is permitted on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the new wing which is the 7/8

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
MT's annual Read-A-Thon is this Thursday. There
are still a few spots available, however, it is first come, first serve. Space
is limited, so the sooner you return your pledge sheet and money to the
Learning Commons, the more likely you are to get a spot. If there are still
spots remaining, forms will be accepted before homeroom on Thursday.

"Cabane a
Sucre" (Sugar Shack) Excursion - Core Grade 7 & 8 students are invited to attend an all-day visit to a Sugar
Shack on March 24th, 2017. The day will include viewing artifacts in the
museum, touring the sugar bush, participating in a geocaching activity,
savouring taffy-on-the-snow and enjoying a traditional pancake breakfast. Cost
of this excursion is $10.00 and payable on SchoolCashOnline. Permission
forms and payment are due by February 28th, 2017. Questions? See Mme Pendergest in room

7&8 Swim Team Try-outs -
Those interested in joining the 7&8 swim team are asked to sign up on a list outside Mme
Pendergest's room (234). Try-outs will be on held on February
27th and March 2nd from 3:00-4:00
pm at Minto Recreation Complex (3500
Cambrian Rd). Please see Mme Pendergest for a permission form, as try-outs are
held off school property. (CP March 2)
CHESS CLUB – 7/8
students who wish to play chess at lunch and
compete for a spot at the board chess tournament are asked to include their
names on the sign-up sheet outside of Room 231. Interested students will
meet every Tuesday and Thursday at lunch in Rm. 231, beginning on
February 21st. All skill levels are welcome! (MM Feb. 21)

7/8 Boys Hockey: All
7/8 boys trying out for the 7/8 hockey team are reminded to check their student
emails for information on tryouts and other required information. Please see Mr

Grade 7/8 students interested in participating on
the MT Math Olympics Team are invited to meet in room 240 Tuesday at the beginning of lunch for our first
practice. Practices will be held Tuesday at lunch and Wednesday after school. The Olympics are scheduled for March

STUDENT SERVICES
The STUDENT SERVICES WEBSITE at ss.mths.ca is set up as an information tool,
including information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities, Courses,
Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.
Grade 12 students & parents: It is a very busy time for grade
12's. There are a number of you that have yet to sign up for the REMIND texts.
This is a key tool for us sharing information. If you are not receiving these
texts, you are missing important information including Graduation Info, Grad
tickets, scholarship info, Prom details, etc.

You will receive a welcome text, there is no need to sign up for the App. If

LF tutor (Science and English, a little French too) 2X a week. Student

It's here! The Winter 2017 Driver
Education Program Registration Form is now available in Student Services. Students may
register online at conted.ocsb.ca or by
mailing/faxing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing Education
Department (570 West Hunt Club Road). Registration runs until February
22nd. Classes start on March 1st at Mother Teresa High
School if enough students register. (KW Feb. 22)
Registration forms for the Winter 2017 Night School
Program with the public board are now
available in Student
Services. Once you have completed your form
and have signatures from your counsellor and parent along with your student
status sheet, you must register in person at 440 Albert Street
from Monday, January 23rd to Thursday, February 16th. The
registration office is open from January 23rd to Thursday, February
16th from 9 am to 4 pm. The office will close
at 6pm on Jan 26th/Feb 2nd/Feb
9th and 7:30 on Feb 16th. The Winter session
runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to
9:51pm. First night is Tuesday, February 21st and last night
is Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Woodroffe HS (2410 Georgina Drive)
LF a french tutor for a Grade 5 immersion student who attends Msgr
Paul Baxter School, to tutor twice a week. Tutor for community service

The Milk Bags 4 Haiti Club meets on Wednesdays at senior lunch
time in the career centre. We are in need of specific milk bags to
continue our mats project. If you have any of the following milk bags at home
that you are willing to part with, please send them to school to the attention
of Mrs. Watkinson. Thank you.

The Irish Experience Summer Programs in Ireland. 27 days in
duration and offers 110 hours of instructional time to fulfill requirements of
the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum requirements. Grade 11 English

OPPORTUNITIES
Community Service Hours with Nepean Ringette Association: Thursday, March
9th to Sunday March 12th at the Nepean Sportsplex and Walter Baker Sports
Centre during their AA Provincial Champions tournament weekend. If

Christie Lake Kids Camp is looking to hire staff for this summer. This is a
summer volunteer position. The position is open to youth aged 15-17.
Students receive extensive training to work with at-risk children and youth in
a residential environment while earning first aid and swimming certifications,
650 volunteer hours are also awarded for each summer of work. Please see
the Student Services Bulletin Board in the atrium for more information and
application.

City of Ottawa LF volunteers: looking for Volunteers ages 16+ to
assist in our March Break Camps! Students will have the opportunity to
volunteer from 15-40 hours over the 5 days. If you have any students that are
looking to volunteer and complete some of their community service hours, please
have them contact me through email (Deanna.phillips@ottawa.ca) with their resume
