WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Ski/Snowboard Club 2016 will run each Wednesday evening in February. Information Package and Application Form is available in the main office. Applications and payment are due on or before Tuesday, January 12th to room 213. Space may be limited. (SM Jan. 12)

Alpine Ski Team: Please be at school this Friday January 8 at or before 7 am to catch the bus to Mont Cascades. Don't be late! Our dry land practice this week will be Thursday January 7 after school in the weight room. All fees and permission forms must be handed in by Thursday to Mrs. Brady. (AB Feb. 18)

Homeroom Challenge:  Help the homeless with a “Clean” Start to the New Year.  Join us for the Shepherds of Good Hope Toiletries Collection. Over 6500 people in Ottawa experienced homelessness in 2014.  Almost 1000 16-25 years used a shelter in 2014.  Help those in need and bring the following items to your homeroom: Shampoo, Soap, Toothpaste, Lotion, Toilet paper, Kleenex, Deodorant, New Socks, New Underwear.  The homeroom with the most collected (by weight) by Friday, January 15th will win a Pizza Party! Update to Allerject Voluntary Recall Replacement Procedures: Important Allerject Information: Following the October 28, 2015 voluntary recall by Sanofi Canada of all lots of Allerject epinephrine auto-injectors and the announcement earlier this month that the stock of alternative epinephrine auto-injectors is now sufficient to replace all Allerject devices in Canada, we remind you of the following:
  • Immediately return all Allerject devices to your local pharmacy.
  • All Allerject epinephrine auto-injectors returned by patients to their pharmacist with an expiry date between October 2015 and December 2016 inclusively continue to be eligible for replacement at no cost to the patient.
  • Please provide the school with a replacement (if you haven’t already done so). (MC Jan. 18)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Please dress warmly everyday for outside recess. Unless told otherwise, everyone will be outside for the last 20 minutes of lunch. (MR Feb. 1)

Are you someone who likes a challenge?  Doing puzzles?  Solving problems?  Consider coming out and representing MT in the Annual OCSB Math Olympics!  Come by room 237 on Tuesday January 12 at lunch to try some sample tasks.  Math Olympics will take place on Tuesday January 26th.  Please see Mrs Chiasson or Mrs De Pippo if you have any questions.  (JD Jan. 12)

Reminder for Grade 8 After School Literacy: Our last class will be this Thursday, January 7th at the usual time and place. This is the make-up session we discussed, so please remind your parents and make any necessary arrangements. (AC Jan.7)

7-8 School Play: This year's school play is called Diary of a Wallflower. I'm looking for dedicated students who either have dramatic experience already or are interested in theatre. If you have signed up outside room 332, please come to a meeting at LUNCH on Wednesday, January 6th in room 332 for a copy of the audition script. (JB Jan. 13)

Final Grade 7 and 8 Boy's Floorball Tryout on Wednesday Jan. 6th at 3 pm in the Cafeteria gym. (GR Jan. 6)

7&8 Badminton - Those interested in joining the 7&8 Badminton team are encouraged to sign-up outside of room 234 (Mlle Pendergest's room). Athletes MUST be available for the West Tournament on February 22nd, 2015GIRLS try-outs will take place Tuesday January 12thfrom 3-4pm in the Caf Gym. BOYS try-outs will take place Wednesday January 13th from 3-4pm in the Caf Gym. IMPORTANT: A first cut will be made after each first try-out and those who make the cut will be invited to a second co-ed try-out Thursday January 14th from 3-4pm in the Caf. Gym. A list of these athletes will be posted outside of room 234. Check often. (CP Jan. 12)

Envirothon Competition - any students in grade 9 - 12 interested in competing in this year's regional envirothon competition or just wanting to more about it, please attend an information meeting Friday Jan. 8th at lunch in room 202. Bring your lunch. Any student taking the energy SHSM should attend. (SS Jan. 8)

A reminder to all members of the H.S. Girls' Hockey Team to bring their jerseys back ASAP to Mr. Gervasi in room 309 or Mr. Whitten in room 130. Thanks! (MG Jan. 21)

Cast party for Peter Pan is this Sunday, January 10th at 6pm at Kelsey's in Barrhaven. Please let Mrs. Rose or Ms. Laviolette know if are able to attend. (MR Jan. 8)

Writing Contest - Calling all poets and short story writers!  Carleton University's English Department is sponsoring a poetry and short fiction competition.  This year's theme is "Encounters with Technology".  First and second place finishers will have their work published.  As well, winners will receive cash prizes.  Register online.  Due date: February 19. (JS Feb. 19)
