7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

7/8 BOYS VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS: Sign-Up at PE offices.  Dates: Wednesday October 6th & Thursday October 7th.  Time: 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM.  Coach: Mrs. Frias.  (TF –Oct 7)

REACH FOR THE TOP STARTS UP! Any Grade 7 or 8 student is invited to come to Room 235 at the beginning of 7/8 Lunch on Thursday, October 7th to play a game of Reach For the Top! Bring your lunch and be ready to PLAY!! (TC –Oct 7)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

clip_image006Just a reminder to the new high school students who SIGNED UP for pizza to meet in the Career Centre beside Student Services at lunch on Thursday, Oct 7th. This will be a great opportunity to get more information about the school, get questions answered or meet some other new people. (TC –Oct 7)

clip_image008HIGH SCHOOL SWIM TEAM:  All interested swimmers are asked to come to a MANDATORY meeting at 11:30 on Thursday Oct 7 in room 202.  It is very important that you attend.  If you are unable to attend please see Mrs. Sinclair as soon as possible.  Practices begin next week. (JS –Oct 7)

clip_image010BLOOD DONOR CLINIC AT SCOTIABANK PLACE ON OCTOBER 18TH: Please see Mrs McLaughlin in room 130 if you are interested in giving blood at this clinic sponsored by the Ottawa Senators.  You must be a minimum of 17 years old and a minimum of 50kg/110lbs.  Participants will be shuttled to and from Scotiabank Place. clip_image014HOCKEY TOURNAMENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The NMHA is looking for student volunteers who need community service hours to help with a Hockey Tournament running over Thanksgiving weekend at Walter Baker Sports Centre, October 8th to 11th.  If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to krussel@magma.ca.  (KW –Oct 7)

clip_image016FRENCH TUTOR NEEDED: Looking for a french tutor for a boy in Grade 3 attending Berrigan French Immersion Program.  If you are interested in helping out for a couple of hours/week after school and preferably at the home located on Beatrice Drive, please contact Mike Razi at 613 864-8341 or mrazi@storm.ca. clip_image020CARLETON UNIVERSITY DAY – FRIDAY OCT. 8: Carleton opens their doors to high school students.  A great opportunity for grade 12 students to visit Carleton University, speak to Profs and to sit in classes of programs you may be considering. UNIVERSITY VISITS:  Wed Oct 6 - Ottawa University, period 4 in the multi-purpose room. Thursday Oct 7 - Carleton University, period 2 in the multi-purpose room. Thursday Oct 7 - Brock University at lunch in the atrium. (JH –Oct 7)

MCGILL UNIVERSITY OPEN HOUSE: McGill University will be hosting its annual Open House for prospective students and their families on Sunday, October 24, 2010. Visit www.mcgill.ca/openhouse for more details. (JH –Oct 7)

clip_image022SCHOLARSHIPS: Graduating students! Don't forget to check out the Scholarships under Student Services found on the MTHS.ca website under departments. Scholarships are starting to come in and all information will be posted here. The Scholarships highlighted in blue have been update for this year and as other scholarships arrive at the school, they will be updated as well. (TC –Oct 7)

PROM COMMITTEE:  The prom committee will be meeting on Thursday Oct 7th in room 202 at lunch. All grade 12's are welcome.  We will be voting on this year’s theme and looking for co-chairs of the prom committee. If for some reason you can't make to the meeting please see Mrs. Zivkovic or Miss. CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY DAY: A bus will be leaving Mother Teresa on Friday October 8th, at 7:45 am for those staff needing a ride to the Civic Centre for Christian Community Day. The bus will leave to return to the school at 1:15 pm.  (SD –Oct 7)

STAFF MEETING:  A reminder of our regular staff meeting that will be held Tuesday, October 12th, from 3-4pm.  HS teachers will meet in the library, while Grade 7&8 teachers will be meeting in Room 212. (NM –Oct 12)

CANADA SAVINGS BONDS: Information on this year’s payroll savings campaign, can be found in the staff room. Check out the poster, or pick up a pamphlet for more information. (SD –Oct 14)

UNITED WAY AUCTION: Our auction for United Way will be taking place on Friday October 15th, starting at 3 pm.  Donations of auction items are welcome. Come out, have some fun, and support this very worthy cause. (SD –Oct 15)
