Art Opportunity: Anyone
interested in creating artwork inspired by the Catholic Graduate Expectations
to help beautify a school board training centre, is asked to come to a meeting
on Wednesday,
February 15th at lunch in
room 102. You can earn volunteer
hours while creating art! (CR Feb. 15)
During the lunch period, no High School student is permitted on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the
new wing which is the 7/8 classroom areas. (MK)
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
7/8 Boys Hockey: All
7/8 boys trying out for the 7/8 hockey team are reminded to check their student
emails for information on tryouts and other required information. Please see Mr
Connor in room 333 for any questions or concerns. (BC Feb 23)
Lego Challenge Club: A new lunch club is
starting soon! The Lego Challenge Club will meet Wednesdays at
lunch in the Learning Commons. Any grade 7 or 8 interested in joining
this club can sign up
in the Learning Commons before/after school and/or at lunch. The first meeting
is this Wednesday at the start of lunch (please bring

7/8 Badminton: Grade
7/8 badminton practices this week are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday after school in the caf gym. (JK Feb. 17)
Grade 7/8 students interested in participating on
the MT Math Olympics Team are invited
to meet in room 240 Tuesday at the beginning of
lunch for our first practice. Practices will be held Tuesday at lunch and Wednesday after school. The Olympics are scheduled for March
8th. (HL)
The first read through of "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown"
will take place after school on Wednesday,
February 15th from 3-4 on the stage. All principal characters
are asked to attend. All choir members and dancers will be invited to a second read through the follow week. Date and time

7/8 Girls
Basketball: The 7/8 girls basketball tryouts will take place February 13th,
14th and 15th at 3pm. Any girls
interested in trying out please sign up outside room 332. (SM Feb. 15)
HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
MTHS After School Literacy Test Preparation Class begins
today, February
14th and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday 3 pm- 4:30 in
room 313 or students preparing to write the OSSLT on March 30, 2017. All permission forms must be handed in to Student

Theatre Mentorship Program: An information meeting about this year's Theatre Mentorship
Program will be held in Rm. 102 (Art Room) during lunch on Thursday, February 16th.
All students in Grades 10-12 who are looking to volunteer, and who have
previous theatre or backstage experience are encourage to attend! Please

HS Futsal: There will be
a tryout Wednesday, February15th after school for any high school girls
interested in trying out for the girls high school Futsal Team. (CN Feb. 15)

Euclid Math Contest: All
grade 11 and 12 students interested in writing the
Euclid Waterloo Math Contest are invited to the preparation sessions on all Thursdays until early April. These
preparation sessions are in room 322 during high school lunch. Please
bring your lunch and come up at the beginning of the lunch period. Full
information about contest dates and times will be provided. (NR Feb. 17)
Perfect Pitch Business Competition - This
year, Project FLY (Ottawa U) is organizing the Perfect Pitch
competition (Fri March 24th) -- the largest high school
student entrepreneurship competition in Ontario, to gather students from across
Ontario who are interested in learning more about the exciting opportunities in
entrepreneurship and business. Students will also spend the day after the event
attending Canada’s largest post-secondary entrepreneurship conference, the Legacy
Conference (Sat March 25th),
featuring the Cora from Cora’s as one of our keynote speakers (for free too!).

information tool, including information about: Community Service Hours Opportunities,
Courses, Careers, Graduation, Scholarships, etc.

here! The Winter 2017 Driver Education Program Registration Form is now
available in Student Services. Students may register online at conted.ocsb.ca or
by mailing/faxing/dropping off the registration form to the Continuing
Education Department (570 West Hunt Club Road). Registration runs until February 22nd. Classes start
on March 1st at Mother Teresa High School if enough students register. (KW Feb. 22)
Registration forms for the Winter 2017 Night School Program
with the public board are now
available in Student
Services. Once you have completed your form and have
signatures from your counsellor and parent along with your student status
sheet, you must register in
person at 440 Albert Street from Monday, January 23rd to Thursday, February 16th.
The registration office is open from January 23rd to Thursday,
February 16th from 9 am to 4 pm.
The office will close at 6pm on Jan 26th/Feb 2nd/Feb
9th and 7:30 on Feb 16th. The Winter session runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
from 6pm to
9:51pm. First night is Tuesday, February 21st and last night is Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Woodroffe HS (2410 Georgina Drive)
Looking for a french tutor, one day a week, (community
service hours opportunity, could lead to a paying job) for a grade 2 student
attending Msgr Paul Baxter school. Family lives close to the school.

Christie Lake Kids Camp is
looking to hire staff for this summer. This is a summer volunteer position. The
position is open to youth aged 15-17. Students receive extensive training
to work with at-risk children and youth in a residential environment while
earning first aid and swimming certifications, 650 volunteer hours are also awarded
for each summer of work. Please see the Student Services Bulletin Board
in the atrium for more information and application.
