WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
URGENT! LOOKING FOR BILLETS: We are looking for families to take in visiting students from the St. Michael's Choir School, May 11-13. This involves taking in 2 or more choir boys, ranging in age from 12 - 18 into your home. More detailed information should be posted in your homeroom. Copies of the detailed information are available in the office. (May 6)
SPIRIT WEEK: Monday is Royalty vs. Commoners day, Tuesday is Supernatural day, Wednesday is All Fools Day, Thursday is EMO day and Friday is Your Culture Day. Also come by the atrium at lunch to participate in our multicultural events. (May 8)
MULTICULTURAL SHOW AND CANNED FOOD DRIVE: On Friday May 8 we will be having our second annual MT Multicultural Show. All students will be invited to attend. We will also have a variety of cultural foods to try. In order get a taste, you must have a ticket. How do you get tickets? Great question!! Bring in non-perishable food items to your homeroom next week. For every 2 items you will get 1 ticket. The more you bring in, the more tickets (and food) you will get. Help support our local food bank while enjoying a taste of the world! (May 8)
MOTHER TERESA 8TH ANNUAL EUROPEAN ENRICHMENT TRIP: Spain - Morocco - Portugal. Together with six other schools in our Board, we will travel to Spain and be immersed in Spanish culture. The tour includes: Madrid, the centre of the Golden Age of Spain, Seville, Andalusi, the meeting point of Spanish and African/Islamic culture, Alhambra in Granada, Costa Del Sol, an excursion to Morocco, and finally, Lisbon, Portugal . The 11 day tour leaves on Monday March 29, 2010 from Ottawa and returns Thursday April 8, 2010. Students currently in grades 8-11 are eligible to apply to participate in this experience. 7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
GRADE 8 STUDENTS: Tickets for a Company of Fools, a Shakespeare parody troupe are now available for purchase by grade 8 students. See Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 for tickets to this unique drama presentation. The show is from 1:45 -- 3:00 on Friday, May 8. Tickets are limited. (May 7)

CAPPIES: Students are reminded to vote on Saturday, May 9 at the Confederation Education Centre, next to the Sportsplex on Woodroffe. Please check the voting schedule for your specific time. (May 8)
HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES are required to see Mr. Liska today to receive training dates for the upcoming weeks for all runners, jumpers, and throwers. Those interested in competing at the National Capital invitational on Thursday, May 7th also must register today with Mr. Liska. (May 4)

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Royal City Soccer Club is looking for summer camp volunteers, CITs and camp counsellors. Locations served are Jockvale P.S. Field (Nepean), A.Y. Jackson S.S. Field (Kanata) and Brewer Park (Ottawa). Pamphlet and applications can be found in Student Services. (May 15)
ART STUDENT NEEDED: A local resident is looking for an art student who could paint "scenes" on his fence. Please contact Aelian Weerasooriya at 613 825-8905. His address is 24 Colindale Avenue off Berrigan. (May 15)
VOLUNTEER HOURS: Farley Mowat Public School is hosting a Family Mayfair on Saturday, May 30 from 10-2pm. Volunteers are needed to work from 8 am to 4 pm at the concession stands, bake sale, ticket sales, BBQ and games for all ages. On Friday evening (6 pm - 8 pm) volunteers are also needed to help set up. Please contact Karla Randell at krandec385@rogers.com for more information or to sign up. (May 28)
VOLUNTEER HOURS AVAILABLE: Come to the Great Barrhaven Ball Hockey Tournament on Saturday, June 6th and help out. Pair up and work as game officials or at the registration desk. SCHOOL LETTER APPLICATIONS: Application forms to apply for the School Letter (32 point award) are available in the Student Services office. The deadline to return your completed application, to the Student Services office, is FRIDAY, MAY 15. (May 8)
THE BLACK CANADIAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND ($5000 BURSARY): Criteria: Black Canadian graduating from an Ottawa high school with a minimum of 75% in top 6 grade 12 courses. Must demonstrate financial need and community involvement. Visit www.bcsf.ca for the application. (May 8)
