clip_image004ATTENTION MILITARY PARENTS & RELATIVES OF STUDENTS AT MOTHER TERESA: Any student who has a parent(s) or relative serving in the Canadian Armed Forces (army, air force or navy), police officer,  or RCMP is asked to invite their parent(s)/relative to our Remembrance Day Service on Thursday November 11th.  There will be two services, one at 9:00 am for students in grades 7, 8 and 9 and a second service at approximately 10:20 am for students in grade 10, 11 and 12.  All guests are invited to a reception in the school library following the second service. You are asked to arrive in uniform and to sit in the reserved seats at the front of the auditorium. clip_image006REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE -CADETS AT MOTHER TERESA: We are looking for students at MT who are involved in army, air or sea cadets to be a part of our service.  You'll be asked to wear your uniform and to assist with carrying a flag, marching, etc.  Please see Mme Milliard in Room 315.  Your presence is essential and most appreciated with this very important day. TITANS 7/8 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL! There is a practice on Monday until 4:30 pm.  Get geared up on Wednesday, as we travel to Notre Dame High School for our third game of the season.  Then stay on your toes as on Thursday we meet St Joseph’s on home turf! (EM –Oct 25)

PAPER OR PLASTIC?  Attention Grade 7 & 8 Students: The cast list for our production Paper or Plastic? has been posted outside Mr. Stuart's classroom (room 232). Thanks to all who auditioned! All cast members are required to attend the first rehearsal on Tuesday, October 26th 3 - 4 PM on the stage. (AJ –Oct 26)

clip_image010ACTS: Acts is a new justice and faith program for grades 7 & 8 students.  ACTS is meeting on TUESDAY OCT 26 at the beginning of lunch in the chapel.  Please bring your lunch with you.  We will begin by looking at the issue of child soldiers in the world. (MD –Oct 26)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

MADD PRESENTATION FOR GRADE 10 & 11 HOMEROOMS: A reminder to all grade 10 and 11 homeroom teachers that the MADD Presentation will be taking place today, Monday October 25th, in the cafeteria. The presentation will start at 9:00am and will take approximately 60 minutes. Homerooms will be called down after announcements. There will be no formal seating plan; however, classes are asked to sit together. (MK –Oct 25)

*NEW*  HIGH SCHOOL MANGA CLUB:  High school students interested in joining a Manga Club are asked to come to Rm 138 at lunch on Tuesday, October 26. (JS –Oct 26)

clip_image020MONT SAINTE ANNE AND LE MASSIF SKI TRIP: The Mother Teresa Ski Club presents 2 great hills for one exciting weekend.  As an added bonus Saturday night will be spent in Quebec City at the world famous Carnival. Forms are available from Mr. Nearing (Rm.111), Mr. Linke (Rm. 119, during the morning) and Mrs. Brady (Rm. 201). Avoid disappointment and get your form now.  Forms are due Oct. 29th. (KN –Oct 28)

LOOKING FOR A FUN VOLUNTEER HOUR OPPORTUNITY? Here is a great one. It's cleaning up the home of our urban turtles. Saturday, October 30th at 10:30 am - help the environment and enjoy community action. It's the FALL CLEANUP THE CAPITAL road and wetlands on Lester Road between the Airport Parkway and Albion Road in Ottawa South.  This area is the home to four of Ontario's eight turtle species.  For any questions, please call Cheryl Doran at 613 290-9968.  Pick up more information from Student Services. ·          GR. 5 MATH TUTOR NEEDED: Looking for a tutor for a grade 5 student for math to meet at the public library beside Walter Bakker Centre on Sundays for 1 hour each week, $10/hour. Please see Ms Coyle in Student services for more information. (TC –Oct 27)

HOUSE OF COMMONS PAGE PROGRAM: Are you interested in being a Page in the House of Commons?  Information is available on the Parliament of Canada Web Site and applications must be submitted online at www.parl.gc.ca/hocpage.  High School students who maintain an average of 80% and who are fluent in English and French are invited to apply.  To be eligible, students must also be accepted at a university in the National Capital Region.  Those chosen as Pages will be contracted to work for a period of one year, beginning late August 2011.  Please note that the deadline for applications this year is Friday, January 7, 2011.  For further information, please contact the House of Commons Page Program (Recruitment), Human Resources, Corporate Planning and Communications Services at (613) 996-0897. ALGONQUIN COLLEGE – TRANSITION PROGRAM FALL 2010: Do you have issues with anxiety, depression/mood disorder, social phobia, post-traumatic stress, or schizophrenia? Are you in Grade 11 or 12? If so, then plan to attend the one day Transition Planning Workshop on Wednesday, November 24th, 2010.  The Centre for Students with Disabilities at Algonquin College is hosting a free one day transition planning workshop to assist students with mental disabilities prepare for post secondary.  For more information or to register, please check the website: www.algonquincollege.com/csd/dare. In July, live with a French Family and in August host a French Student. GRADUATING STUDENTS – POLICIES AND DEADLINES:  In the past, it has been the practice of some graduating students to leave their Community Service Hours to the last month of school, thereby jeopardizing their graduation in June.  As a result, the following policies are now in place at Mother Teresa: 

·          PROM: All graduating students must have completed their 40 hours of community service if they intend to attend their graduation dance.  The earlier the better! Hours must be submitted to Student Services by May 13th, 2011.

  • GRADUATION: In order to attend the Graduation Ceremony, students must have the 40 hours of community service completed by Friday June 10, 2011.

ALGONQUIN COLLEGE OPEN HOUSE: Are you considering college next year? Algonquin College is hosting its Open House the morning of Thursday, November 4th. Transportation will be provided.  If interested in attending, please sign-up in Student Services by Friday, October 29th and return your signed permission form by Wednesday, November 3rd. clip_image032 GRAD PHOTOS ARE COMING!  Monday, November 1st - Friday, November 5, 2010 in the Library Seminar Room.  **NEW THIS YEAR - You need to sign up for your appointment at www.bookmygrad.ca.  Sign up now to get the appointment that works for you.  You will need the three-letter school code located on your information pamphlet to sign up which is available in Student Services.  Info on sitting and cost fees are included on this pamphlet.  Dress code for gentlemen:  dress shirt and tie, ladies: white collared blouse or tank top for a bare neck look.  You will need casual clothes and props for contemporary poses.  You will need to hand in your sitting fee to the photographer at the time of your photos.  For more information, check out www.edgeimaging.ca.  Edge Imaging can also be contacted at

·          ATTENTION ALL GRADS NOT ORDERING PHOTOS: If you only want to have a yearbook photo taken and not order a Grad Photo Package, you do not have to book an appointment with the Company Edge Imaging.  There is no cost involved with a yearbook photo.  See Mrs. Watkinson in Student Services the Week of November 1st to find out what times are available to drop by the Library Seminar Room.  (KW –Nov 4)
