WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

April is National Poetry Month and there will be a poetry display in the Learning Commons. We’d like you to be part of the display. Simply drop off a copy of your poem in the Learning Commons and please stop by if you have any questions. (MP April 30)
Ski Club Refunds: All online refunds were done as of Friday, March 7th and should be in accounts by this week. People who paid by cash or cheque can expect their cheques to be ready in main office for pick-up by Monday, March 21st. Please remind your child to pick-up cheques!
A reminder to parents to please not do any pick-ups (or have cars) in the traffic circle between 2:45-3:05pm. We appreciate your understanding to this matter. (MC)
A reminder that the visitor parking spaces at the front of the building are for those visiting our school, they are not intended for students or staff. (MK April 30)

Learning Commons Seminar Room - When not booked by a class, The Learning Commons Seminar Room will be a designated quiet study space.

7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Grade 7 and 8's interested in writing the Waterloo Math Contest in May, are invited to sign up in room 339 on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.  You must sign up in person. Practices for the contest will be held at lunch on Tues, and/ or Thurs in room 339 starting next week.  If you have any questions please see Mrs Lindale in room 339. (HL April 14)

Grade 7/8: the Kinball Team is getting started and we need you!  If you would like to play, please come to a lunch time meeting in the gym on Thursday, April 14th. (KB April 14)

Badminton Signups are still going on for grade seven and eight intramurals!  If you are interested in either double or single play, sign up outside of Mr. Quinn's office. (KB April 15)

HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Any High School students interested in joining the track and field team this year should come to an information/sign up meeting on Wednesday, April 13th 2016 (tomorrow) in Room 136 at lunch (11:30am) (MR April 13)

Members of the Jr. Girls Soccer Team will practice April 14th, April 19th and April 21st.  Please see Mr. Gervasi in room 309 with any questions. (MG April 21)

Shakespeare 400: As most of you know, the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth and death is April 23.  The English Department has BIG plans for April and May.  To kick things off, we invite students to participate in the following activities:
1)  Mural Design submission:  
  • Choose a space in the first floor English/Resource wing
  • Measure the space
  • Provide a detailed ORIGINAL coloured drawing of your mural with a Shakespearean theme.
  • Due:  April 29, 2016 to Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138
2)  Spoken Word Showcase:
  • Write a 1-2 minute spoken word poem on a current theme of interest to high school students (appropriate language, please)
  • Perform the spoken word poem for a small audience
  • Perform the poem again during Education Week (May 6)
Due for first performance:  April 29 with Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 after school. Please drop by Rm 138 if you have questions or need suggestions! (JS April 29)
Girls Softball:  All girls, from grade 9 to 12, interested in playing in the city softball tournament are asked to come to a very important planning meeting on Thursday, April 14th.  The meeting will be in room 301 at the beginning of lunch.  Please see Mrs. Robinson if you are unable to attend the meeting or if you have any questions. Lights, Camera.....Dance! Mother Teresa’s semi-formal Oscar-themed dance is rolling out the red carpet on the evening of Thursday, April 21st. Be sure to vote for the awards nominees on my.mths.ca before April 8th. Tickets will be on sale for $10.00 at High School lunch the week of April 11th -14th. (EB April 14)

Would you like to BE YOUR OWN BOSS? ...start your own summer business?  Applications are currently being accepted for the Government of Ontario - Summer Company Program which provides start-up money to kick-off a new summer business plus advice and mentorship from local business leaders to help get the business up and running. $3000 Grants available...  “Grant” means you don't have to pay it back!!!!! Join the Nepean Eagles Cheerleading Program and be part of a fun and dynamic Cheer Team!
Learn cheers, stunts and dancers to perform at the Nepean Eagles Football games and half-time. Beginner and experienced Cheerleaders are welcome. The Cheer Program is also looking for coaches.

Summer Job and Volunteer Opportunities for students at Waupoos Family Farm.
Come see information sheet in Student Services for job descriptions. Summer volunteer opportunities include assisting with programming, cottage clean-up, laundry, animal care, gardening, weeding, painting, crafts, outdoor games, etc. Mondays to Saturdays available.  Summer volunteers are encouraged to participate one day per week, for 6 to 8 weeks.  Interview and police check required. LF Volunteers for CN Cycle for CHEO: On Sunday, May 1, 2016 we are holding our annual CN Cycle for CHEO, the hospital’s largest pediatric cancer fundraising event which last year raised over $942,000 for CHEO.  Funds raised are used to support lifesaving cancer research and treatment at CHEO.  This fun, non-competitive event offers a wide range of cycling (15K, 35K, 70K) and walking (2K, 5K) routes for people of all ages and abilities.  In order to make this a safe and enjoyable event, we need many volunteers especially Route Assistants!  Please log on to www.cncycle.ca , check out the position descriptions and sign up today!  You will receive an automatic confirmation e-mail when you register on-line, confirming the time and area for
