WHOLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
April is National Poetry
Month and there will be a poetry
display in the Learning Commons. We’d like you to be part of the
display. Simply drop off a copy of your poem in the Learning Commons and
please stop by if you have any questions. (MP April 30)
Ski Club Refunds: All online refunds were done as of Friday, March 7th and should be in accounts by this
week. People who paid by cash or cheque can expect their cheques to be ready in
main office for pick-up by Monday, March 21st. Please remind your child to pick-up cheques!
A reminder to parents to please not do any
pick-ups (or have cars) in the traffic circle between 2:45-3:05pm. We
appreciate your understanding to this matter. (MC)
A reminder that the
visitor parking spaces at the front of the building are for those visiting our
school, they are not intended for students or staff. (MK April 30)
Learning
Commons Seminar Room - When not booked by a
class, The Learning Commons Seminar Room will be a designated quiet study
space.
7/8 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Grade 7 and 8's interested in writing the
Waterloo Math Contest in May, are invited to sign up in room 339 on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. You must sign up in person. Practices for
the contest will be held at lunch on Tues, and/ or Thurs in room 339 starting
next week. If you have any questions please see Mrs Lindale in room 339. (HL April 14)
Grade 7/8: the Kinball Team is
getting started and we need you! If you would like to play, please come
to a lunch time meeting in the gym on Thursday, April 14th. (KB April 14)
Badminton Signups are
still going on for grade seven and eight intramurals! If you are
interested in either double or single play, sign up outside of Mr. Quinn's

School Play: There
will be an important meeting after school on the stage on Tuesday, April 12th
from 3:00-4:15pm. (LL April 12)
Grade 8 Students Interested in Tackle
Football: There will be a
meeting on Monday, April 11th during 7/8 lunch in room
119 for all Grade 8 students interested in playing high school tackle football
next year.

7&8 Swim Team Try-outs

Those interested in joining the 7&8 swim team are asked to sign
up on a list outside Mlle Pendergest's room (234). Try-outs will be
on held on April 12th from 3:15-4:15pm at Minto Recreation
Complex (3500 Cambrian Rd). Attendance is mandatory at the try-out to
be considered for the team. (CP & BL April 12)

Any High School students interested in joining the track and field team
this year should come to an information/sign up meeting on Wednesday, April 13th 2016 (tomorrow) in Room 136 at lunch (11:30am)

Members of the Jr. Girls Soccer Team
will practice April 14th, April 19th and April 21st. Please see Mr. Gervasi in

Shakespeare
400: As
most of you know, the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth and death
is April 23. The English Department has BIG plans for April and
May. To kick things off, we invite students to participate in the
following activities:
1) Mural
Design submission:
- Choose a space in the first floor English/Resource wing
- Measure the space
- Provide a detailed ORIGINAL coloured drawing of your mural with a
Shakespearean theme.
- Due: April 29, 2016 to Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138
2) Spoken Word Showcase:
- Write a 1-2 minute spoken word poem on a
current theme of interest to high school students (appropriate language,
please)
- Perform the spoken word poem for a small
audience
- Perform the poem again during Education Week
(May 6)
Due for first performance: April 29 with Mrs. Simpson in Rm 138 after school.

Any HS
Girls interested in trying out for Touch
Football are invited to practice sessions from 3-4 PM, this
Wednesday and Thursday.
They will be in the gym so no cleats allowed. (MP April 12)
Girls Softball: All girls, from
grade 9 to 12, interested in playing in the city softball tournament are asked
to come to a very important planning meeting on Thursday, April
14th. The
meeting will be in room 301 at the beginning of lunch.

Lights, Camera.....Dance! Mother Teresa’s
semi-formal Oscar-themed dance is rolling out the red carpet on the evening of
Thursday, April 21st. Be sure to vote for the awards nominees on
my.mths.ca before April 8th. Tickets will be on sale for $10.00 at
High School lunch the week of April 11th -14th. (EB April 14)
High School Football: There will be a meeting
on Monday, April 11th at the beginning of HS lunch in room
119 for all high school students interested in playing tackle football next

Equity and Inclusion: Equity is much different than equality. In fact, some of us see it as
"unfair" that certain people get perks; In fact, they are getting
what they need to be as successful as everyone else. Come discuss these issues
within our school and our community and more in room 310, next Monday,
April 11th at lunch.

Volunteer Opportunities for students at Waupoos Family Farm.
Come see information
sheet in Student Services for job descriptions. Summer volunteer
opportunities include assisting with programming,
cottage clean-up, laundry, animal care, gardening, weeding, painting, crafts,
outdoor games, etc. Mondays to Saturdays available. Summer volunteers are
encouraged to participate one day per week, for 6 to 8 weeks. Interview
and police check required. Must be a minimum of 14 years to apply as a

LF Volunteers for CN
Cycle for CHEO: On Sunday, May 1, 2016 we are holding our annual CN Cycle for
CHEO, the hospital’s largest pediatric cancer fundraising event which last year
raised over $942,000 for CHEO. Funds raised are used to support
lifesaving cancer research and treatment at CHEO. This fun,
non-competitive event offers a wide range of cycling (15K, 35K, 70K) and
walking (2K, 5K) routes for people of all ages and abilities. In order to
make this a safe and enjoyable event, we need many volunteers especially Route
Assistants! Please log on to www.cncycle.ca , check out the
position descriptions and sign up today! You will receive an automatic
confirmation e-mail when you register on-line, confirming the time and area for

High School Students
