gym) and Friday,

New York City Trip: Those high
school students going on the New
York City trip in May are
asked to attend a mandatory and very important meeting at lunch on Wednesday, April 26th 2017 in Room 136. (MR 26 Apr)

The Irish Experience Summer Programs in Ireland. 27 days in
duration and offers 110 hours of instructional time to fulfill requirements of
the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum requirements. Grade 11 English
(ENG3U),Grade 12 English (ENG4U),Grade 12 English (ENG4C) Grade 12 Studies in

Volunteers needed for the Nepean
Eagles Football Club. LF
cheerleading coaches to teach cheers and half-time dance routines to junior and
senior squads. Spring Camp is May 23, 24, 25th. Cheerleaders
practice twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) at Bob Stephen Park in

The Ottawa Dog Rescue is looking for
volunteers for the month of April, May, and June. If you are a high school, university or any student who still needs
to log in volunteer hours, we have a challenge for you!!!! ODR has
partnered with Pet Valu Beechwood in an attempt to reach a fundraising goal for
April. If you would like to help us raise some much needed funds, we have
several ideas that are easily tackled by students and we will sign off on

Here
are some of the things you might be asked to do:
- Games and crafts: Supervise the
children’s area and help them make crafts and play games
- Greet visitors: Put on a big smile
and welcome the visitors to the Mill.
- Answer questions: Walk around the event and be
prepared to answer any questions visitors might have.
- Set up and take down: Help set up
tables, arrange the tent, get it ready for the meal.
- Serve food & clearing tables:
Help serve a delicious meal to our visitors and clear tables for the next
round.
- Serve cake to those who did not
purchase tickets to the meal.
- Decorations: Let your artistic side
show and help decorate the tent and the Square

Christie Lake Kids Camp is looking to hire staff for this summer. This is a
summer volunteer position. The position is open to youth aged 15-17.
Students receive extensive training to work with at-risk children and youth in
a residential environment while earning first aid and swimming certifications,
650 volunteer hours are also awarded for each summer of work. Please see
