BBQ SCHEDULE:
Morning classes for HS and 7/8 proceed as usual. Dismissal for lunch is:
11:25 - grade 10 & 12
11:40 - grade 9 & 11
12:00 - grade 8
12:10 - grade 7
The BBQ ends at 1:30.

HS AFTERNOON SCHEDULE (shortened periods):
1:30 - 2:15 - period 3
2:20 - 3:05 - period 4

7/8 AFTERNOON SCHEDULE (proceeds as usual):
Students return to period 5 and change to period 6 at the usual time. (CB –Sep 11)

The students will have a permission slip to get out of class. If they do not and you know they are new to our school, then please let them come down during their grade level. (Grade 7s from feeder schools DO NOT count as new students) (TC –Sep 11)

SPIRIT WEEK: The first of the year and it's going to rock! Tuesday is Pajama Day. Wednesday dress up in your favourite Retro gear. On Thursday it's Twin Day - so double your dress up fun. And finally, Friday is amazing. It's Battle of the Grades and BBQ day! Here are your colours – Gr. 12: Black, Gr. 11: White, Gr. 10: Green, Gr. 9: Blue, Gr. 8: Red and Gr. 7: Yellow. (NBD –Sep 11)

GIRLS ONLY: Every Wednesday, come out and try the weight room. Do you know what a bosu is? Can you do a lat pull down? Here's your chance to try out the equipment, get into shape and do it in a testosterone free atmosphere! Bring a friend! As the saying goes - if you don't use it, you loose it! Female teachers welcome as well! (SS –Sep 15)

MILK BAGS: Attention all students: Last year we collected over 5000 milk bags which were cut and crocheted into sleeping mats for children in places like Haiti and Africa. We would like to continue this project this year. So please bring in your used milk bags…that is, the large outside bag which says 1% or 2%, etc. Give them to your homeroom teacher. Teachers, there will be a drop-off box in the staffroom. (BG –Sep 15)

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

JUNIOR BAND: This is a reminder that the first Junior Band Practice will be on Monday Morning at 7:30 a.m. Students who are planning to play clarinet are reminded to bring in $2 for a reed, $2.25 for an alto sax reed and $2.50 for a tenor sax reed. (CA –Sep 11)

7/8 INTRAMURALS: Please sign up for intramural DODGEBALL at the 7/8 Intramural table during lunch. Cost is $2 per team, 7 players per team. (TM –Sep 11)

UPDATED -STRATFORD 2009: All spots for the Stratford trip are now full. Please submit any outstanding money to Mrs. Simpson by the end of the day on September 11. Please attend an after-school session on September 29 (Rm 138). (JS –Sep 11)

GIRLS HOCKEY: A sign - up sheet will be posted at the co-op office (across from room 112). The first try-out will be this Friday from 3:30 - 5:00 at the Walter Baker Arena. (KN –Sep 11)

HIGH SCHOOL TOUCH FOOTBALL INTRAMURALS: Yes MT, they are back! High School Intramurals will begin on Monday September 21st at lunch. The first sport for this year is Outdoor Touch Football. Registration forms are available for pickup on Miss. Kuchma's Phys-Ed Office door (across from the wood floor gym). All registration packages along with the $1.00 fee per player are due back no later than Wednesday September 16th. Money and registration forms must be given directly to Miss. Kuchma. Go, get your team and come sign up! Please note: Free agents are welcome. This means that if you do not have enough people to make up a full team OR you are an individual player, a team can be made up for you. Please stop by the phys-ed office and grab a Free Agent registration form if you are interested. (EK –Sep 16)

OVERSEAS ENRICHMENT TRIP: Any student interested in signing up for the 2010 Overseas Enrichment Trip to Madrid, Costa del Sol, Seville and Portugal please see Ms. Stewart in Rm. 130 for more information by Friday, September 18th. Please note that the dates have been changed slightly (March 27th - April 6th) so Gr 10 students will not miss the literacy test. (NS –Sep 18)

NEW YORK CITY: This is a reminder to students (grades 11 and 12), who wish to go to New York City in May, to return their signed permission forms and their deposit cheques as soon as possible to reserve a spot. If you lost or did not pick up a form, additional permission forms are available outside of room 135. Cheques and forms should be submitted to Mrs. Bell-Dagenais in room 135 by September 25th or risk trip cancellation. (NBD –Sep 18)

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! FOR: Blast off to Kids Wellness. What wouldn’t you give to help raise funds for Children At Risk? On September 19th 2009 Optihealth Wellness Centre, Greco Fitness and Children At Risk are partnering up to run the third annual Blast Off to Kids Wellness Day. This event is not for profit and the primary goal is to focus on kid’s health, safety and fitness. We are looking for volunteers who would enjoy helping us run this fun and educating event. These volunteers would be helping with flyer delivery, set up/ clean up, and running activities during the event. As our appreciation you will receive: Credit, Community Hours Form and Letter of Reference, a T- shirt, and Blast Off to Wellness Lunch & Drink. LOOKING FOR TUTORS: We are looking for students to tutor other students in various subjects. The pay is $8/hour or for Community Service, and takes place after school in the Student Services office.
