WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

At the end of the day, the expectation for students who are not involved in any extracurricular activities, is that students leave the building and make their way home.  Students who wish to remain after school to watch a school sporting event, are also expected to leave immediately after the game.  Make sure transportation arrangements are made in advance.  In the future, students who are found loitering around the school at the end of the day will formally speak to an administrator. Please check the items in the lost and found display from Monday to Friday (Mar 6 - 10). Items will be donated to charity on Friday after school. (SS March 10)

From Thursday March 2nd until Friday March 10th yearbooks will be on sale in the Atrium at lunch. We normally sell 700 books and this year 500 have been ordered. Everyone who normally orders a yearbook come down and check to see if you are on the list. There will be no extras in June. (AP March 10)

This is an invitation for any student (grade 7-12) or staff member interested in taking part in a social justice lenten project.  We will meet in the chapel from 3-4pm on Tuesday, February 28th to discuss Share Lent 2017 (a Development and Peace initiative). (HL/Dr Joe)

During the lunch period, no High School student is permitted on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the new wing which is the 7/8 classroom areas. (MK)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

A vocal rehearsal for all principal characters and choir will take place after school on Tuesday, March 7th in the music room, 3-4.  Please bring your scripts and song books.  See Mrs De Pippo if you have any questions. (JD March 7)

Grade 7/8 students interested in participating on the MT Math Olympics Team are invited to meet in room 240 Tuesday at the beginning of lunch for our first practice.  Practices will be held Tuesday at lunch and Wednesday after school. The Olympics are scheduled for March 8th.  (HL)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) is Thursday, March 30 2017, which is a graduation requirement for all students working towards a secondary school diploma.   All students in Ontario will be writing in paper booklets this March.  Test preparation will be held for all grade 10 students, as well as for students in grade 11 and 12 who will be writing the test on March 27-29 during their period 3 class.  Practice tests and more information can be found at http://www.eqao.com/en/assessments/OSSLT/students.  Please see Mrs. Brady in room 201 if you have any questions. Intramural Fustal Team sign-ups will take place from February 28th-March 7th. Interested students can see Mr. Baird and the Rec Leadership students during High School lunch outside the cafeteria by the Phys. Ed. offices. We are looking for a minimum of 8 teams, consisting of 5-8 players. Cost is $5.00 per team. (RB March 7)

Grade 12 students & parents: It is a very busy time for grade 12's. There are a number of you that have yet to sign up for the REMIND texts. This is a key tool for us sharing information. If you are not receiving these texts, you are missing important information including Graduation Info, Grad tickets, scholarship info, Prom details, etc.

Registration forms for the Winter 2017 Night School Program with the public board are now available in Student
Services.  Once you have completed your form and have signatures from your counsellor and parent along with your student status sheet, you must register in person at 440 Albert Street from Monday, January 23rd to Thursday, February 16th.   The registration office is open from January 23rd to Thursday, February 16th from 9 am to 4 pm.  The office will close at 6pm on Jan 26th/Feb 2nd/Feb 9th and 7:30 on Feb 16th.  The Winter session runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 9:51pm.  First night is Tuesday, February 21st and last night is Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Woodroffe HS (2410 Georgina Drive)

The Milk Bags 4 Haiti Club meets on Wednesdays at senior lunch time in the career centre. We are in need of specific milk bags to continue our mats project. The Irish Experience Summer Programs in Ireland.  27 days in duration and offers 110 hours of instructional time to fulfill requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum requirements. Christie Lake Kids Camp is looking to hire staff for this summer.  This is a summer volunteer position. The position is open to youth aged 15-17.  Students receive extensive training to work with at-risk children and youth in a residential environment while earning first aid and swimming certifications, 650 volunteer hours are also awarded for each summer of work.  Please see the Student Services Bulletin Board in the atrium for more information and application.

This Friday the 3rd March there will be the Grad group shot for the yearbook. It will be at 11.10 in the wood floor gym. Grads will be called down from class. Grads make sure to wear your MT sweaters. (AP March 3)

University of Ottawa Open House, Saturday March 18 from 9:00am - 4:00pm
Through faculty presentations, an information fair and campus tours, students will be able to: discover their future campus (classrooms, residences and sports facilities), meet experts and get answers to their questions, speak with current uOttawa students . (JH March 17)
